Welcome! Out of interest, how did the Z4M compare to the 370z? There was a discussion on here a while back about the subject and some people felt the Z4M would have miles better performance, but others felt there wasnt much between them.

I know I considered breaking it up myself but as the most I can do is change the oil and plugs so not a job for Mr Numpty. 21 watchers and counting! Yep and you have to factor in the time and hassle breaking a car takes. Ive broken quite a few cars up in my time and sold the parts and you always find some bits sell straight away and other bits you have sitting around for years until they sell. And Neil is right, you`ll normally get a bit of activity on the bidding first thing, then nothing much until near the end. Sometimes things will rocket within the last few minutes as people frantically try and slip a snipe bid in at the last second.

And we think zed prices are bad. I saw a mint 2005 RX8 with 21k on the clock for sale this week for a fraction over £2500. Imagine the part ex price a dealer would give you on that? -

Was telling my dad about this yesterday and he says "well now you mention it, your mums car insurance has just come through. £250 they want" So I look on the net... sure enough, the cheapest quote I can find is £83 for the same cover, with at least 20 companies all coming in at the £100 mark or cheaper. Needless to say they were well pleased that id helped them out!

Good luck with the sale. I think you have gone the best route. Its amazing what will sell on ebay. Ive actually sold smashed up written off old bangers on there for £150 in the past, rather than take them down the scrap yard, so someone will snap that up. If you think how much money all the bits are worth - the inteior, engine, wheels etc... it soon adds up. My local breakers will pay £100 a car atm. A few years back they would only give you £30.

Bit obvious, but roadster specific, make sure the hood works perfectly fine. Take it up & down fully - make sure it has a nice smooth operation. Sometimes they have been known to get a little clunky and stick half way down.

Welcome, plenty of good threads on here advising on cars and what to look out for. I think it really boils down to what you can afford. The HR engine`d cars came out in 2007 and had 309bhp. The engine was 80% new over the previous engines. Nissan really developed it well, it even had a dual air take ram air system which gave the car more power at 60mph. A common misconception is down to the fact they are noted as the 313 model, which a lot of people assume means they have 313bhp. In fact, most car dealer for sale adverts I see state they have 313bhp... when really they are only 309bhp. The older zeds only had 276bhp, and the "rev up" models had nearly 300bhp which from memory were around 2005/2006. Some buyers opt for the older zeds as you can pick them up quite cheaply now. They then fit a modified pendulum, different air intakes, different exhaust, then a remap etc. etc. and you can end up with maybe 300bhp. You will pay less road tax as cars made after 2006 will pay the higher rate (£460!), but you may pay more insurance as your car will be modified. Good luck! -

