Thats where your thinking wrong. The ipad is not designed to CREATE material, its designed to VIEW material - which is what it does well. i.e. looking at pictures, reading emails, browsing web. If you want a device where you can quickly create content, do lots of typing, emailing and that kinda thing, then you`d be better off with something else. Thats one reason why I opted for a netbook over an ipad. It was half the price, longer battery, better screen ratio, keyboard etc. etc. Another thing i dont see the point of on the ipad, is why do you need to buy another phone tarrif, where you pay so much per month just to get on the internet through 3g? Cant you just tether it to your current mobile phone and use that as a modem, like you have been able to do with mobiles since they first came out?

I have never felt that the zed has too much power or its unusable on UK roads. The only thing id have preferred is if Nissan had altered the final drive, to lower the top speed and increase acceleration. Whats the point of having a car that could probably hit 170/180mph but restricting it to 155, when in reality your never likely to ever reach anything near that sort of speed in real life. I have several times wondered if i bought the wrong car. However, that was purely because up until this last month I was doing about 2000 miles a month in it, most of which was stuck in traffic on my daily commute and I also worked out the car was costing me around £950 a month - with £500 or more of that being just fuel. - which is more than my mortgage costs me. When your stuck in traffic doing 30mph, unable to use the performance of the car, whilst watching the fuel gauge dropping like a rock you do wonder if its the right choice. However, this last few months ive been lucky to have use of a old diesel shed, which saves me £300 a month on fuel alone, and now when I drive the zed, i enjoy it a whole lot more. I now get that same buzz I got when i first drove the zed, everytime im in it again.

Loads of free stuff... I've paid for a few games, but more free stuff than not. If you're watching movies/videos Ace Player Lite is an absolute must. Bloke at Edinburgh airport last week tried to show his new ipad off to me by demonstrating you could watch movies on it. Due to the ipad having a 4:3 screen like old tellys, you end up with massive black bars taking the top 1/3 and bottom 1/3 of the screen up when you try to watch films. Unless you zoom in and cut half the film off. The ipads are getting cheaper now though. You can get a reburbished ipad 2 direct from apple with new case, new box, new battery etc... for £289.

Yep, that was the last series I think, where they shipped one over from america. Not a bad episode.

I noticed that in general that most tyre fitting places have seriously jacked their fitting prices up if you supply your own tyres. I guess they must be loosing out to online sellers more and more these days. A few years back I could go to any local garage and they`d happily fit my tyres for about a fiver a wheel. When I asked various places a couple of months back, the prices varied from £15 a tyre upto £20 a tyre..... just for fitting!!! With my old shed I very often only pay £15 for a new tyre including fitting!!!
-
Thats a good price. I got some a few months back and am pretty sure I paid about £500 fully fitted at my local tyre place which was the cheapest I could find.

Christ they bring back memories. My mates dad had one back "in the day"... seldom see them these days, most have long since rotted away!

To be honest, it boils down to what the potential buyer`s attitude is. Myself, as mechanic who services all his own cars, family cars and friends cars, I would personally not be put off by a seller who has serviced his car himself, as long as its clear he knows what he is talking about. Personally in that case id actually see it as a bonus and a positive thing over a seller who simply entrusted the YTS lad at the local garage to change his oil & give his car a good thrashing in the process. Someone who has serviced their car themselves knows exactly what oil & parts have gone on it, and know its been done correctly. But, your right, some buyers insist on a FSH and anything other than that they see as a negative.

Only couple of things id say is that things will tend to roll or slide about as its not really designed as a storage area - so make sure you dont put breakables in there, or make sure things are in a sports bag or something. Secondly, please dont forget stuff is in there and put the roof down! Really its strange as to why Nissan didnt make better use of that wasted space. My missus`s old Peugeot 206CC used to have the roof fold into the boot. The boot had a divider bit of canvas you pulled out and clipped in place effectively dividing the boot in half. That allowed you to see how much stuff you could in the boot with the roof down. This was wired up to the roof, so if the divider wasnt in place you couldnt operate the hood as a safety feature to avoid squashed shopping. Its a shame Nissan didnt do something similar as the boot on the roadster is pretty small.

