Have to agree, it is quite hard to give it up if its something which either you enjoy or think you enjoy and are just addicted to. I gave up smoking a few years back and that was a nightmare, but now i wouldnt dream of having a cigarette again. For me 2014 is the turn around year and im looking forward to a good one. Good luck!

From personal bad experiences with various national chains like this, I wouldnt let them touch my car with a barge pole. Last time I MOT`d my zed I found a local specialist garage who specialised in performance cars and who I got good reviews for. They handled my car with cotton gloves and the most uptmost of respect. Sure, it cost me the full RRP MOT price, but id rather pay that than have peace of mind.

Im trying it myself. If I manage not to have a drink throughout all of Jan then it will be the longest ive gone without a drink since I was a teenager, so will be quite a challange for me. On the fitness side of things though ive never been one for a new years resolution like that, as if you are considering getting into shape why wait? Start straight away. Ive been hitting the weights again quite seriously since October, and so 3 months into it im noticing some good improvements and slowly getting back to the sort of size / strength I used to be when I was younger. Will be a while yet, but the way I see it, im 3 months ahead on getting into shape than my missus who is the typical "lets start a new fad diet as a new years resolution" person. The secret I find is to set small goals then you are more likely to hit them.

Congratulations. And now the spending starts..... I got married last year and the whole wedding planing thing was a nightmare. My missus happily started off all normal thinking we could do it on a budget. At one point she was even up for the idea of buying a wedding dress off ebay 2nd hand, but that soon went out the window after she went out and tried on some £3k dresses. Then of course you have to have better stuff than your friends weddings.. etc. etc.. then the honey moon - oh lets have everything top notch. Then as soon as you mention wedding, people jack their prices up... Ended up spending about £25k and she still wasnt happy. Argh! Still, i remember the day well as it is all down hill from there. I can count on my hand the number of times ive had any bedroom activity since then, and as her new years resolution (Diet) has highlighted, shes put on about 5 stone in weight since we got married last year. Im sure you will be okay tho!

Who else is working today?
rabbitstew replied to Ewen@Clark Motorsport's topic in Off Topic Discussion
I only get the bank holidays "off" although i still have to be on call. As others have said, best thing about this time of year is the roads into work are dead. The last 18 miles on my journey into work usually take me 1hr, today it took 15minutes! Love it! -
Rediculous what people will nick. I had a K1 on my zed and 2nd hand they arent expensive, so its mad that someone would risk going to jail for stealing something over something of that value.

Mine was well up to date on all servicing having just had a P3, and at the time only 4 years old and plugs etc were fine. I felt like it was more of an ignition cut out sensation, similar to as if you had hit the redline. But, once I knew it was there, I could work around it. I seem to recall it actually seemed to happen more when engine was cold, not when warmed up - which sound to be the opposite to what you are experiencing.

I had a 2007 313 HR Roadster from 22,000 to 42,000 miles. And I experienced this a couple of times after I fitted a straight through K1 exhaust system to the car. I assumed it was just because I hadnt had it remapped and that the exhaust system was letting the exhaust gases out quicker. In my case i noticed it when I was in 2nd gear when you booted it. If I accelerated hard from 1st, through 2nd, 3rd etc. then I wouldnt get it. But if you were say cruising in 2nd then floored it you`d get what was like a small flat spot, or engine cut out for a split second.....

+1 exactly what he said.
-
Its very dependent upon where you live I find. In 18 months of owning a 313 HR zed I only saw 1 other HR on the road and possibly about 4 zeds in total throughout that time. However I saw millions of boxsters, 911`s, TT`s, Z4`s and even a couple of Z4M`s. And yet in some areas, people see loads of zeds all the time!

Ok the rusty stuff appearing on my discs is freaking me out!
rabbitstew replied to Sempiternal's topic in 350Z General
As others have said this isn't anything to worry about and neither is the big bang you are likely to get when you first move your car! Your pads are likely to have bound slightly to your disc and that first movement will break the binding and can result in an almighty bang - DONT freak out! David Ah, dont freak out unless the same thing happens to you like happened in my golf after I left it standing covered in snow in a Birmingham car park for 10 days whilst i was in California. Reversed out of parking space, nice bang noise, then off I drove. First touch of the brakes resulted in horendous metal on metal noise. Turned out what had happened was that the friction material had sheared clean off the brake pads meaning metal backing plate was now touching the discs! In all fairness the pads were about 80k miles old, and i guess 2 years of salt and stuff had caused them to corrode. Luckily I was only 8 miles from GF parents house, so I pulled in there, nipped down local car accessory place and after £12 for new set of pads + the cost of an allen key tool to get the calipers off, and about 30mins work in total I was back on the road. -

All normal, although it seems certain cars or discs seem more prone to it than others. My zed would do it after minutes of washing, but my beemer seems fine even after days! -
As others have said its all perfectly fine. My mate had similar concerns earlier in the year when he sold his car to a guy in France. Guy came over, paid cash, drove the car home and my mate had no problems. Atm because cars a miles cheaper in the UK than Europe, a lot of European people are buying from the UK and shipping back.

