  1. BUT when do you drive the Zed? I'm having this problem - I've got a diesel clio but I never drive it unless its icy or snow or really bad weather. Soon as it's dry i'm in the zed which costs a fortune. I'm now wondering whether its worth keeping the clio at all because I just can't stop myself driving the zed! Exactly. Its a toss up between what do you want really. Do you drive the zed in the week for work, which costs you more and you spend most of the time sat there in traffic not enjoying the driving experience of the zed - or do you save some money by driving a shed and leave an expensive car sitting in the driveway just for weekend use... its a fine balance really. For the last 12 months ive used the zed nearly every day and put a lot of mileage on it on my daily commute, so am trying the other approach over the next few months. So far im finding when I do drive the zed I enjoy it more!
  2. I have seen everything now. A towbar on the 350z.....
  3. Thats the ps - bhp at the fly is about 309. The dyno graphs are taken at the hubs - hence the lesser bhp readings, but as a rough guide I would say that is about 315 at the fly. According to Mark@Abbey, he says about 325 at the fly. That's good Thats very good for what is very low amount of performance mods! Makes me wonder if i should get mine done now!
  4. I think it depends on the vehicle you are buying, how rare they are and the price. I had a guy come all the way down from Glasgow down to Cambridge to buy a Ducati 748SPS off me once. He agreed to buy it from me without even seeing it in the flesh. Namely because I was advertising it at a very reasonable price indeed, so it was well worth the trip for him. If your unsure about cars, and from the sounds of it you said you had only bought 1 previous car. Id definitely get an RAC or AA inspection on the car. Its well worth the money and will flag any problems. If anything goes wrong which they have missed then you have some insurance with them that they will cover it. They really are thorough. My ex had an AA inspection done on her Ford when she bought it and they flagged up the gear box was on the way out. God knows why she bought the car but she did (was before she met me), and sure enough 4 months later the gearbox blows up on it.
  5. Looks nice, but think you need to upload some more pix for us to judge properly.
  6. You picked a cracking day to collect your new car. Lovely & sunny where I am! Enjoy it and take it steady!!!
  7. Good review. I hadnt really considered a 335i myself until I came up against a nice coupe version the other weekend and we had a bit of fun together seeing how it compared performance wise against my zed from a rolling start in 2nd gear upto err.. sensible speeds. My zed was significantly quicker, in fact I had to back off the accelerator each time else id have ran into the back of the 335. After that I was intrequed about them, as I really liked the look of the coupe. So, i did some googling on them and they do seem to be very nice cars. Mixed reviews on them as you get with any car, but over all everything seems positive. Esp when you compare them to the cost of an M3. And that mpg is simply amazing when you consider the performance and size of the engine.
  8. Pretty bad collision, hope the occupants survived Don't hold out much hope for the driver looking at that Reminds me of when I was at uni and my mate gave me a lift home one day in his car. He had just fitted a new interior out of of a sportier model into his car and I noticed a strange stain on the passenger seat i was sitting in. When I pointed this out to him he commented that the interior had came out of an accident damaged car and that was blood......
  9. One of my mates in the US was moaning that its costing him $50 to fill his car up now and he thought that was rediculous....
  10. Yep, you may well have to travel to get one. When I was looking for my roadster, there were only 3 for sale within 100miles of my location and one of those was sold before I could look at it. Ended up travelling about 70miles to get mine and was very lucky to snap it up straight away literally minutes before someone else was going to buy it.
  11. My god! Think thats beyond easy repair...
  12. One plus point of the zed`s thirst for fuel is that my tesco clubcard points are racking up like mad which makes the missus happy as she can spend them on things she likes!
  13. Thats a cracking idea actually. I have 2 similar resources workin for me atm and I didnt think about using them for this purpose... [makes note!]
  14. Well their chief did say it was a disappointing result.
  15. http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2012 ... nal-injury Admiral insurance makes £300m profit this year. Speaks for itself really....
  16. Your right in doing a service yourself asap as you have no idea what they did or put in it. Good luck!
  17. Feel sorry for whoever buys that unless they know the full history of the car.
  18. Definitely cheaper to run a shed rather than a zed - although it may depend upon the miles you do. Ive been fortunate to be able to run a shed this last 2 weeks instead of my 350z. 350z cost me £115 per week on fuel to get to work and back. (25mpg) Peugeot 307 HDI Diesel costs me around about £50 per week for the same miles. (50mpg) So whilst super unleaded is roughly the same price as diesel im getting twice the fuel economy. If I used the shed for 12 months work commuting, i would save around £3250 on fuel alone. When you factor in the other costs involved, my zed is costing me around £900 a month in total with fuel, insurance, tax, mot, depreciation etc.. Whereas the shed works out at only £420 per month.
  19. Looks like they have all been up and down this last week due to the economic climate. AEX rocketed like mad, then dropped, RRL dropped after yesterdays anouncement... etc..
  20. Thats all perfectly normal for insurance companies. They know that a certain percentage of people will just assume the price the insurance company is offering is the fair price the car is worth and accept it. My brother had someone write his car off a few years back and the insurance company`s first offer was £1500. I looked on autotrader and an identical car, with same mileage, condition & specification would cost him £5200 to purchase. We wrote the insurance company a letter saying that the insurance value is the cost to replace the car, and enclosed about 8 print outs showing what that car would cost to buy and how much it would cost him to replace. They wrote back and agreed with us and paid £5200. Just another example of how insurance companies try to rip you off.
