I am led to believe that the reds are only getting issued when a change of owner is notified or when you buy another car new or preowned. You will not have any issues when you come to p/x Alex Yep, its only for new logbooks issued. I moved house last year and had to send off all the log books for my vehicles (about 12 or so), and ended up with a massive pile of shiny new red ones. The red ones also state on the front in big letters something like "this does not prove ownership of the vehicle" which sort of puts you off a bit the first time you see it.

At which point they will blow the entire lot on an XR3i or something.....

Its always moments like that when you think how close you were. I remember years back I was changing a carb on a mini and when your bent over under a mini`s bonnet you dont have much room. I was just re-attaching the choke cable which was a solid piece of wire so it had a bit of spring to it. It pinged up and hit me just to the right of my eye. I thought "phew" that was close. Then carried on trying to connect it. It did it again, this time it hit me straight in the eye. God knows how it didnt burst it. I thought I had gone blind, my eye was all blurry and wouldnt stop watering for about 2 hours. Eye felt really bruised, but after about 3 hours my eye sight was back to normal. But I think we all do silly stuff like that. Think next worse thing I did was get a mouth full of diesel whilst syphoning it out of a car. I dont mind a mouth full of petrol, but diesel.... jesus... nothing would get rid of the taste for about a week. Hot vindaloo, mouth wash, whiskey... nothing... all I could taste was diesel for 7 days.

How to - Repaint interior door trim/mirror switch

Because of the rough kinda finish ive had with matt spray paints ive tended to use satin instead normally as it seems to be smoother. -
How to make your zed feel 4 times as quick!

Will do. Its as if the mechanism is getting caught on something. You can see the motor has enough torque and is trying to pull the roof down, but its not having it. Its had to see when you look, so i`ll have to enlist an assistant to operate the mechanism whilst i look at the roof. Will see if i can do that this weekend. Strange how yours only did it once, then now is okay though! -
Nice one!!!!

Got to love it. Car mechanics. Either goes like a piece of cake or becomes a total nightmare.

Is it quite a rough finish? Sometimes when ive done matt paint it shows marks easily as its been a kind of rough finish. Looks very nice tho, i need to do mine as mine has a few scratches on it - from the previous owner i hasten to add. -
Think we have all done the same thing. Everyone I know has ran into the back of some one at a junction where the person in front has stalled. Bad luck on it being your own car you ran into. Doh!

Well had another nice ride out this weekend. Weather was great, so roof down and had great fun giving it some beans with the K1 screaming out. Made me realise even more just how loud that exhaust is. It really is shocking. At one point someone in a 2009 BMW 335i coupe thought they would try and show me how quick their car was off a roundabout in 2nd gear. I was actually supprised at just how much quicker my zed was. In fact he tried it several times without any luck. Certainly put a big smile on my face. Reserving the zed for just weekend fun definately seems to be the way forward, and with the nice weather coming, im looking forward to more roof down action. Only downer was that my roof struggled to go down properly. It got to the very last stage when the folded roof goes into the storage compartment, just before the plastic lid comes down and it just wouldnt go in. It was as if it was stuck. A few open/close open/close`s and it jolted down okay. Its as if something was sticking on it. I`ll have to try and investigate a bit more when I get some spare time. -
350z as a daily commuter/used for work purposes..?
rabbitstew replied to FUG's topic in Introductions & Welcome Messages
I use mine for daily commute. 500 miles a week. (22500 miles a year) Costs me about 400quid a month in fuel and 460quid a month on everything else. Not cheap at all. The main downer I find is that after using the car for work every day, you really dont feel like using it much at the weekend, it kinda takes the magic out of it. This last couple of weeks ive been lucky enough to use my missus`s old car during the week and now when the weekend comes I just cant wait to get in the zed, and my god, the zed now feels so much more awesome as a weekend fun toy! -
Spotted filling up at Tesco extra Kettering. Hope you were putting momentum in it. ??54 XTR

Something for the pet lovers on here

I cant imagine my cat sitting there for long enough to be petted. He`d probably break the thing in about 3mins by bashing it with his paws. -
Wasnt that one grey?!

