Welcome!

I updated the sat nav in my 2007 350z without any problems at all earlier on in the year. The latest map released at the time was Dec 2011. Certainly had all the newist roads I knew about.

Potential new owner, a few questions...

Welcome!! A bit obvious, but id suggest trying a few out at a few garages and see what you think before you begin your search. They may not be your cup of tea. A lot of people are initially disappointed with the performance until they get used to it. Im not sure what some people expect, but for me, mine was as quick on the road as a lot of more expensive cars and certainly great fun to drive. £9k isnt a bad budget, id familiarise myself with the different models and power as there is quite a bit of difference between them. The last ones they did, the HR model has the most power and Nissan spent a lot of time and effort making a lot of improvements over the earlier models. Ive a spec list somewhere detailing all the changes they made and its a lot! Besides the engine which was 80% new, there were various handling improvements, such as mounting the engine lower to improve centre of gravity and suspension changes. They bought the HR out in mid 2007, and looking at current pricing, it may just be slightly over your budget, as they seem to be around £10k at the minimum, although you do see the odd one slightly cheaper. The GT4 one is also a highly sought after model. -
I cant listen to the video at work, but is it the fuel pump? On some of the cars ive had, when you turn ignition on, the fuel pump whurs until the fuel pressure is built up.

Yep no permission needed.

Im looking forward to this one too. Enjoyed the first one, but was worried that they may now ruin it for number 2 and 3. From the sounds of it on here they probably have, so i`ll wait until its out on DVD or blu ray before watching and save myself a few quid.

Thats a bit of luck then!!!

My missus got 36 in a 30 a few years back and was offered speed awareness. I on the other hand got flashed by a van doing 72 in a 60 in the middle of nowhere and get 5 points and fine, apparently the police didn't feel my offence warranted the speed awareness course. Definitely take the course if they offer it, when I checked a few weeks back, 3 points would load my premium by 10%->15% if i remember rightly.

Welcome. My other half is from Cov so we used to spend a lot of time there.

I miss this about owning a zed. I used to often come out of shops and find complete strangers looking around my car drooling. Random people used to tell me "nice car", and any kids who play Gran Turismo used to shout out "nice car mate" when they saw it. I think the "what is it?" comments seem to come from the fact they are very rare and look a lot more expensive than they are!

Sounds like an interesting spec then! White leather wasnt a UK option, it was black, frost grey or if you paid £650 extra on top of the GT pack you could get the Alezan Orange seats. In fact ive never seen a zed with white leather, so I wonder, even though its an import, whether someone has retrimmed it? Sat Nav was optional in the UK (£1400 on top of retail), Bose / Cruise / Electric leather seats were in the GT pack (think that was £3500 over "normal" retail price). The bluetooth was not fitted in roadsters - guess they figured people wouldnt hear what you were saying if you had the roof down. Although they did fit bluetooth in 370z roadsters. The heated seat buttons are normally between the handbrake & gear stick on HR`s. Maybe they didnt have these for imports?
-
Nope. This has been discussed on here loads in the past. The roadster roof button is actually down near the drivers right hand knee - near the filler cap release. The blank button next to the heated seats isnt used for anything. My UK Zed was fully loaded and I still had a blank button there. On some JDM cars apparently this button is where "snow mode" button is.

Bit of a result there then. Sounds like someone at DVLA have cocked up. My 2007 HR was something like 460quid for a year, although I used to do it 6 months at a time, so it ended up costing me well over £500 a year!!!
-
Welcome! I found the same. When I was using my zed for my daily 90mile commute I ended up finding it a bit boring - esp when stuck in traffic. But, when I managed to take it for a long weekend drive out... wow.. completely different car and it gave you chance to really appreciate it.

Welcome!!!

Welcome, some nice cars on here for sale, so have a look around!

You say this after saying you want a Merc?! I have 3 friends who own them, 2 C Class, 1 E Class. All have spent extensive time in the dealers getting recurring electrical issues sorted (or not sorted in one case). +1 one of my mates has an slk & a c class and both have had no end of problems. I was actually considering a C220 or C250 CDI before I bought my 123d but all the owner reviews I read did not make for good reading. My family have had quite a few VAG cars and not had any major problems at all. My last was a Golf GT TDI which I bought at 80,000 miles and sold with 169,000 on the clock. Still ran like new and was returning 60mpg average all the time, with a personal best of 76mpg on a 40mile door-to-door trip.

Actually most dealers seem to offer that 7 day free insurance now. Its quite handy as it lets you get the road tax sorted out and get the car home etc... Even gives you a few days to try and sell your own car if needbe. Think it was Norwich Union the last time I had that and my god they tried the mega hard sell to try and get me to switch my main insurance over to them - which is what they are hoping you will do.

Try looking at 07 onwards. The 313 HR came out mid 2007, so they started on an 07 plate. Look at the pictures of the cars, if it has a bonnet bulge then the chances are its the 313HR. I looked on Autotrader last week and nationally there were several cars for £9500->£11,000. All with low mileage, at dealers and with warranty. If you can find one privately then you may well be looking at a bit less. Alternatively id seriously look at Jamies car. I doubt if you can find one as good as that for that money - unless a roadster isnt your cup of tea.

Hasnt your GF got a car? How it works with me & my mates is that the guy has a nice flashy 2 door motor and the missus has the "sensible" 4 door family car for taking the kids or babys out in. Problem solved!
-
I agree, for that sort of money you`d be looking at a nice HR model. 2 owners and 20k isnt unusual as others have said. Mine was a 2007 I bought last year with just 21k on the clock. First owner was Nissan as it was a publicity car for the first year, then sold to a guy who used it as a weekend car. Mine had FSH but because of the low mileage it was done on year rather than miles. Then when I bought the car and proceeded to do 25k a year using it as a daily commuting car, the servicing then worked out to be done on miles rather than year. Another thing to check is, have the spark plugs been changed? Thats recommended at the 5 year mark and isnt always cheap. Id also look at the overall costs of ownership on one of these. I was in the fortunate position of paying cash for mine, so didnt have any finance on it. But even so, running costs (tax, insurance, mot, tyres, servicing etc. etc.) were £250 a month, depreciation was £450 a month and on top of that you have the cost of fuel @ around 25mpg.