Yep. I think they were actually called Frost Grey rather than Frost Blue - my mistake. If you google 350z Frost Grey you can see some pix of them. In addition, on the roadster, if you had the frost interior you could spec a grey roof to match!

They look more like a dirty grey colour. Hence maybe thats why they were never popular and now are rare as hens teeth.

It has terrible performance. The engine produced around 130hp after all the US emmission controls were put on it and 0-60 was tested at something like 10.5seconds which is really slow for a car which originally was supposed to be a super car. My old golf diesel was quicker than that!. Thats one reason why it didnt really take off as well as they hoped and sales suffered. Also the original cars had a chasis based upon a lotus esprit and apparently handled really well, but the actual release cars had the ride height messed with causing them to handle like a sack of potatoes. So, it ended up as a poor handling slow car, but with cool doors. If it wasnt for back to the future the car wouldnt be as popular as it was and its now something of an 80`s icon.

Snow?!!! Its roof down weather here in Cambridgeshire. Its a bit cooler than it was yesterday, but still about 12 degrees atm and warm enough to wear a t-shirt.

If the owner had a P1 last March then it would be due either a P2 or P3 (actually they are the same), around 9k or 1 year later. If the owners only done 4k miles then thats very low miles, and the car only has 45k on the clock which is again quite low. Normally you`d typically be expecting the 8 year P3 service to be done at 72k miles. You could use it as a bargaining chip if you want, point out to the seller that the service book suggests it needs a P3 service around now, which would cost you money. The P3 is a "major" service, but very easily done yourself if you have a few spanners and certainly wouldnt cost much. I personally wouldnt let it worry me. As long as the rest of the service matches up nicely. When I bought my car, i had a similar problem because whilst it was 4 years old, it had only done 20k miles. Because I bought from a main dealer, they did a P3 service on it as a matter of course, even though it didnt really need it.

It is a huge storage space. And as long as you dont put the roof down, you can get a serious amount of shopping in there. The plastic hatch is the first thing which opens up when you open the roof, so you just open it up, and hey presto, extra storage. Ideal for that trip to tescos when you realise you cant fit a box of cornflakes standing up in the normal "boot" of the roadster.

Serpentine drive belt shredding problem on HR?

Thanks guys! Be interesting to see how long they last. When i fit my new one i`ll look carefully to see if i can see any reason for the unusually rapid wear. Its not as if the car has a hard life, nearly 99% of my mileage is just cruising at 70mph on motorways. -
THE BEST LETTER YOU COULD COME HOME TOO.....

I had a nice sum back from the tax man last year and nearly everyone i know has also! Sounds like they overcharged a lot of people! -
I`ll have to make a note of them. I usually use black circles or my tyres, but last time my local tyre place actually beat the online prices for me which was a bonus!
-
The HR (2007 onwards) cars like mine only had 1 belt. The earlier cars had 2.

Yes and no. Fuel prices, insurance costs, high road tax and relatively high running costs means that cars like the zed only appeal to a limited number of people, so you are trying to hit a very small audience. Its really a question of waiting for the right person to come along unfortunately. Theres a garage up the road from me which has had a silver zed in their window for at least 6 months without a sale. Some people on here have been trying to sell theirs since before Christmas. You may say "oh the price is too high", and sure enough, if you drop the price of a car enough someone will no doubt buy it, but I dont think price is the main reason why you havent had much interest. Its just one of those things atm unfortunately.

Serpentine drive belt shredding problem on HR?

Wonder what causes it? From the looks of the damage on my belt id have sworn it must have been catching on something, and yet no noises or tell tail signs until the damage is done, when if you listen on idle you can hear a slight noise as the belt goes around now. -
AEX going mad atm. Up 20% today alone......

Admiral were very keen to try and get me to move onto a multi car policy with them when i renewed my car insurance earlier in the year. I must have spoken to them about 5 times at least on the phone and each time they told me they could only apply my ncb to one vehicle on the policy, which meant paying the full price for the 2nd vehicle - so you did well in getting them to apply it to both vehicles. The other factor which made me not go for the multi car policy was that if i was to sell one car half way through the policy they said that unless i insured another car with them, then the insurance on the main car would increase as id non longer be in a multi car policy. There would also be a fee. So effectively they would be forcing me to insure my 2nd car with them, even if their quotation was not the most competitive.
