  1. Good shots although makes my eyesight go a bit weird, either that or my contact lenses are not in focus!
  2. When the bonnet got smashed by those plonkers working on next doors roof, took it to TGM for respray and they commented that I had so much paint on the car it must add a fair bit of extra weight! Can only assume whoever resprayed it prior to owning it myself went to town!
  3. Only do the bits that need it and go easy on it.
  4. I machine once a year max. Bathe+ and Victoria Concours keep it shiny in between. I used Menzerna polishes which seemed pretty good.

Cant make my mind up, looking a bit like an SL/SLK maybe?
  6. Yes if you hold a torch to the paintwork you can see the swirl change - loads of cars cleaned by hand can look great in photos but you need that swirl check to see the real impact - and DAs mean even an idiot like me can have a fair crack at it.
  7. The difference a DA makes is night and day - dont care what some of these products that are hand worked in claim, a DA takes it to a wholly different level nice work.
  8. And in case anyone missed this thread it helps with look and feel and how the forum look operates https://www.350z-uk.com/topic/118099-tip-making-the-most-of-your-activity-stream/
  9. Each has their own benefits, which is why we set up the FB page associated with this forum. Some prefer one, others prefer the other. Being a member of quite a few forums its clear that less people are signing up to forums and just using FB as thats what they know - however this is a global phenomenon and in no way associated with the revamp of this site on any sort of scale. Marzman but I take offence to your comment that the forum cannot speak. Your first post on this thread is that this "isn't a patch on the previous iterations" yet above you are saying you feel you have only one issue with it and everything else is improved. The team spend hours of their free time changing stuff based on feedback on a regular basis and we make team decisions on what we do and do not implement, just because we haven't leapt all over your piece of feedback is in no way indication of how much the team take on board and make changes based on feedback. Regardless of what has been said on this thread, as mentioned a number of times, there is a sub forum for feedback put stuff in it that is something we can see gives improvement to the forum and it will be assessed by the team.
  10. The settings I use are: Show Me: Content Items Only Content Types: Topics Read Status: Content I Haven't Read & Unread Item Links Take Me To First Unread Comment Ownership: Everything Following: Everything Time Period: Any Time Sorting: Newest Content First Results As: Condensed
  11. OK, first post up in the forum guide section on how to utilise Activity streams, I suspect this will make peoples experience a whole lot easier.
  12. Tips on making the most of the Activity function on the new forum The Activity area is a key area to help you navigate the forum - it has preset and fully customisable (which you can save) searches which enable you to set up the forum posts look and feel to how you prefer it. Personally I find setting this up correctly to be fundamental for me to use the forum in the way I need it to. I will run through this from a desktop browser based point of view, as many people will be using this approach either as standard or have the capability to. I have a shortcut set up on my browser that takes me instantly to this look and feel: So I can see when I first open the forum all unread topics, condensed down, showing in order newest to oldest, who has last responded, to whoever initiated the post in what sub-forum and when I click on one of them it will take me to the first unread post. This is not how I suggest everyone set up their experience, but its one I find most useful, I am sure after reading the guide you can go and create whats best for you using the same approach, so how do you create this customised search stream... The easiest way to get to a customised search stream of the forum is to use the Unread Content button which sits under your Activity section on the left hand side menu bar. If you press this button you will be presented with a default unread activity search with a search functionality bar at the top: Here you can start to adjust your search parameters, above you can see it is showing all content type which in this case I am not interested in, I only want to see TOPICS which are highlighted. Then under Read Status I can adjust a couple of settings: In here I can see by default it just takes me to the start of the thread, so I can set it so that when I open a topic it takes me to the last unread post to save scrolling through the post to find the latest one. The process carries on, I wont show all the different drop down menus I am sure you can click through and choose what you need its mostly self explanatory. OK so now I have set up a custom Unread Topics search which is set up so that I can jump to latest posts when I click them. But actually I need to see lots of threads on the page I don't need the preview part so I can select CONDENSED as per below: This will remove the preview and give me all the latest threads in summary form. OK so now I want to save these changes, you will see this option appear each time you make an adjustment: You can in the box that appears type in a name for it, I will for this one call it "Unread Content For Example" and click create stream. This will now appear under the drop down box on the left under My Activity Streams. This is useful, but I like shortcuts, so if you look at the top of the page there is a little tick next to the title of the custom stream you have created. If you click this it will put a shortcut to it in the top right corner of your window and it will always sit there regardless to allow you no matter what your activity to jump quickly back to this preferred custom search: I hope this helps in terms of working with the ACTIVITY section of the forum as a starter for ten. Clearly clicking ALL ACTIVITY and CONTENT I STARTED will give you different default start points to work from and customise but I think you should get the gist of it for now. So please do go ahead and have a play, it should help you create a much better navigation experience on the forum.
  13. There are a handful of people on here saying they don't like one thing or the other, there is a sub forum for change requests and we had a big opportunity for people to ask questions months ago when this all changed. We have addressed most of them that we could others you just have to live with, like restrictions we had to live with on the old forum. No one said do not say anything negative because its free, the point was that its free so you are going to have to live with how it is, if every member paid £500 a year for access then sure we would have paid for programmers on hand to sort out things to peoples wants and needs. The freeness of it dictates the service and the ethos is that its a free forum, it has its limitations but the most important thing is people have access to the information stored within for free - we should not be charging for it. Scrolling through this thread you will see people actively saying they visit less, some for personal reasons but others saying because they don't like the new layout. The thread is a thread about change, so only people that want change will post and is in no way an indication of how the forum as a whole feels - I am not sure you can justifiably show that people are more anti than pro change unless you can poll the entire forum. The team have thrown a lot of time in firstly saving the forum, then setting up a new one, testing it, revising it, taking on board feedback, changing it again and again. As I said, we appreciate constructive feedback that is something we can implement, but subjective views on what a single person likes or doesn't like is not something we can do much about.
