Its a right joke!! Looks like adrian flux are coming up trumps though knocked neraly £100 off sky's quote and lots of extra benefits. Yeah Adrian Flux are quite good, im with them atm and have been for a few years. Only problem I have is that they have now taken the "drive any other persons car 3rd party" off my policy - which ive had on there for ever!

My missus has one of these... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Spider-Insect-B ... 061&sr=1-5

Id go with the Golf. Ive had 3 of them, 2 diesels and 1 petrol. I started off looking at A3`s but for the same money you get a much better spec Golf and they are basically identical cars with a different bodyshell. I was getting mid 60mpg out of my diesel golf every week, more if I was on a long journey. Cheap to service, mine never rusted anywhere and held its value very well. They are quite nippy to, they did a 170bhp version of the diesel which didnt hang about.

Lab Chimps Laugh And Hug At Taste Of Freedom

Same here. I think they give prisoners the option to have testing done on them instead. That way the person can decide rather than some poor animal being tortured. -
Spidermonk has it spot on. Id see that rust as a bigger problem than the mileage. Youd have to sand that down, treat it, then try and match the paint in on a 7 year old car which isnt always easy. The car does sound good though. Its a good spec. Thats not an OEM sat nav, but its a nice sized screen one and looks good. Has the GT pack, just had major service done, so next one will be cheap. Those tyres will last someone ages - my falkens were half worn 10k miles ago and still have plenty of life left in them. And it sounds like the owner is a bit flexible on the price. Id be tempted to offer him something in the high 5`s for it and see what they say.

Yeah its funny reading about it now, but it wasnt at the time. When I went back in the house the missus was crying her eyes out and in hysterics. She had a good 3 hour drive to Norfolk that day, was running late and darent go anywhere near her car. So there was me at 7am hoovering her car out on my hands and knees with the missus standing looking over my shoulder pointing out all the places she thought there could be spiders hiding. Im sure the neighbor must think im a battered boyfriend or something. Maybe I should have wrapped the whole car in cling film?

This reminds me of when I moved house earlier in the year and I had a load of old scrap metal at the old house. I say to the missus there is no way im putting that in the zed as it wont fit, let me borrow your car. Shes dead against it as shes worried spiders may be in the metal. I re-assure her its all fine, so take her Peugeot 307 and load it up with 1/2 tonne of scrap. Anyway, week later she opens her car door and there are the cobwebs everywhere, you cant even get into the car to sit down. She goes ape and drags me out of bed to clean them up. I say "ah, its probably only some little spider", open the door on her car and without a word of a lie, the biggest spider ive ever seen drops out onto the driveway and runs off. It was massive - even the cat look scared. The missus promptly sh!t herself and jumped about 8ft before running screaming into the house. My neighbour came running out looking at me as if id just given my missus a slap and theres me standing there in my underwear (having been dragged out of bed) wondering whats going on. I had to hoover that car out 3 times and she still took it to the local hand car wash guys to have them do it twice. Even now she opens the car door slowly in case the spider has relations also living in the car....

What if the something else was "Free pies"? would that help? just a thought for any future events we may have Id be there like a shot in that case mate. lol. Definitely. This happens to be the same local dealer whose mechanic I caught revving the t!ts off my car so he could hear the full effect of my K1 exhaust in their workshop - so there was no way id rush back to them.

Did anyone else get an invite in the post this morning inviting them to go to a special "VIP" closed door day at their local Nissan garage? Reading through the leaflet, it seems they expect people to want to go to this "special" day at their Nissan dealer where the doors will be locked and you will have 10 sales people frantically try and sell you cars under the pretense that as a "VIP" you will be offered them at a slightly cheaper price than normal members of the public. Is it just me, or does anyone else wonder why an earth anyone would want to go to this? If I wanted to buy a car, id be looking on autotrader, and shopping about. I certainly would not want to be locked in a showroom with high pressure sales people trying to sell me something I dont want at a higher price than I could get elsewhere. Had they been offering 24hour test drives or something as part of the deal then that would be another matter......

Excellent, and a great colour choice!!!!

Some cars have those magnetic sump plugs in as standard, and its amazing the amount of metal filings and bits of stuff which I used to see on them. With regards to oil change, personally I think its always better to drain the oil out via the sump plug. But, when I was doing a lot of miles and servicing cars every month I used to use an oil pump which is what most garages would use in order to save time. Its a tube which you stick in the dipstick hole, connected to a pump. It literally sucks all the oil out through the tip stick hole. It saves jacking cars up and messing about underneath them.