I applogise if you mis read my post. I was not trying to put anyone off buying the car, only trying to help the seller sell it. I can see this is a mint genuine car and would make a very good buy for anyone. If I had seen this prior to buying mine then I would have more than likely bought it as it was exactly what I was looking for. It looks like a totally brand new genuine car. I was only trying to advise based upon my 20 years experience in buying and selling cars, as well as helping friends and family with their purchases. So going through my original post and trying to explain it a bit better!... Virtually everyone who I know who wants to buy a car, the first place they look is Autotrader. Its been that way for as long as I can remember. Due to the higher cost of advertising these days, Autotrader tends to mainly be car dealers or private individuals selling higher end cars (like the zed). Therefore a lot of people now tend to also use good old ebay for selling their cars now, as you can hit a very large target audience. Apart from those 2 sites, Pistonheads is also another good site people look at as they have a large classified section. Not many people I know have actually joined a marque specific forum (like this one) when they were looking to buy a car. Sure, some people do, but most dont. Outside of that, the only other main option is to search for Nissan Used Approved Cars via the dealer network. So my suggestion to advertise in Autotrader & Ebay was purely from my own experience of how to hit the largest amount of potential buyers. Regarding the price. Its entirely to the OP as to what price he wants. But, again, from my perspective if you look at currently for sale cars like ive been doing this week, a 2007 313 roadster with say 30k on the clock typically is advertised for £12->£13k. Last summer the same 2007 car was £15k to £16k. So, based upon that I would expect a totally minter 2008 one like the OP`s one to be in the £14k region I suggested - to fit inline with current prices. With regards to having a car for sale since November possibly putting joe public off - thats something ive had several friends experience, and I even have read comments on forums in the past where if a car is for sale for 6 months or more, people usually wonder why it hasnt sold and assume (quite wrongly) something maybe wrong with it. That, coupled with lowering the price quite considerably over the months to the stage where it seems to cheaper than other similar ones, might generate the wrong impression with joe public. Obviously we all know its a genuine car as we know the history of it. We know the seller just unfortunately started trying to sell at the wrong time of year, and now has lowered the price to try and encourage a buyer - but again, joe public from my experience wont know this. They just go from what they see for sale each week and notice the same car still for sale. As for a forum member buying. Most people on here do already have a zed. As the OP has found out, selling one isnt easy. So, if for example a member on here (like myself) wanted to buy this zed, i know id have to go through the same pain to sell my current car before I could buy his. Sure, there may be the odd member on here who doesnt have a zed and would be interested, but compared to the number of potential buyers out there on ebay / autotrader / piston heads etc.. that number will be very very small. So, again, i appologise if my post was mis read, im not taking anything away from the OP, or trying to suggest his car isnt worth buying, im only trying to offer advice from my experience to help him sell it. Indeed the guy a few posts up also basically said the same as me - he felt the price had lowered by more than needed, that the forum wouldnt reach a wide audience and that they bought theirs from autotrader. I wish the OP all the best with selling, and hopefully now the nice sunny weather is here, the car will sell quickly. -

In all fairness the OP is going about selling this in totally the wrong way. Trying to sell a roadster in winter when the convertible prices are at their lowest, and also before Christmas when noone has any money. Then, because its not selling they assume its because they have priced it too high. So, come spring time when convertible prices go up by around 15% the OP then drops the price even further?!?!?!!! Where else are you advertising this car? Dealers would be putting this up for about 15 -> 16 grand now on their forecourt based upon the prices for very similar spec`d 2007 models last year. The problem you may have now is that you have dropped the price down so much potential buyers will wonder what is wrong with it. Why is it so cheap? Why has he been trying to sell it since November. And that will put people off. Id get some nice photos up on autotrader & ebay where most people look for their cars, and put the price up to £14k. That seems to be a very very fair price for a 2008 Roadster. Ive seen coupe`s for 12k and the roadster always fetches a premium over them, especially low mileage good spec`d ones. I really doubt anyone on here would want to buy it, as most people on here already have a zed and even if they wanted to buy another one would have to go through the hassle of selling theirs first. Good luck with the sale. -

Looking forward to seeing how the door handles look. They are a kind of a "feature" of the zed and make it stand out, so will be strange to see them colour coded. Had to laugh at the girlfriend not liking the exhaust. Mine went ape when I first fitted my K1 system. She had her hands over her ears the whole journey saying "make it stop, make it stop", then had a splitting headache for 2 days. Now she refuses point blank to get in my car. So guess thats kind of a result!

