Torque Application ODB reader. Iphone and Android
rabbitstew replied to andlid's topic in 350Z General
Might have to check this out. Normally I use an OBD2 lead plugged into my netbook when im diagnosing car problems for friends / family. Be easier to just use my galaxy s2 and a bluetooth dongle tho! -
BRILLIANT!!!!!!!

No they didn't. All GT convertibles had buttons on both sides, but where the ones on the left on the coupe did the bluetooth controls, on the convertible they only did the radio as BT wasn't available as an option. If it doesn't have buttons on both sides of the wheel then it's not a GT car UNLESS the wheel has been replaced at some point, although why you'd do that is a different kettle of fish. Oops my bad When I was searching for 350z's, all the 'GT' convertibles I looked at only had one set of buttons on the steering wheel also so I thought that was the way they were meant to be. Luckily I didn't buy one then! I've just researched this and looked at several photos of GT convertibles. It would seem that the extra buttons were introduced with the facelift model in 2006. I've looked at a few roadsters from 2005 advertised as "GT" and they are all missing 3 buttons from the steering wheel but they have all the other things that GT's have (Bose, Leather, Heated Seats). For example this one... http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2971583.htm If someone can produce a photo of a pre facelift roadster with 6 buttons then I'm obviously wrong Pete Nice work!!!

The facelift ones (late 2006 onwards) had the reflector in the front bumper at a straighter angle. Also, the orange strip in the headlamp vanished. The headlamps were also bi-xenon. The 313 engine`d cars had the engine dropped lower in order to improve the centre of gravity. Have a look at the specs on parkers.co.uk - they detail all the things which were standard or optional and the prices. For example, on the GT pack you got the headed leather seats, but if you wanted them in alezan orange then that was £400 extra. If you wanted metalic paint, that was £450 extra, if you wanted the built in SatNav that was £1200 extra.
-
hmmmmm... sounds like they do not have the cruise control. Im sure cruise control was part of the GT pack, but someone else will be along in a bit to offer more advice. Maybe cruise was an extra on top of the GT pack? Another thing, are the cars your looking at UK models, as the imports did have slightly different spec.
-
Sat Nav was an optional extra, I think the cost of that was a staggering £1400 on top of the retail price. Reversing sensors was a "dealer" option. So, Nissan never offered it as an option, but some dealers would fit them if you wanted as an extra. The GT pack ones should have buttons both side of the wheel. The ones on the right hand side are for the cruise control, which I think was part of the GT pack. The buttons on the left hand side of the steering wheel are the radio controls. Again, with the GT pack you got the bose stereo, which I think automatically came with the steering controls.

They still not sold it mate? Man... they must be kicking themselves now!

Should be interesting to hear what they say...... Doesnt sound cheap tho.

Hey! Good choice of zed! Welcome to the forum. With replacement bits, Id look on ebay, id also get a price from a dealer as some bits are supprisingly cheap. theres also some traders on here who may have some bits.

Excellent, saves me searching for the same car! lol. Glasses price are similar to parkers really in that they just give the dealer a very rough estimate of the part ex value. But in reality they have no baring at all on the price you would pay on the high street or in private sales. If you were to part ex your motor at a dealers, so many other factors come into the equation too, such as what you are part ex`ing it again - how much profit he will make on the car you are buying. Will the car you are part ex`ing be easier for him to sell than the one you are buying? Any extras on your car? Does he have a buyer lined up already for it? With my own car, based upon the glasses estimate of £12600 and the work the dealer had to do on the car before they sold it, they probably actually made a loss on it knowing what I paid them for it! But, from what I gather, it was part ex`d in against a brand new 370z roadster, so I expect the garage made more than enough profit on that.

You might be right there. But then again, thats one of the reasons I went for the Z. Simply because they are a lot rarer and I like to be different. On my daily drive into work I must see at least 6 boxsters every day. I also see loads of mx5`s, Audi TT`s, BMW z4`s, a couple of RX8`s, the odd s2000 etc... but I very rarely see any 350z`s (or even 370z`s for that matter). I may just see one zed a week at the most and ive yet to see another zed roadster on the road since I bought mine! Very good write up on the boxster tho, enjoyed reading that.

love those seats!!!