I thought with imports that you got an age related numberplate when registering in the UK. So, if thats an (for example) 2006 car, then it would have been given a 06 plate. Unless Nissan have had it sitting in a field for 3 years and are registering it as a "new" car in 2009.

I was looking into a shed because I rake up the miles on my zed. I do 100 a day getting to work and back and at 25mpg thats a lot of cash on fuel. But, whilst I could easily buy a cheap diesel for 500quid which would cost me nothing to run, its the insurance which is going to throw the whole idea out of the window. Even on admiral multi-car, I was looking at about £600 extra to insure a 2nd car. Add onto that road tax, an MOT, a yearly service and factor in maybe £150 a year on other bits which need replacing or repairing. And it worked out that I wouldnt be any better off than just using the zed full time. Its a shame as id love a shed, maybe a 4x4 or something which I could use as a 2nd car to drop that mileage on the zed.

The spec says its 313bhp too. But your right, no bonnet bulge so it cant be that engine. Its either not a 09 or its some strange old 2006 car Nissan didnt register until 2009. Nice wheels tho!

I remember paying nearly £500 to insure my first car, third party only. The car was a 30 year old 850cc mini which cost me £20 to buy. My brother on the other hand, his first car was my 205 1.9 Gti and that came in at £800.
-
My insurance renewal is coming up soon as well. Just had a quick look on confused.com and Admiral is coming in at £860, (im nearly 40 and have 18 years ncb). If I change it from parking on driveway to the road, that knocks 11quid off it, bringing it down to £849. Adding a wife jacks the premium up even more. Interestingly, a Range Rover sport 4.2v8 is coming in at only £500 fully comp and a 2 year old Nissan GT-R valued at nearly £40,000 is only 700quid.
-
I really think you are going to struggle to get it much cheaper than 1600quid with your age and ncb. In fact, I think you have done very well to get it for that price. Have you tried Adrian Flux? They usually seem good for young drivers. Good luck with the hunting.

Latest sat nav that I can fit into my cubby hole?
rabbitstew replied to HassanZ's topic in 350Z General
Could always retro fit a OEM one in? Im really happy with mine, and have just updated it to the latest 2011 maps too. Only thing I miss with it is not having speed camera alerts. -
Good luck mate, hope the bodyshop does a good job.

Excellent that Toby`s doing this.

Seems strange to me as I thought it worked like this: You phone up a broker for a quote. Broker goes to underwriter, underwriter says "thats £200". Broker adds on their bit of profit and says to you "thats £4000". You exclaim "do I have mug written on my forehead, I can get it for £1000 elsewhere" Broker says "hang on, let me have a look..... yes sir, we can match the £1000 quote you have" You say "wow, thats a bargain, i`ll take it". So quite what relevance the underwriters quote to the broker is I do not know, as I seriously doubt the broker would be giving that quote straight to the customer.

Looking at the size of the drivers gut, that lorry needed 1900bhp just to shift him. Reminds me of a very old episode of Top Gear where they got one of the lorrys from the truck racing championship and dragged it against a Sierra Saphire Cosworth, and the lorry beat it.

They maybe think you're too old to drive anywhere in it now! (Renault 5 Turbo! That's a blast from the past! You either had one of those, a 205 GTI or a Golf GTI in those days!) maybe I am too old! At the time I remember reading the Autocar review of the GT Turbo. Its rivals were the 205 Gti, Metro Turbo, Golf GTI, Fiat Uno Turbo, Escort RS Turbo and the citreon AX Gti. Autocar said that the GT Turbo has supercar performance, and with a 0-60 time of 7seconds dead it was the quickest hot hatch out there. I think the Mastro Turbo came in slightly quicker at the time but noone wanted them. lol... So, I immediately went out and bought the GT Turbo simply because it was the quickest and handled like it was on rails. I soon up`d the 120bhp of the stock one upto 160, then got carried away and the car ended up with around 225bhp. Ive had 3 of them actually, and know them inside out. The 205 Gti 1.9 was also a great car, I had one of them for a while, but it just didnt have the "thrown back in seats with the g-force" of the 5 Turbo. Memories!!!