I love it when they get the book out. The book only shows what price the car would make in an auction. They use this to say "look, this is all its worth". When in reality the figures are quite different. How many people would want to buy a zed from an auction? No normal man on the street unless they are a confident mechanic / car buyer. Buying from auction very often means the car has problems and couldnt sell anywhere else. Therefore the prices are obviously a lot lower than you`d expect a decent car would sell for either privately or at the dealer to reflect the higher risk involved. If you have ever looked at the "glasses guide" you`ll be amazed at the sort of rock bottom prices they claim you can buy cars for. It really all boils down to how likely the dealer thinks the car will sell and what profit they can make. If "the book" is showing around 5000quid for your car, then privately it could be around 6500quid and the dealer may try and sell it for 8000quid. (as a very rough example of the differences in prices). If its a car the dealer doesnt think will sell on his forecourt - maybe its an old banger, or not the type of car he normally deals in - then he`ll stick it straight in the auction and get the rock bottom price for it. When I sold my last old run about car, the dealer offered me £750 for it against a £16,000 zed. I looked on autotrader / ebay and they were selling for around £2500 in the same condition / mileage as mine, so on ebay it went and I sold it for £2250 i think in the end. Huge difference in price. -
Looks like you are correct. Mileage on our Juke now is 5000 miles. Not bad being as we have only had it a few weeks. I was fortunate enough to be "allowed" by the missus to give it some spirited driving last weekend down some newly found back roads and see how well the engine had loosened up. I have to say I was very very supprised at how "nippy" the little juke felt on the back roads. When the turbo is on song, responsiveness is quick and it certainly feels more powerful than it really is. It certainly bought a smile to my face. The only points I didnt like was the lack of traction the front end seems to have. The wheels spin up pretty easy when you pull away sharpish and I still cant get used to having to drop it into 1st gear when approaching roundabouts - in order to get around the incredible turbo lag the car has. In any other car, you`d leave it in 2nd and just floor it if there was a gap, but you could actually go & make a cup of tea (or cook a pie) in the time it takes for the jukes turbo to kick in. Handling wise, it also handled miles better than I expected for what looks to be a top heavy car. I felt comfortable throwing it around the twisty bends, and yet the ride still felt comfortable. A good compromise. We are also noticing how more and more jukes seem to now be popping up. When we first got this one we didnt see many on the road, but now theres 3 in our village alone which have appeared this last week or so. Fuel consumption is remaining at about 48mpg, but the small fuel tank is becoming anoying. What would have normally have been a once a week fill up in our old diesel is now a twice weekly fill up in the juke. Having to refuel every 3 days is something id just gotten used to in my zed, but is a bit of a pain for a diesel. Shame they couldnt have used that big empty space in the boot where the "optional extra spare wheel" goes to fit a 50L fuel tank rather than what I think is something like a 35L one. All in all still enjoying it.

And ive also just had the same with my travel insurance. Renewal comes through £58 for 12 months. Quick look on a comparison site lists 30 companies offering me the same cover for £25 or less. Missus`s car insurance renewal just hit the door mat this morning too. They are keen to offer us a "very competitive" price of £750 after going into a lengthy spiel on the letter about how car insurance costs have gone up this year. Quick search on confused.com and ive got it down to £250 for exactly the same cover. Thats a staggering improvement. Really makes you wonder how many people just click "renew" and dont bother checking!

Brilliant! Makes some of the dodgy repairs ive done in the past look like top quality craftsmanship!!!

We have one for our cat, have used it for last couple of years and it is amazing. Unfortunately the cat sees it as a "lets savage the owners hand to pieces" play time.

Its because Silver currently is out of fashion. Over the last few years for example ive noticed the colour trends more than usual. A few years back, Black seemed to be the colour to have.. everyone wanted a black car. Then that changed to Silver. Everyone wanted a Silver car. Then this last 12 months White cars have been the colour everyone wanted. I remember the Police force used to only ever use white cars, but it got to the stage that noone wanted a white car ever, so they really struggled to sell them on. White cars were associated with the police or reminded people too much of white vans! So the police then started buying black & silver cars and using them instead all stickered up hoping they would be easier to sell. As others have said, dealer prices are usually laughable at the best. Its because they have to make money. They will nearly always offer you less than you`ll get privately, then they will sell the car for a few grand more than private price to make a nice profit. However... if they are desperate to off-load the car you are hoping to part ex your car for, then you can sometimes get a better deal. Unfortunately with a car like the zed, not everyone can afford one, so the prices will drop. Its not just zeds, its all high performance big engined cars. Take for example the E46 M3... you couldnt get a ropey high mileage one for less than 10k about 12 months back. Now ive seen them for nearly half that price. Im dreading selling my zed. I expect the amount of money I will loose on it after just 1 years ownership could infact have easily purchased one of the M3`s i mentioned above.
