Theres one in the Coventry transport museum. I did actually see one on the road drive by my house a few years back, but they are pretty rare cars now. There was also one in an episode of wheeler dealers not so long ago, which they shipped in from America if i remember rightly. I remember talking to someone on another forum years ago about them as he had one, and he showed me a pic of an owners club meet at his house - literally there was about 20 deloreans all parked up on the pavements down this little cul-de-sac in the middle of nowhere. Imagine stumbling across that, you`d have to do a serious double take!

Serpentine drive belt shredding problem on HR?
rabbitstew replied to rabbitstew's topic in 350Z Technical
Yeah i did read that if the tensioner is knackered then that can cause a wobble or mis-allignment and wear the belt quicker than expected, but i had the Nissan mechanic check it when they replaced the belt last April and he reckoned it was all fine. Had it been knackered that would have been free under warranty apparently. Of course... im assuming the mechanic actually bothered to check and wasnt just telling me it was fine! Be interesting to see how your belt looks. Mine was showing wear at 25k and now again at 40k dead. -
I remember seeing a delorean for sale at a local garage near me a few years back for 12 grand!

Make sure you factor in all the running costs, esp if you are getting it on finance over 3 years. They soon add up!!! -

Nice! What year is it? -
I was cleaning my zed at the weekend and noticed what i thought was a bit of string under the front of the car tangled around the under shield. I pulled it all out, no end of it. Then opened the bonnet and saw more of this "string" tangled around everything. I soon realised that the string was actually what was left of half the main drive (or serpentine) belt at the front of the car. There was bits of it everywhere. It had basically started to shred the outside of itself. The outer side of it had completely stripped away. I even found a 1foot long chunk of it, about 1ft long & 1cm wide under the bonnet too. You can see some of the belt damage in the pic below. As you can imagine I was a little surprised, especially since I had this belt replaced about 11 months ago by my local Nissan garage - as I noticed the original belt was also showing signs of wear - albeit not as bad as this one is. Googling seems to reveal that this is a common problem on the HR engines - with the belt lasting between 10k and 20k miles. Ive done about 12->15k on this brand new belt. Anyone else experiencing this on their 313 HR? Last time I took it to Nissan for them to replace as the car was under warranty, however after taking £80 off me for fitting the belt they then informed me that even though they would have expected the belt to last 80k miles, not 20k, it wasnt covered under warranty as it was a "consumable" item. So, this time around i`ll just replace it myself. Are there any stronger than OEM belts? Ive heard some people use EPDM belts or Gates... are they better?

I dont think zed owners fall into any particular group as different people will buy a zed for different reasons. Some go for the zed as you can get an older one cheaply now, and it represents a lot of performance for little cash. Others go for the zed as they like to be different from the run of the mill person. Personally I opted for the zed over its rivals - incl porsche, bmw etc. simply because im one of those people who never follows the crowds and likes to be different. In my region zeds are as rare as rocking horse poo so it really gets noticed. It also represented great value for money - even though mine was one of the more expensive zeds out there at the time.

Also found out today that the frost blue leather seats were not an optional extra. It was a choice you could have as standard on the GT pack. With the GT pack you had the choice of either charcoal grey (black in other words), or frost blue seats. The alezan orange seats were an extra extra! i.e. you could only add them as an optional extra (£600) if you had already opted for the optional extra GT Pack.

Midnight 313 Looked at..Is it yours? Plus Question
rabbitstew replied to AMT's topic in 350Z General
I know what you mean about the midnight blue. The only other 313 roadster I looked at when i bought mine (only other one in a 100mile radius of my house in fact) was a midnight blue one. It was a minter, but the colour looked so boring. Sort of colour your`d see on an old mans skoda. Really put me off it. Saying that, i did have an old mini 1000 about 10 years back in the same colour, and with a white roof and white mini cooper bonnet stripes it looked nice. Not sure they would translate onto a zed tho. -
The prefacelift ones had a CD and a remote control. They were listed as an option in the brochure I had from early 2006 but I can't remember the exact price. I believe that a much higher proportion of facelifts had factory SatNavs fitted though. Pete 2004 SatNav was an option at £1K IIRC In my 2007 it was an option at £1400. Mad how they increased the cost of it by so much over 3 years! Greedy so & so`s

Cheers. I noticed a few days back that the gaps between the body panels are very close in some places. Like the front wings to the headlamps. You cant fit a cigarette paper between them. I did wonder then if theres any flexing in the car, then the paint would start to rub off!

