Err... brakes on all the UK ones are the same Brembos.. its only imports which didnt always have Brembos. The UK GT pack added bose, climate and leather seats. It was a very very very popular option which dealers pushed, so you`ll find the majority of UK cars have the GT pack. As for the Bose, I wasnt overly impressed with it. Sure you get about a million speakers, including a subwoofer under the drivers seat, but I really struggled to get the settings to sound how I wanted. Then id find, the next song I played sounded terrible and id have to start adjusting things again. Still, having the tape slot is handy for doing the ipod hack.

This... and this... When I bought my 2007 HR Roadster a few years back, it was one of only 3 on Autotrader within 100 miles of my house. I drove to the first one, only to find it was sold, went straight to the 2nd one, and it was midnight blue... which just didnt do it for me. Garage also refused to budge even £1 on the full screen price. So, I called up about the 3rd one, which was at a main dealers, about 80 miles from my house and arranged a test drive for the very next day. I turned up, car was perfect, had every single optional extra ticked - it was an ex Nissan Press car so they spec`d it as high as they could. But it was slightly over my budget. No matter what I tried the garage would not budge on the screen price at all. After about 2 hours of negotiating I got 6 months road tax included and that was it. I was a cash buyer too! One of the reasons they said they werent budging was that they had someone else interested in the car who would turn up and buy it the next day. I dismissed this as a typical salesman`s spiel, but after I bought the car and joined this forum, the guy who was actually going to buy it was on here and was a bit annoyed at the dealer as apparently they had already agreed to sell it to him! So, just goes to show how rare the HR ones can be, how quick they can sell and how inflexible dealers can be on the price when they know they have something rare.

Saw this at the cinema when it came out and it certainly was an excellent film. Really made you think you were there track side back in the day. One of my favourite bits is when Lauda`s car breaks down in the middle of Italian(?) mountains and some local guys give them a lift. That had me cracking up.

As others have said its all down to how "friendly" the tester is. My mates got a scooby running a full straight through system and pushing out something like 700bhp with race fuel. From what he was saying when we last talked about MOT`s, the place he uses just sticks the emissions wand thing in the exhaust of whatever other car happens to be sitting in the workshop at that moment in time. Of course, if your a stranger then the MOT man risks you being from DVLA and can take away his MOT license there & then. Ive had similar problems with MOT`ing my motorbikes. Some places query the fact ive no headlamps, no indicators and a race exhaust system on it. Others happily pass it with a daylight MOT.

Ive had that a couple of times now, where you dream your car has been stolen, but the dream feels so real that the first thing you start to do when you wake up is to call the police. Its only me double checking the car was on the drive that stopped me physically dialing the police up and telling them its been nicked. I find eating cheese before bed is usually the cause.....

Cheers, its not expensive stuff, so I might give it a go over the next month and see how I get on. Although after shopping last weekend and finding that im now having to buy XXL shirts my wife is getting worried that im over doing the training some what.

Finally ready to lose my Z-ginity!

Even still, i cant argue with that from a 3.5 V6... that must of been quite a jump!! The biggest decider for me is £650 insurance with 3 points (silly 36mph in a 30 :-( ) Thats a really good price. When I got my zed it cost me over £900 to insure, even though i had 20 years NCB gained driving high performance cars and motorbikes. I was totally amazed as I was quoted something like £450 for an M3 and £500 for a porsche boxster 3.2s and yet the insurance companies regarded the zed as a much higher risk for me. God knows why. Even a brand new Nissan GTR came in at about £400 on the insurance quotes! -
Incredibly twitchy 350z in Icy Conditions

7 miles to work? Think id get the push bike out if i lived that close to work! It took me longer than it would take to cycle to work to defrost my car this morning before venturing out on my 45mile commute. -