I had a fully spec`d up 370z GT Roadster for a couple of days last week and did around 350miles in it. It was a 11 plater, with 1800miles on the clock, so nice and new. It was the autobox with the 7 speed paddle shift. I normally drive the 350z roadster in my signature which is an 2007 one. So, going straight out of the seat in one to the other I could compare them back to back. The interior of the 370z was very black and felt more like a VW or Audi to some degree. My 350z has bits of alloy here & there and just generally seemed to have a less harsh, more fun interior. The 370z seats were comfortable, loads of adjustment, incl lower back adjustment which my 350z hasn't got. I did find the seats felt really high up compared to mine. The dash itself was laid out similarly but had a better trip computer with extra functionality than the 350 and 3 pod gauges showed different information. The built in satnav also doubles as an info screen, so when you turn the heaters & bits on, that all shows up on the sat nav screen. The sat nav voice comes out of both speakers rather than just the passenger one, it also has speed camera alerts on it - even when your just driving around with no route set. The stereo system sounded much better than the bose in mine. Also bluetooth mobile calling etc.. was great as that wasnt fitted in the 350z roadsters. Besides that, there were loads of little things which id already noted myself on my "wish list" which my 350z doesnt have, which Nissan amazingly have also realised and stuck on the 370z. Little things like the filler cap doesnt need popping manually with the release button, it already is unlocked on the main locking, the roadster roof auto unlocks when you press the roof down button - rather than you having to manually unclip it first. Tap the indicator and it signals 3 times - ideal for overtaking, passengers side window had auto up & down, auto headlamps, auto window wipers, push button keyless start, a cup holder in the centre tunnel, 19" wheels really looked ace, the stereo system already had mega connectivity in the cubby hole - photo in, usb, cigar lighter, bluetooth streaming, played m3`s etc. etc. Overall it was also more economical than my 350. Bad bits Roof seems to take twice as long as the 350z to go up & down, there was some serious tyre noise compared to my 350. The engine did not seem as smooth when you rev it, and it did not feel as quick. I personally did not like the styling as much - it looks harsher, more pointy styling. Boot never seemed to close unless you slammed it shut, MASSIVE wind turbulance with the roof down. Omg.. i could not drive it at 70 for long like that. Whereas in my 350z i have the roof down more than up and no turbulance at all. I also kept thinking about what other cars I could get for the £30+k Nissan wanted for the car I was driving and how it would half in value over the first 3 years! Whats it like to drive? Well, firstly I took it steady to get use to the auto box, and left it in fully auto for the first 70miles or so to get used to the car. Fully auto was nice and smooth when just driving slowly, around town, or on a relaxing drive out. But for any "spirited" driving it wasnt ideal. You could floor it at 70 and it would drop down so many gears that you`d end up virtually at the rev limit in whatever gear it had put it in before it then realised and changed up another gear. But, thats where the paddles come in. After getting used to it I found some back roads and tried the paddle shift. Initially I didnt like it, it seemed to take a while to change gear and I wasnt smooth. But, then it clicked, and I found myself loving it. Especially when you come into corners, hard on the brakes and just pull the left lever to bang it down a couple of gears. The brakes as well felt much sharper than mine. Handling wise, it felt very hard and harsh... maybe its because this one had done about 2000 miles whereas mine has done 25000 but it also seemed to feel less planted.. even "lighter" maybe and didnt inspire as much confidence as my 350. Apart from that, one of the biggest problems I found was the ground clearance. It didnt look low, but the bumper grounded out on every single speed ramp i came to - it even caught on my driveway. No matter how slow I negotiated them. All in all, i enjoyed the experience. It didn't feel anywhere near as much fun as my 350, it felt more of a refined old mans car compared to the 350. I loved the paddle shift, but dont think I could live with an autobox all the time. Loved the extra technical geeky features but didnt like the styling and looks/feel of it. Thats just my review of it, but everyones different!

About time. Last time I had an accident (no fault of mine i hasten to add), I had dozens of hire car companys fighting over lending me a car and solicitors calling me about claiming whiplash etc.

Roadster roof damage – warranty declined a claim
rabbitstew replied to felex6's topic in Warranty Issues
Well, got the car back the next day and have to say it looks like they have done a good job. Roof trim is fixed and looks as new and the hood operation actually seems smoother and less jerky than it used to be. Ive had the roof down twice a day for last 5 days and so far its all working well. I was also pleased they gave the car a full valet as it was filthy when I took it in. -
Idiot question alert! Should 'GT' be on reg cert?
rabbitstew replied to Squee's topic in 350Z General
Just quickly checked my v5 and as others have said, it doesnt state GT on there, but it does in all the documentation which came from Nissan with the car. -
Love some of the guys feedback.. "your product was great car now O-60 IN 4.2 SEC 2seconds quicker will bid again" This looks like those "tuning boxes" you get for diesels, which are simply a 4p resister inside a plastic box which used to be sold for 50quid on ebay.

pmsl!!!!!! -
I hope he has, otherwise you`ll have a nightmare. I had an accident a few years back where some old dear pulled straight out in front of me and knocked me off my motorbike. She admitted liability straight away. But after she spoke to her insurance company she then claimed it was my fault. My insurance company took 8 months to sort it out and in the end they decided it was 50/50 liability so I lost some of my NCB. What a bumper tho, id have gone apesh!t if that was my car. Now you have all the hassle of repair companies trying to fix it and making a pigs ear of it. I had to send my girlfriends car back to the repair garage 4 times after her accident last year and the car was never the same. Being a biker you soon learn to watch other cars, as in my experience you are more likely to have some idiot run into you, rather than crash yourself.

Would you let this woman drive your Zed?
rabbitstew replied to stubzie83's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Wouldnt let her anywhere near my car. Talk about jerky gear changes. She nearly headbutted the steering wheel when she changed from 1st to 2nd. lol! -

welcome!!! -
Nice one! Even got the same colour. I reckon that might be the way forward for me then, as ive got quite a long plate. I could fill the holes up then just use a stick on plate. Got to be cheaper than 75quid!