What amazes me is that you can park at the opposite end of a carpark where noone has parked, and yet when you come out of the supermarket you can nearly guarantee that someone has now parked next to you - even though rest of carpark is probably still empty. Its the thing i hate most about having a new car is waiting for someone to mark it.

Welcome!!! Your roof seams pulling. Is this the main support which goes directly above your head across the car? Its a common thing where the metal which wraps around that bar gets pulled off it. I took mine back to the main dealer and had them fix it, as i noticed mine was going at 20k miles. Zeds are one of the very few cars I know which seem to be very region specific as to how popular they are. Some people on here in certain areas of the country see no end. Others, like myself very very rarely see any. Ive actually only seen 2 roadsters over the last 12 months on the road. With the coupe`s ive seen about 10 at the most in 12 months. I see hundreds of porsche boxsters, z4`s even the odd z4m, so its really strange how the zed is so rare in some areas. Id love to see a map showing where all the zed owners live!!!!

Well, noticed first scratch on the side of the Juke this weekend. We`d been driving all over the place on Saturday doing the shopping and stuff and must have parked up and got in / out of the car dozens of times and not noticed any scratches. Then Saturday night I noticed the neighbour had guests and had parked their car close to ours. Then on Sunday when we get in it, i immediately notice a scratch on the side of the Juke. Its a pencil line scratch about 2.5->3inches long on the passenger side rear door, but deep enough so you can see the primer. Needless to say the missus isnt happy. But, not much we can do about it really. In general ive noticed because there is no fence between my drive and my neighbours drive, they feel they can use our drive as if it was their own. I actually watched my neighbour doing a 3 point turn half on her drive, half on hers, before nearly driving into the side of my zed as she drove forwards, over my drive, over my lawn and out on to the road. All because she didnt want to ask her friend to move her car which was blocking her in. The other week I looked out and thought we had guests arriving as a car had parked in my drive behind mine and some bloke was wandering about around my car, with his dog running all over my lawn, the dog was sniffing my Rays looking for somewhere to have a slash. Turned out it was someone visiting my neighbour and presumably didnt realise this wasnt her driveway. Unfortunately the missus wouldnt let me go and have words with them, but it looks like im going to have to install a fence or something between the boundaries now just to stop people treating my drive like a public car park.

Unless its a roadster... i recorded over 100db in my cabin with the roof up when I tested my K1. Ive never taken the baffles out yet. I darent. If its this loud with them in, god knows what it will be like with them out. Either that, or I suspect the baffles in mine may be shot in which case taking them out probably wont make much difference. On the plus side, my missus still refuses point blank to get into the zed as whenever we go anywhere in it, her ears are ringing for 2 days afterwards...

You're not kidding, I think they outweigh the actual informative content on here now! I know! Maybe we should put up some sort of sticky. Nearly every insurance thread on here ends up talking about the same thing.....
-
Yep, theres quite a few threads on here about the insurance scam. They will nearly always jack the price of the renewal up by 100% then drop it like a rock when they think you are moving. This last few months I got my R1 motorbike insurance renewal down from £150ish to £65. The zed down from £1200 to around £700, the shed down from £750 to £250 (probably the biggest difference in price), and my mums car down from £250 to £100. All from checking prices on confused.com then calling the original insurance company back. They know that a certain percentage of people will just renew without bothering to check prices and thats what they bank on. I know, my dad always renews his without question, and it was only when I pointed out he`s getting ripped off did he let me look at my mums insurance for her...

I drove past the local garage near where I work this morning and they have upp`d their price of diesel to 150.9 per litre in order to cash in on the panic buying. Last night they were queuing down the road causing massive traffic jams trying to buy it. Luckily I filled up the shed on Tues night for 143.9 a litre. But, with the mileage I do, i`ll be refilling that over the weekend.

Big ones like mines add well over 100

Did he have a nismo sticker on it? Thats supposed to add about 60bhp to the car...

Ive never used copper slip or anything on plugs before.

Yorvic (not sure if ive spelt that right) viking centre is worth seeing. I remember spending some time around that.

Ah, thats where your wrong. The exhaust is probably the most ear numbing at 2000rpm. Whereas if you cruise at 3k or upwards its actually bearable. Ive noticed no difference in mpg before or after with my K1. Done nearly 20k with it on now. Can definitely say you really need ear plugs with it though.