In actual fact the engine in the HR is 80% new over the old engines. Nissan took the old zed engine and basically tuned and improved it as much as they could. Its also got improved cooling, ram air and they even mounted it lower in the chassis to improve handling....... So it was much more than just increasing the Rev limit to 7500rpm. But it lacked some torque the original DE engine had (people seem to forget that). The HR "lost" just 4 ft lb`s over the old DE engine but gained 33bhp on top of all the other improvements done to increase performance. I think at the end of the day people who go for the older DE ones tend to fit a pendulum mod, decats, a race exhaust, induction kit and then have it remapped and end up with maybe 300bhp. Whereas those people who bought the HR tend not to bother as it has more than that power as stock. So, I guess you either get the HR, or buy a DE and fork out a grand or whatever it costs to try and bring it up to HR power. For the OP - There are 3 power levels with the 350z. The early ones are: 276bhp and 268lb/ft then around 2006 there was the "revup" version which had 295bhp and 260lb/ft. Then, in mid 2007 Nissan overhauled the car and bought out the HR which had 309bhp and 264lb/ft. Most people agree that on a track or if your "making progress" then there isnt much between them, but most people also agree that the HR is the "better" car with the power delivery & the way it drives. Its all personal preference at the end of the day and noone is right or wrong. How to identify the HR is that the bonnet on these had a bulge in it - however a lot of people like these bonnets and retrospectively fit them to older cars. If you open the bonnet you can see its got duel air intakes instead of the single one. The HR came out about April 2007, so you can get some 2007 cars which are not HR. Likewise you can get 2008 and even 2009 registered cars which are the older revup version (nissan selling old stock), so watch out for them. There was also a face-lift late 2006 which gave the car dual xenon headlamps, different front bumper, improved looking interior with alloy trim on switches etc. etc. So, if you went for an HR car you`d get both the higher spec engine plus the facelift which is another plus point for getting a higher tax bracket car. However, the facelift wasnt timed with the HR release, so you can get non HR face lift cars. Whichever one you go for, you`ll have loads of fun. They are quite a heavy car and some people can be a bit disappointed as they arnt as quick as they might expect. But, they are a lot of fun and plenty quick enough once you get used to how they drive. Wet performance depends on tyres. I ran Falkens on mine (£650 a set) and once the car & tyres were warmed up, wet weather wasnt too much of a problem. Obviously you dont drive like a looney in the rain. When it snowed i didnt bother venturing out, but theres people on here who have fitted winter tyres and have no problem in the snow. -
Maybe it was a payable option? Nope, im pretty sure that unless it was a metallic colour it was free. I know on my HR zed, the Twilight Grey colour I had was an extra £650 on top of the base price as it was a metallic. Basically I think red just went out of fashion. It seemed like every man & his dog wanted Silver cars around 2002->2005, then that turned into Gunmetal Grey being popular, then now everyone seems to want white cars! Black`s always been floating about as the other most popular colour but thats about it. One problem which always was more noticeable on red cars was that they used to fade really badly in the sun. I had 2 cars which did that, ended up having to get them resprayed in the end which wasnt cheap. That kind of put me off buying another red car.

Personally I felt it was worth the extra and got the HR model. Only way you can tell really which you`d prefer is to test drive both. You have a good budget there, so whilst i havent checked prices over the last few months, you could probably squeeze an HR model into that budget with a bit of luck. Good luck with your searches! -
Careful with special fried rice. I made the mistake of reheating it a few weeks ago. A week of food poisoning later and I'll never be doing that again That may explain somethings.... I have a protein shake 2 hours before my fry up at about 6am, find it kick starts my metabolism. Do you find glutamine does anything? Ive been reading quite mixed reports on it, lot of people think it doesnt do anything to help recovery?

Same here. I dont go anywhere unlesss I know ive got 100% safe parking. If theres any doubt then I just take the wifes car instead.

How about a BMW 123d coupe. Thats what I went for in the end. I wanted something which would be as fun, nearly as quick and handle as well as my old 2007 HR Zed. I briefly considered the Scirocco etc, but in the end after reading the reviews on the 123d coupe, for me it flew to the top of my list. I find it handles better than my zed did, 0-60 is a whisker slower - i think the HR zed was something like 5.8 and the 123d is a fraction over 6 seconds, but the 123d has more torque than the HR zed, so over taking & in gear perfomance can be quite supprising. That coupled with im getting nearly 50mpg compared to 24mpg I got from the zed means running costs are a lot lower. Sure, its a diesel and some people are funny about that - completely different experience to drive. I find that you dont realise just how quick it is until you actually have a bit of fun against a petrol car which you`d have assumed would be quicker. Only downer from my perspective was the cost, the 123d coupe`s arnt cheap, but you can get the hatchback version quicker. If diesel just isnt an option, then how about the M135i ? They are absolutely astounding value for money and very quick cars.

Lovely looking Roadster. I really miss my 2007 HR Roadster now.

I have the same thing every morning. Big frying pan, chuck in whatever was left over from tea the night before (potatoes, veg, any left over meat all chopped up) - add 4 eggs, scramble it all up and have it on 2 rounds of toast. No butter or marg, but a 1 pint mug of tea to wash it all down. Sunday`s was interesting as I we had a chinese takeaway the night before, so in the fry up went noodles, left over crispy duck, special rice and even a few chopped up sweet/sour chicken balls.

Amazing! Guy at work ordered a brand new Fiesta ST and it was made, shipped and on his doorstep within about 8 weeks. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk -
Going forward its times like this when you start think about getting some sort of back up in place. External 1tb hard drives are well cheap now which is what ive just bought to back up all my stuff. I also use google drive which auto sync`s all my stuff, which has the added benefit that i can access my stuff from any device. Hope you can recover it all okay!

You would have thought.... but again, in most peoples experience, it varies wildly from dealer to dealer. Ive had good & bad experiences at Nissan garages, unfortunately 2 out of 3 were bad.
