Welcome!

+1 to this. When I got my beemer, the seats had so many adjustments I just couldnt get them feeling "right". Every time i got in the car id adjust it and my back would still ache. After speaking to someone else, they suggested a more upright position, like Ekona mentions, and its helped no end. No more back ache.

Modifications that can be done on a budget?
rabbitstew replied to oasisniall's topic in 350Z Modifications
Are you talking of visual mods or performance mods. If you have the 313 model then you`ll be lucky to get any extra power at all from any of the basic "normal" performance mods people do. - such as air filter, exhaust etc. In fact a "performance" cosworth air filter for example, will give you no extra power over a stock Nissan one. Mainly because Nissan highly developed the engine when they developed the car. A different exhaust will change the exhaust note and make the car sound sporty, but not really add any bhp to it. On an older 276bhp car, you can go for a different pendulum, airbox/filter, exhaust, and then a remap and get a few bhp out of it. Visual mods... well, the list is endless really, depending on what you want to achieve? Mad & lairy? OEM? Drift car? you name it. Nismo bodykits, wheels, wheel spacers, bumper tuck, ipod mod, built in satnav tablet, different seats, stubby areal, euro wipers... white reflectors.. etc. etc. -
+1.... My 123d comes with run flats as standard and the whole chasis / suspension as been designed to work best with them.

Not really, as someone could search, read the facts, then if they have any questions post their questions on the original thread. Like we always get people asking what the differences are between the 313 and the older zeds, or what mods should I do to my 276bhp zed... or what insurance people are paying.... or should i get a personal plate.... Sometimes I think im constantly in a deja vu situation... i see a thread and think "i answered that question the other week" - then I open up the thread and cant find my reply.. so i realise its a new thread with someone asking an identical question. So then I think "okay, i`ll just search for the old thread and I can copy / paste my original reply on this one"... then search and sometimes cant even find my old thread as theres so many similar threads... so i just give up and dont bother replying to the OP. I see enough new threads & queries on new subjects on here every day, so I doubt the place would suddenly dry up and die. Maybe the answer to this is to have more stickies? Like one saying "read here for 10 ten questions". But, then again I guess people would actually have to read it, and if they cant be bothered they will still just post the same old question.....

Well I bought my zed for commuting to work & back in. Had 20k on it for a car which was 4 years old and I immediately did 22k in the first 12 months of owning it. It would have been a lot more but the "fun" of forking out nearly £500 a month on super unleaded just to sit poodling along in rush hour traffic soon lost its novelty and I got an old diesel shed to use a few days a week to try and save money. My commute is 2 miles of town, then 35miles of 50->70mpg crusing, then 2 miles of town. Even driving like a nun gave me an average of 26mpg. I used my car all year round. Like others, dont see the point in taking a car off the road for 5 months just cos its a bit cold outside. Esp when you think of the monthly costs of owning a zed. You know what you are buying when you get a zed, so you may as well use it.

Load of threads about this already on here so its worth having a search. If its just your initials on a plate then most people dont even realise its a "private plate". So if you have like C5 AHD people just assume its a C reg car. If you have a plate which reads something funny or interesting without spending hours mis shaping letters, adding "full stops" or bits of tape and very dodgy spacing then I think its good and worth having. However, the "better" looking the plate the more expensive it is. Ive a few private plates ranging from £250 up to over a grand. Havent got one on my car atm as its a 61 plate car, so I dont feel the need to try and "hide" its age. Personally unless you have money to burn i think you`d be better off spending the cash on performance mods. Using your logic there, that would have been an epic fail for me as ive absolutely no idea what N17 FTW means. In fact I wouldnt even realise it was a "private plate". I would have probably have puzzled over it a little as thats a 1996 (ish) number plate which is older than a zed, so I would have scratched my brain for a bit then given up on it and maybe just assumed it was your initials.

Good luck! Try not to be too disheartened if they drop in value!