The stock sat nav doesnt have phono input. It may well be cheaper to just buy a £25 screen off ebay which has a phono connector on it and mount it elsewhere... or get a double din stereo with phono inputs....

Good luck then. I wouldn't want to take my car back to Nissan Cambridge in a hurry. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk

The later alezan zeds didnt have the orange bottom bit on the steering wheel so you could replace the whole wheel instead. Also before people rush off and dye their alezan gear knob`s, check out the cost of buying an alezan replacement one! They cost a fortune (as i know from personal experience), so it might be better just to flog off the alezan knob and buy a normal one, or an after market one. That black dye stuff does look great though, the results look pretty fantastic.

Christ thats a lot of damage, and the mess inside with all that glass. Hope you can get it all sorted out without it costing you a fortune. We had roof tiles flying off our 6 storey high office block here yesterday and landing in the carpark, narrowly missing passer bys. Wasnt just the odd tile, but loads of them. Lucky noone got killed.

A tad harsh ... did you know she only had a 1.0 Nissan Micra? Even if that is her daily she might have something else at home she doesn't use for work, most people see my other half in his Pug 307 and not know about the Supra TT and Gixer at home as well as my zed. Unless you personally know her, for all you know she could be a racer at weekends, just because she is young and female doesn't mean she can't handle a zed, they have a big engine but I wouldn't say they're particularly spritely unless you're really pushing it. You may well be right, but i dont expect theres many 18 year old receptionists who have a supra TT, a Gixer & a Zed at home as not only would most 18 year olds not be able to afford to buy said cars, but the insurance would be somewhat crippling. My concern was that I dont let anyone touch my car, even my wife. So after spending a good 20 minutes trying to get the receptionist to understand what I wanted doing to my car and her not seeming to understand what day of the week it was, how to use their computer system, or what a fan belt was, to have her then climb in my car and drive off didnt really inspire me with confidence that she wouldnt scrap the side of the car or reverse it into something. Im sure there are exceptions to the rules and i didnt meant to afford you if you are young and female.

God knows. How its worked in the past for me when ive had a car written off was that the insurance company looks in the glasses guide and offers you the price listed in there for a car in that condition with mileage & extras. Of course, that figure very often bares very little resemblance to the actual cost you would have to pay in real life to buy such a car, so then you dispute this with the company, and offer proof of what garages are actually charging for such a car. The insurance company then usually agrees with you and gives you the actual "real" price of you buying an exact match replacement car. Im not sure how this garage handled it. Most dealers dont seem to have much cash and buy all their stock on finance, so im presuming maybe the garage had to go through their insurance company in which case they would have done the above. The guy says he got paid what it would cost to replace the car like for like, so it makes sense. What they havent done through from the sounds of it is give the guy any compensation for inconvenience and the hassle of having his car written off through no fault of his own.

Couple of things here. Firstly.. "Police have decided that there is insufficient evidence to prosecute " - i had the same response from the police a few years back when I was stationary and had a boy racer pile into the back of me at about 60mph. My car was scrunched up like a screwed up bit of paper, I was thrown back with such force that the drivers seat actually ripped out of the floor pan. The boy racers car was totally smashed up. All in a 30mph zone. And yet the police said "not enough evidence". Quite what evidence they need i really dont know, surely the scene of the accident speaks for itself. Secondly, when I took my 350z to my local Nissan dealer for some warranty work, I was totally amazed that the blond 18 year old receptionist took my keys and then drove off in my car to the workshop. Sure, she was pretty fit, but I really would not have expected her to be experienced in driving such a high performance car and would have expected they would have only allowed a more experienced driver or mechanic drive my car in case she lost control because the car was more powerful than her 1.0 Nissan Micra daily driver. So, if this is common practise for nissan to allow anyone to drive customers cars, its hardly supprising an accident will happen!
