  1. Yep mate. Its very hard though to free up any time in the week. I get up at 6am each day as it is and am then flat out until 8pm. When I was fixing up my motorbike the other year I had to get up at 4.30 am each day in order to give me an hour before everyone else got up in order to work on it. Not good changing cambelts and trying to set timing at 5am when your half asleep. Earlier on in the year I was getting up at 5.15am then getting an hour in before work, but whilst I find cardio is great at that time of morning, having any energy/strength to lift is hard as you just havent had chance to get any grub down. Before I had kids, id get in from work at 6.30pm and I could get a workout in nicely then before cooking my tea and settling down for the night, however now getting in from work means a mad rush to feed the cats, tidy up then put little one to bed. I did look to see if there was any gyms near work, so I could get a workout in during my lunchbreak, but the only ones local are far to expensive. On the plus side, when I work from home, its great as I can just nip out to the garage at about 2pm and get a cracking workout in, then after a shower I can carry on with work. Unfortunately working from home is quite rare these days. Still, I guess in a few years the kids will put themselves to bed and i`ll be able to free up some time.
  2. Lol, when I had my zed I had 2 people shout out "w@@nker" to me for no reason what so ever. Sort of mystified me a bit as the vast majority of people complimented me on the car and admired it.
  3. Tyre technology these days is petty mad. The tyres I run on my bikes are the Metzeler Racetec Interact`s and they come in 3 different compound. All have hardly any tread on them at all and are as near to slicks as you can get for the road. I think they are standard on a lot of bikes like the BMW 1000R etc.. Anyway, the long standing bike vs car argument will go on forever I think. The Guy Martin speed documentary the other year where he pitched his motorbike up against a formula one car was interesting. The bike was quicker on the acceleration, but as expected around a race track the formula one car cornered much faster. On the roads I find I am much quicker on my Yamaha R1 than I am in a car. I find its acceleration, braking and cornering all are so much quicker. I can switch lines mid corner, overtake on small straights where id never be able to in the car and all feel so much more in control & safer. I was expecting my 997 turbo to give it a good run for its money, but after 3000 miles, whilst im still getting used to the 997, the bike is definitely quicker on my local roads. Sure, if I change the tyres out on the 997, have the geometry checked & set, plus adjust the suspension and spend weeks practicing I might be able to give the bike a bit more of a run for its money. But thats a lot of time/effort when I can just wheel my R1 out of the garage and do it all on a stock bike which is now worth about £50k less than the 997 turbo.
  4. Struggling a bit for me with lack of spare time. Its back to having no time in the week to get a workout in, then as I only get 1hr spare on a Saturday & 1hr spare on a Sunday im back to trying to fit an entire week of workouts in in those 2 hours. Its a real struggle as im supersetting 2 workouts in one on the Saturday then just havent got the energy to have a decent workout on the Sunday. I am finding though that I seem to have more energy for my Saturday workout after 5 days off. Although its so annoying as im so angry that ive not been able to have a workout for 5 days that I end up getting really frustrated if the weekend workouts turn out crap as i feel ive wasted a week and i know it will be another whole week before I can get another workout in. As it was, on Saturday I didnt get in the gym until about 8.30pm after putting the little one to bed, after spending 10 hours decorating. By the time I had finished my workout, showered it was 10pm and I then had to start cooking dinner. Sigh. On the plus side, im eating healthily and my weight hasnt changed since Jan. But that also means ive not put on any size over the last 6 months at all.
  5. When I had a brand spanking new 370z for a courtesy car a few years back whilst my 350z was having some work done at Nissan, I found a massive stack of receipts in the glove box for normal unleaded petrol which is what the Nissan main dealer was putting in all their demo/courtesy cars.
  6. On the face of it, it does seem strange how your Aunt is keen to keep the money in the bank in case interest rates go up. As its not her money why should she really care about interest rates!
  7. Must just be the time of day, I know when we normally come back from Cornwell, you get on the M5 at the start and the sat nav says something like "in 170 miles time turn left" and your on it for what seems forever. When ive been on it, its been so quiet ive really had to use restraint with regards to what speed im doing, I dont think ive ever seen a police car on there either. I set the cruise at a "reasonable" speed and do the whole stretch without touching any pedals at all. Feels most strange after a couple of hours suddenly then having to start using the pedals again.
  8. Excellent news as I did exactly the same combo on my 911 a couple of weeks back. Last week I didnt even have to wash the car, just used some quick detailer, wipe on/ off and the car looked brand new again. Im only "allowed" to wash my car once every few weeks, so I am hoping that the BH & FK combo keep the car looking good for as long as possible.
  9. In my experiences GP`s dont really care about getting the cause of the problem solved, just give you pain killers and send you on your way. Last year I had some back pain and told the GP that normal pain killers werent touching it. Rather than help diagnose the problem he gave me a pescrtiption for something like 200 co-codamol and sent me off. 200 of the things. I think I must have cleared the chemist out nearly. God knows what he was thinking. Seems one extreme to the other...
