How do you stop things flying around in the boot!?
rabbitstew replied to Wilja's topic in 350Z General
Nope, ratchet straps are bad, they cut into the skin and leave tool marks for the CSIs. To properly stop bodies from moving about, kill sufficient bodies to fill up entire boot space, job done. Be sure to line the boot with plastic sheeting tho, blood is a pain to get out of the carpet Unfortunately my boot is too small to fit a body in, but i suspect the tardis storage compartment where the roof folds in would happily fit one in there.... -
He also is selling due to "medical reasons" and yet is also buying bodybuilding supplements....

looking to sell uk 350z roadster, pricing advice??
rabbitstew replied to quick wheels's topic in Zeds For Sale
Prices of zeds seem to vary no end, but its certainly the right time of year to sell a roadster. According to all the industry experts the prices of soft tops increase by about 15% over the summer months. Id look on pistonheads classified ads, autotrader & ebay to get a rough idea of what sort of prices they are going for. Then price up for a similar amount bearing in mind your condition, mileage etc. -
What would you do if you were a woman for a day?
rabbitstew replied to Neilp's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Well if i was to take a leaf out of my missus`s book, id sit there watching tv all day, eating chocolate whilst letting my bloke do all the cooking / cleaning and slaving away. Then id go to bed early, say im tired and not in the mood before snoring all night. Then wake up in a mood.. and repeat.... -
My missus`s old car was insured with Swift. We have never had to make a claim before, but unfortunately she ran into the back of another car one day and so we had to make a claim. My god, it was the worst experience ever. The bodyshop they used must have employed Stevie Wonder to do the repairs as we had to send the car back 3 times and it still had so many problems afterwards the car was unusable. Swift didnt want to know, and actually had the cheek to say that a lot of the problems were already there, and other problems happened to coincidentally appear the same time as the accident. I couldnt believe it, the car was a low mileage minter prior to the accident and I had 2 seperate guys from Swift on the phone telling me that there was nothing they were prepared to do. My missus was in tears for weeks as we then had to hire a car at our own expense as her car wasnt safe to drive, before we finally sold it to a dealer for a fraction of what it was worth just to get rid of it. Would never use them again.

Anyone help a new forum user?!? Damaged '10 370 GT
rabbitstew replied to Bollockchop's topic in 370z General
Ive repaired quite a few smashed up cars & motorbikes in my time, and im pretty sure you will be able to get your zed back on the road for a lot less than you think. Buying 2nd hand parts will save loads off the price a bodyshop would quote your insurance company. 370`s are still fairly new, so if you can get panels in the correct colour 2nd hand you`ll be laughing. But its always sods law... you can never get the colour you want when you want it, so you may have to end up doing a bit of painting. Good luck! -
The reason some people love it is that its just easy watching i guess. People probably watched it every week back when it was "new", then now when its repeated to death every day on the cable channels, they watch it because it brings back memories. My missus loves it. She has the entire dvd boxset of all 1000 series`s, and if its on the tv she will STILL sit there & watch it - even though shes watched them millions of times before. Personally I think its a sack of the brown stuff. Ive never found it funny and i can think of much better things to do with my spare time.

The cossie value is rising now. They have gained money (as have more recent escorts) in the past few years. I guess they are all getting pretty rare now as most of them rotted away.

Ive been using these elm327 dongles for years to diagnose car problems for my friends & family. I tend to use proscan, or vagcom for vw/audi/seat. Not had need to try it on the 350z yet.

As confused as a cow on astroturf
rabbitstew replied to p40ulw's topic in Introductions & Welcome Messages
Ive been considering these myself, but just cant get my head around the price of them. Last set I bought for another car cost me £25. And last set of alloys I bought only cost me £200! But like you say, they really push the wheels out and make the car look better. -
Christ, that brake caliper looks so small it looks like its come off my push bike! Those wheels must be huge!
-
Unless he`s running steel wheels on his zed, he either means rusty brake discs, or corroded scabby alloys....

Allow me to re-quote myself : http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=34166 Excellent.

+1 Ive got the japspeed K1 on my 313 and its seriously loud. Ideal for weekend fun, but not so good for daily commute. Im considering swapping it for a scorpion system as they are very good value and have good reviews. One thing with decats is that bare in mind you`ll have to put cats back on for the MOT now after the new regulations which came out recently. So maybe a HFC would be a better option.
-
Thats probably where your going wrong. If you tell them you park it on the road outside, you`ll probably get it cheaper - as mad as it sounds.
-
Sounds fun. Something for me to look forward to doing myself in a few weeks time.

I keep the receipts and note of the mileage ive serviced or changed items on the car and keep them all in a nice little folder. The last car I sold, the buyer was seriously impressed with all the history id kept as to what items I had serviced or changed over the years I had owned the car. I think in general, if the buyer can see you are an enthusiast who has lavished time and money treating his car correctly, it will be as good as having a FSH. Personally I dont trust garages as far as I can throw them having had many bad experiences in the past, so for me, id rather know an enthusiast has put proper oil in the car rather than some YTS lad who may have never seen a 350z before has had a go at it.

Hope you ate it for tea! Animals can cause a lot of damage to cars. I hit a badger once in a car - it ran out in front of me on a dual carraigeway. It broke the front bumper and smashed a light. Ive hit pigeons before on my motorbike and its like being hit in the chest with a cricket ball! One hit the radiator once and my god that took some serious cleaning afterwards... blood and feathers everywhere.

Has anyone changed plugs on an HR themselves? How easy it is? From what ive just read, apparently you have to remove the intake manifold in order to get to them?!!!
-
Alex has them. If you need any advice on fitting one, let me know as I fitted one on my HR last weekend. It really is a 10minute job. You just need a 1/2 drive breaker bar, a 10mm socket (or spanner) and an allen key (to lock the tensioner back). awesome! thanks for the offer, keep your eyes pealed for saturday thats when its being done! Theres a picture of how the belt goes around the pulleys in your owners manual - page 8-17 probably. Basically you need to undo the water overflow catch tank at the front of the engine bay - two 10mm bolts hold it on. Undo the 2 pipes which go into it and remove it from the car. Then you stick the 1/2 drive breaker bar (i just used my torque wrench as its pretty long) into the square hole on the tensioner, pull the auto tensioner off the belt and stick an allen key or somethin through the holes to lock it back. Then, the belt will come off easily. Stick new one one and put the tensioner back on the belt. Then refit the catch tank and thats it.

I think I'm right in saying that the Micra uses the same filter. You are... its part number 15208-9F600 and seems to fit loads of Nissans, incl Micra, Note, X Trail, etc... as well as the 350z! I too was well supprised when I saw it. The one on my missus`s Peugeot 307 is easily twice the size of it!!!
-
Not really, as long as you dont over tighten them. Its just a precauctionary measure really so you dont do them up too tight and ring the threads off in the head. Personally ive never used a torque wrench for doing plugs, but do use it for a lot of other stuff.