Another biker here. Currently got a 94 ZXR750L2 ive had since about 1997, a VFR750 and a 1999 R1 ive had since 2001. The R1 is a tuned up road bike - been rejeted, modified air box, full titanium akropovic system on it, race bodywork, no headlamps and no indicators etc... replaced the engine myself the other year after blowing the gearbox up through too many wheelies. Heres an old pic of me on the ZXR... I used to be able to lean it over so far, that the side of the race exhaust can ground through completely and the bottom front lower fairing started to go too. Was a good indicator though as to how far over it was on the tyres.... Once the fairing started to scrape i knew it was on the edge. Unfortunately I dont get out much on the bikes any more - been too busy with work & house DIY. However, last year the insurance on my R1 was the grand some of just £60.

Good luck with your hunt for a 350z - its certainly an exciting thing to do. I fondly remember when I was looking for mine. I initially was looking at BMW M3`s until I saw a 350z Roadster sitting in the corner of a garage. I immediately changed my mind about the M3 and started looking at 350z`s! I made my choice harder by deciding I definitely wanted the 313 model and I also wanted a roadster. One look on autotrader came up with just 3 cars within about 80miles or so of my house! One was already sold, one was dark blue in colour and reminded me too much of a grandads fabia in that colour, fortunately the last one was in grey and had every option in the book ticked on it. I drove the 80mile trip to Birmingham the next day and bought it there & then. The only problem I had was that the dealer knew exactly how rare the 313 Roadsters were (something like 250 of them in the UK) and would not budge a penny on the screen price - no matter how much haggling & walking away I did. So, I bought it there & then for cash and picked it up 5 days later! I then had the immense hassle of trying to insure the thing. I had mistakenly assumed that with 20 years NCB, clean license and lots of experience of high powered cars & motorbikes it wouldnt be too expensive to insure.... cue quotes of nearly £1200 and some companies refusing to touch me on it. Amazing!!! Still it was worth it! -
Should send him an email saying you will offer £6000 for the car, no offers, but you need his help getting the money out of your Nigerian uncles bank account.

I hoped this thread expecting there to be some happy rabbits in it and sadly there wasnt. Nice tints tho! Im considering doing the same to my 123d coupe as the missus`s Juke came with them already and they do look good on a black car.

Going to look at a Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag tomorrow

ahahahaha!!!! -
What he said. The 3litre BMW diesels in particular go on forever and you can get an older one well within your budget.
-
I prefer the grey one, that black one is just too shiney and the angle is set so low you mis out on the cool head pods behind the seats which the roadster has. I have to say i love the looks of the roadster - hence i bought one. The way its been styled kind of makes you think it was always intended to be a roadster. BUT.... have to say it did look like it had a big bum from the back!!!
-
Hmmm... maybe ask him if hes got any pix of his missus?
-
Welcome!! The zed is very easy to service yourself to keep costs down and there are several traders on here who can supply you with all the bits.

I just had 3 of these land in my inbox this morning! -
Check whether the spark plugs are actually needed before you order them - the 350z has a mad long interval between needing to change them.
-
I guess you cant really check to see what difference it makes to your insurance without letting them know you have had an accident, but id certainly avoid making a claim if you can, unless the difference in amount you will get for your car is significantly different. My missus had an accident in her sports car a few years back and whilst they repaired it, the increase in insurance afterwards meant she could no longer afford to insure it and had to sell it and get a cheap diesel car instead. I think in her case because her ncb was not protected she lost 2 years worth, leaving her with only 2 years NCB. Something like that anyway!
-
Be interesting to see what difference you find between the 300 and the 370z. When I had a 370z for 3 days last year, I found no difference in performance between that and my 313. In fact my 313 felt quicker & more responsive.
-
Looks proper dodgy to me, that should be 7 or 8k. Sure, its the higher tax bracket with the non 313 engine which would put some people off, but even so, it shouldnt be that cheap. Even if its been cat d id have expect it to be a lot more than that surely? DVLA are saying its tax`d until April 2013 too, so the guys just put 6 months tax on it. But, in the add, its a classified add, he`s not put any contact details and has zero feedback, not even a phone number. Only thing you can do is "ask a question"