Thank god. Im spending £400 a month easily just on fuel atm getting to work & back. Im guessing there must be a maximum limit you can use at one time on this offer tho, else id get a load of jerry cans and fill them up to make the most of it. Not sure I fancy spending £60 in morrisons twice a week just to get some money off each time i fill up.

When I got mine, the first thing I had on my list was to replace the orange reflectors with clear ones. But, the missus pointed out to me that the orange reflectors actually match my orange interior and look okay. Here we are 12 months on and ive still not changed them and they look okay on my car. I guess if you dont have the alezan orange interior then the reflectors really do stand out and dont match the car at all.

Very good point there Ekona. Think you may have hit the nail on the head. So maybe the ones ive met are just following their training orders, rather than being arrogant.

I remember this car! It was used as a test car by topgear for a number of months, then used as a track day car by a looney for about 2 years before he stacked it and had it resprayed. Last I heard the big end was knocking and he wanted to off load it quick..... ........only joking! Looks like a nice clean car there! Enjoy it!!!

Sounds like a very good result to me.

Have to say in my limited experience of dealing with cops virtually 99% of them have had an "attitude". Its as if the ones i dealt with felt that they are god and you are just something they trod in. Your guilty until proven innocent kinda thing. Even the majority of the non-traffic cops ive dealt with have been the same. Its very strange. Its as if its something they teach them in training. Its very similar to the attitude some doormen have on a saturday night. They are god and you are scumbags. Kinda of power trip thing, like someone else mentioned. I remember even when I was at school, there was a lad there whose dad (and mum) were both coppers and they were just the same. The kid grew up with the same attitude and used to bully all the kids at school - until he tried bullying me and I smacked him in the head. From then on he stopped bullying the other kids - at least when I was around. Last I heard he had actually become a bouncer. I accept they have a hard job to do, and I for one certainly wouldnt want to do it. So maybe they deal with so many low lifes every day that they end up just assuming everyone is the same and treating them all similar?

Even cheaper if you park it on the road outside!!!! Whilst not related to zed insurance, but shows you how greedy insurance companies are... I just had my motorbike insurance company call me up and remind me that my bike insurance is due for renewal next month. Bare in mind I paid £66 last year to insure my Yamaha R1 for 12 months. So, they go through my details and come back with a quote of £146 this year. Whilst im on the phone to her i quickly load up confused.com, put my details in and the cheapest on there is coming back at £67 for same cover. Point this out to the lady on the phone. She immediately knocks the premium down to £80. I haggle a bit more and she halves the price on legal protection (not that i wanted it anyway) and gets the premium down to £65 for 12 months, including legal protection & protected ncb. So £146 down to £65 in the space of 1 phone call. Normally protected NCB is about 30quid a year, so makes me wonder if i could have got the premium down to about 20quid a year had i tried harder and removed protected ncb & legal protection. Ive no idea why an R1 is 1/12 the price of my zed to insure. Maybe if you crash a motorbike your`ll do less damage than stacking a zed.?

To be honest ive never been pulled much by the police. Even when I had hot hatches. Mainly because i was never the sort of person who`d go out on a Saturday night in my car like a lot of young lads do. I only ever used to drive to work & back, then spend all weekend tuning them and polishing them. I did have a funny incident once when id been out on the town and was driving back home in my Renault 5 GT Turbo. It was about 2am one Saturday morning and I immediately noticed this police car behind me as I drove out of the city centre. After following me for about 1/2 mile he pulls me over , looks around the car and says "do you know why we pulled you over?". "No officer" I replied. "Because you were driving too cautiously" says the copper. I felt like saying "Of course I was driving cautiously, im hardly likely to be driving like an idiot with an f`ing police car up my a$$ now am I??!?!"