  10. Im looking at getting breakdown cover for the first time in my life atm as my 997 turbo doesnt have a spare tyre and I dont fancy getting stuck in the middle of nowhere. TBH ive always managed to either limp home (even when the clutch fell out of my ducati), or phone up my Dad who has a towbar & a tow rope. Looking online, if I use my tesco clubcard points, I can get RAC for about 1/4 of the full price which seems a huge saving. The only experience ive had with breakdown companies is when the wifes Nissan Juke broke down on the M11 one day. Her cover was with the AA so they came out. By the time they arrived I had already worked out what the problem was (main boost pipe from the turbo to intercooler had split), I had the part number I needed and where I could get it from (Renault or Nissan) and the price. Had they been quicker or smart enough they could have either picked the bit up on the way to me, or took me to the garage to purchase the part. However, the AA`s solution was to wrap some soft electrical insulation tape around what was a split high boost pipe and send us on our way. The "fix" lasted less than 200 yards down the road before it burst again. We pulled over onto the hard shoulder again and watched the AA van drive past us and off on his merry way. After an hour a flatbed AA truck arrived to recover us, but it had no carseat for our 1 year old. We then sat there for 4 hours with our crying 1 year old waiting for AA to approve a taxi or get a car seat for their recovery vehicle so we could get home. We had no food/water, but luckily the AA man took it upon himself to nip to the local shop & get us some refreshments. Finally they signed off on a taxi and got us back home whilst transporting our car to our local Nissan garage. That experience as kinda put me off using the AA.
  11. One of ours has now taken to sh!tting on the kitchen worktop. Lovely I know. He even does it whilst your in the room. The other day I was making a cup of tea. Kettle boiled, turned around to grab a cup. By the time I had turned around the cat had stealthy snuck in the room, done a massive dump next to the kettle & vanished. I nearly stuck my cup in it. Disgusting thing.
  12. I had an advisory on my 1st MOT, January 2009 that by brake linings at the front were close to the limit, only had 5k on the clock. Next 2 MOT's, same garage no mention of them. Still haven't changed them. Pete My dad had an advisory on his car that the front ball joint was borderline a fail and needed replacing asap. Being the safety conscious bloke he is, he booked it in with the exact same garage to have the work done. Their mechanic went to change the ball joint and said he couldnt find anything wrong with it so called my dad up to ask if he still wanted it replaced as it was perfectly fine. My dad pointed out that their MOT tester had said it was so bad it nearly failed the MOT, so they grabbed their MOT tester and asked him what was wrong with the ball joint. The MOT tester double checked and couldnt find a thing wrong with it!!!
  13. all to do with the new licensing system blame Brussels the A2 license (under 24 years old) only allows you to ride a bike upto 47bhp but you can use a restricted bike as long as the original BHP isnt double 47bhp originally so all the manufactures are making bikes in that limit which serve both the A2 and A licenses. but i guess you know that Jesus, things have changed a bit. When I passed you could jump straight onto a 1000cc bike if you wanted! (not that you could afford one mind, as bikes were well expensive back then).
  14. Is all I can say  ^^^^^^^ indeed.
  15. I had an advisory on my Golf Gti for 3 years running for the bushes in the rear suspension arms being perished and apparently about to fall out. I didnt touch them, then on the 4th year it passed with no advisories at all. Same garage, same MOT tester. All depends on how they feel on the day really. But fair play on you, wanting to get them replaced before selling the car, thats got to show a potential buyer that your a serious seller.
  16. 87bhp?! I didnt think they made bikes with less than 100bhp these days! Still all good fun and glad to see another biker on here. Ive a Ducati 996, an R1 and a ZXR750L2 in my collection atm.
  17. ] Indeed, I remember my first car, a classic mini which cost me £20 to buy, cost me £500 third party only to insure. That's 25 times the price of the actual car! So based on that, a £5000 zed if the insurance was 25 times the cost would be £125,000. Maybe a more accurate way to look at it was that back then £500 was a months wage. Assuming a young driver these days maybe gets £24k a year as a salary, thats about £2000 for a month, so not too far off.
  18. Shouldn't she be polishing something else of yours? Not if he`s married. All that sort of stuff stops once you put the ring on her finger. The very same day infact in my case!
  19. I had something similar on Sunday. Being married with kids it only means I am "allowed" to wash my car once every 2 or 3 weeks. So this Sunday I got up at 6am whilst the rest of the house was sleeping and managed to wash the car. I then treated the paint with some poor boys black hole which really fetched out the black colour nicely. Then finally sealed it with a coat of wax. Really wanted to do a lot more but id spent 3 hours on it and the rest of the house was now waking up. The car looked awesome. Nice mirror shine and minor marks nicely hidden. Then it started to rain. Sigh. The rain did sheet off the sides nicely, but theres now water marks all over the roof on it.
