Ive not got around to lubing mine, but its on the list for this weekend if the weather is good enough (its been snowing here). I`ll be using just normal silicon spray. One thing I read about when I was researching the roadster is that there are these big elastic band strap things on the underside of the hood which help pull the hood back. Apparently they can loose their elasticicity over time causing a similar problem. I think there was a recall or you can buy new bands which resolve the problem. However, they are not easy to fit. Good luck!

$250!!!!!! -
£1.04 closing price. Would be good except: I average £1.85 and I convinced my g/friend it was a great buy at £2.25 and my mum at £3.39 and father-in-law at nearly £4. It can't come soon enough. They don't talk to me any more......... Think I bought in at about £3, so it will be a while before I get back into profit.

Just over 1500miles on the clock now from new and its loosening up nicely. Still giving exactly 48mpg on a full tank of diesel which is a little disappointing as our 10 year old Peugeot 307 HDI shed returns exactly the same mpg and is worth 1/10th of the price. I did quite a few miles in the Juke Saturday and quite enjoyed them. Its a nice car to drive. You do get a weird sense of being so high up though - looking out of the back window and you can see straight over the car behinds roof sometimes. Being FWD the traction wasnt great even though its got that 4x4 stance. A big problem I found at the weekend is that there seems to be a hell of a turbo lag. For example, if your approaching a roundabout, rolling along, and you leave it in 2nd gear. Normally I would boot it and get on to the roundabout nice and quick if something is coming. Or at least thats been the case with my other cars. With the juke its a big no-no. Floor it in 2nd at a walking pace and there is absoultely nothing. Zilch. It kinda rolls forward as if someone is slowly pushing it, then the turbo kicks in and off you go. So, you find yourself having to drop down to 1st in order to get a quick rolling get away, which isnt ideal. Once the turbo is spining, there arnt any problems. I guess I could slip the clutch a bit, but didnt want to mess it up. Still cant get over the lack of boot space though. We did a bit of shopping at the weekend, and litterally 4 shopping bags filled the boot. At least we dont loose the car in the car park. It kinda stands out a bit as you dont see many around our area. My missus`s boss loves it so much after seeing my missus`s car, shes gone out last weekend and ordered a Juke for herself already! So soon there will be 2 in her works car park.

Where are the traction control and VDC switches?
rabbitstew replied to Dynamic Turtle's topic in 350Z General
Which on the dash, to the right of the steering wheel, below the level of the ignition Depends on where you put your knee. -
Freezing cold temps = better induction = more MPG?

Im getting 48mpg from a Peugeot 307 2.0HDi and the missus`s new 1.5 Dci Juke atm. -

On mine the traction control button is near the drivers right knee! If its a JDM import then I believe some of these have a button near the heated seats button on the centre tunnel. -