  14. Of course the club is interested in feedback, but subjective feedback i.e. don't like the look of something is not something you can really reasonably implement. You don't like it, Ekona does, so who do we pacify? When things clearly need sorting out i.e buttons missing, sub-forums disappearing, functionality going missing, even people on FB saying they are having trouble signing up logging in etc. then usually Lexx/Stu etc drop what they are doing and sort it out often within an hour - you wouldn't even get that sort of response from an IT support company you pay for let alone volunteers on a club forum. So yes, you get something for nothing and that is the prerogative of why this was set up, maybe you like 95% of it and not 5% but that will always be the case you cannot customise something to suit everyone. But its folly if you own a zed (or even not) to just not read this forum because you dont like a button, a feature, the colour, the layout of a thread, or whatever in my view.
  15. That wasn't the point, we have a sub forum for where you can post things you would like to change, and they may or may not be implemented. I am not sure its a fair comment to say that some small nuance of the forum dictates whether you use it or not when the advantages of using it far outweigh the nuance you dislike. That line there was making a separate point to remind people that all this is free, no members have to put in any effort for this to work, just a handful of people volunteering their time behind the scenes to make it work as well as it can do given the limited time they have and that there will always be improvements that can be made but A. the team have lives B. changes can be time consuming and not worth impacting on teams lives C. that a £5 note is a big bonus for doing nothing, a £10 note would be nice but I wouldn't complain about a fiver. I am pretty sure there is some part of this forum that every member doesn't like, but it is free, you can choose to use it as it is, or not.
  16. If someone came up to you in the street and gave you a fiver for nothing, would you constructively criticise that a tenner would have been more useful? We are always open to ideas on improving the forum, there is a sub-forum for exactly this. We could spend all our time tinkering with the small things but to ensure that the overall experience is a good one we need to focus on the big things right now. Forum security was not only a big thing, but the biggest thing and that outweighs any changes to the nuances of how things come up on screen or how threads might appear. I appreciate for some its not what they like, but for others its not an issue. Sure if there is a quick easy fix we will implement it, but as above need to focus on what is really important at the moment (with the free time the team have available) which is forum security and stability and having a forum open and free to members to join and talk zeds and other cars on.
  17. I think there is a mix of actual issues and solvable ones here. There was a long thread explaining changes, how and why things work and great tips on how to set this up the way the old one worked but its likely many people missed it/was too much to take in at one go/etc. The posts drop is because the rules on what contributes to a post count were not properly implemented on the old skin but the software in the upgrade applied those. So all posts in the Welcome section for instance do not go towards your count. The reason is to prevent spamming of the forum to get for sale posts up and the like. This is an example of what I said above (that this questions has been covered a number of times but its just gotten lost in the mix of threads that appear on here - this is not a dig at you MBS by the way its a fault of ours for not somehow making it clear) where important info is not easily visible to give a better forum experience. I am going to put together a top ten tips (or whatever you like to call it!) that helps you use this forum for the time being in a way that it worked before. For instance I have mine set up so that when I click my shortcut to open the forum on my browser it automatically shows me the latest unread posts like the old forum did, I have seen this issue raised a few times already but it is something easily solvable and once you know how to do it the forum is your oyster for setting up endless custom search shortcuts. Clearly some things to fix are more technical, which Lexx has indicated we will look at as soon as we can/and is viable.
  18. Seems odd you rate only one 'homemade' brand, even when there are many just on that site. Similarly like anyone on here I use multiple brands that perform best for each application such as Gyeon, Victoria Concours etc.
  19. Just a number, we are where we are!
  20. Nice one mate, nothing wrong with a red car
  21. Its not that crazy an idea, the calendar has been changed so many times over the years. In Cornwall last week on a little tour took this photo... Apparently on that date that part of cornwall running with one calendar was ordered by the kingdom to move their calendar forwards to align to calendars being used elsewhere in the country. As a protest this place (Fowey) has this plaque up to complain about losing their time when it happened!
  22. Brilliant. Love the way it mentions Spare Wheel which is a wheel just tossed into the back of the car!
  23. Quick question GZ, would you buy a Hybrid Tesla or an EV Kia?
  24. Are they dithering? Or are they simply waiting for the right time to enter the market? EVs are still a small percentage of global car sales, there is still a decade or two of sales at least left in fossil fuel cars and its unlikely that they would receive the huge government subsidies that Tesla has received (some $5bn estimated) to keep their EV development alive. If I were a CEO of a large car manufacturer would I be publicly talking about the end of fossil fuel cars when my company sits on the stock exchange selling tens of millions of them globally, of course not. Would I be sitting there behind closed doors putting various plans in to place either be it via the multitude of acquisition/partnership possibilities or looking at the viability of building our own capability, yes. Would I be throwing everything the company has at rolling out dozens of EVs which right now accounts for a couple of percent of the market, personally no.