Strangely, with the Alfa being our first TDI, we are finding less of an impact from the cold compared to the Zed. However, that might just be better right foot control in the Alfa than the Zed Zed seems to drop a good few (3-4) MPG in the cold whereas the Alfa stays about the same - maybe 2MPG different. Guess it depends how the engines are designed Definately though, cold air is more dense and the ECU will adjust to use more fuel to compensate. Also, as the engine takes longer to warm up the engine will run open loop for far longer than when its warmer outside, which results in it running richer and using more fuel. On my Golf GT TDI id get about 50mpg in winter and during the summer months that would go up to 58mpg upwards. Id easily get 63mpg on a drive home from work in summer. Think its cos diesel gets pretty thick in winter compared to summer. Your right though. Right foot control does help. I find when im driving a diesel i tend to just poodle along at 70mph on the dot and really try to drive economical. With my old turbo renault 5, id definately notice an increase in power when it was cold. But then turbo cars are more prone to heat soakage etc... and cold air makes a difference. -
I thought it was you had to be the registered keeper, which is different to the owner. As for how much of the car you have to own, then as long as your down as the registered keeper on the logbook then for as far as anyone knows you could just have the logbook & the chasis plate of the vehicle. I dont think insurance companies are too worried about checking the car is a physical car. At the end of the day they would be still taking your cash and have 0% risk of ever paying out on it if you were insuring a chasis plate/logbook. The NCB thing is a right pain that it is on the vehicle and not you. Ive 3 seperate insurance policies (did have 4), just so I can drive some of my vehicles. Its all a bit of a scam. Take for example 2 cars. You insure both cars 3rd party only just for you to drive and they are kept on private property when not being used. You can only physically drive one at once and therefore the only risk the insurance company will only ever have is to pay out a claim involving the 1 car you are driving if you were to crash it. The value of the cars is irrelevant as with 3rd party they will only ever need to pay out for the vehicle you crash into and not your car itself. In this situation, you would have thought the insurance company would give you 1 premium based upon the highest risk vehicle you will be driving. So, if you had a Fiesta and a Ferrari, then they would use the highest risk car on which to base their premium. Of course, if you then use the ferrari at w/ends and the fiesta in the week, the insurance company will be laughing as you would be paying the high ferrari premium but the risk for the insurance company would be lower as you`d be driving a fiesta. So surely they would be happy that they have a lower risk and your happy as you can use the old fiesta in the week. However, insurance companies dont see it like that. For a start, 3rd party is more expensive than Fully Comp. I had a quote for 3rd party for one of my cars for 600quid. Whereas Fully Comp came back at 80quid. So clearly, its not based upon risk, but stats as more claims used to be made by 3rd party only drivers. Also, insurance companies dont seem to see a driver having a 2nd car as being a lower risk benefit for themselves, and so dont let you apply your NCB to it. They treat you as if you were a new customer with no NCB on it. In my case, ive my zed, and want an old banger to use in the week. Which ever way I tried to insure the old banger I was looking at over 500quid a year, even on some old £50 heap of scrap. So called "multicar policies" where the insurance company claims they will give you a discount for insuring a 2nd car actually came back as more expensive than insuring the car seperately. So now I have 19 years NCB on my main car, 12 or more years NCB on my R1 motorbike, 4 years NCB on another motorbike, (although i havent insured it for a few years now, so i expect ive "lost" that,) and 3 years NCB on the wifes car. Thats nearly 40 years NCB combined!

Reminds me of the 70`s bodykits you`d get on rally cars!

XEL seem to be hotting up a bit...

Have to agree with this. I resprayed the alloys on one of my old cars white and it looked shocking. It reminded me too much of the white oz racing rally wheels you see.

rabbitstew replied to Karlp's topic in 350Z General
I always get worse mpg when its cold. Even more so on my diesel cars. -
Fairly normal. Mine does the same occasionally when the weather is colder. Nissan recommend you dont put the hood down if its less than 8 degrees (or something like that). You can make the hood go back up a fraction, then down and that seems to work. Lubing it as per the tsb can help.

Sounds good, you`ll have to keep us all updated with its progress. Welcome!!!

My mate forwarded me that earlier in the week whilst i was at work and i ended up having to leave the room as i was laughing so much. Brilliant!!!!

Welcome!!! Im in the Cambridge area too, so if you need any advice or want me to check out any cars give me a shout! Are you sure the 350z is cheaper to insure? When I got my quotes, it was miles more expensive for me to insure a 350z compared to an Evo or a Scooby.

Ive got a 32gb micro sd card in my phone, bringing its capacity up to something like 50gb. One thing to be aware of is that there are a lot of fake sd cards out there, so make sure you buy it from a reputable seller. The 32gb`s were a premium price when I bought mine, but they may have gone down in price a bit now as they have been out for a little while.

OMG - my neighbour totally did that to hide his SATNAV enabled HU in his Toyota Yaris. He printed out a picture of some old cr**py tape player, stuck it to a cardboard frame which sits over the top. I told him it maybe quicker to just 'eject / remove' the screen !

did loads of damage. the arches to get the front off and the rear quarters to get the back off. and literally ripped the spoiler off. its only held on with 2 bolts. no damage to the spoiler as it pulls though the metal of the boot lid. there was a big spate of this happening and them ending up on ebay. it had to be someone who knew what he was doing tho. that the problem with being on an open forum. anybody can get tip and advice on how to do things like this. Mental!
