Ring the boss of Sky up. Explain all the circumstances to him and he should sort it seeing as he is a Zed owner. I am sure he will drop the price down as it's not good for buisness to get bad press in on the forum. Thenoname

Thanks for all your help guys. I am sure you will find the answer for him. Bet it's something really silly! Thenoname

I received a plee for help from a new member today who's user id is S7GREEN. He cannot post under the 5 post rule but as he needs our help and is off to join our glorious Marines l feel it appropriate that l put the post up for him. After all we would not want red tape stopping a future squaddie from arriving at training in a Zed would we. This is the post. I have a 2005 350z, it ran out of fuel on my drive and due to no cash for fuel I disconnected the negative only as stated in the mnual so battery would not die, today when I reconnected the negative a (small) spark occured. I put 12 litres of fuel in from jerry cans. When I tried to start the car I can hear the fuel pump whirring like normal when ignition is on, it now turns over faster than usual but will not start the car. A year ago I didnt start it for afew months and sparked the battery when jump starting the car, nissan garage changed the main fuse block, from then on the fuel gauge reads zero along with the trip computer even when it has fuel and was running and starting fine for the past year. I read on the internet I could knock the bottom of the fuel tank with a rubber hammer and this may make the fuel pump work if it is the pump which is the problem, do you think this would work? Or add more than 12 litres of fuel? Also read it may need a proper jump start with higher power (which I will have RAC do this time) Do you think a proper jump start could work it? Battery reads 12v on display as usual. Because I disconnected the battery the bose stereo reads "code in", I cannot put this in as the buttons on the stereo have stopped working, before I didnt start the car the stereo would play CDs as it was on CD setting when the buttons stopped (unknown cause), and I could operate the stereo from the steering wheel controls, and eject CDs from the button on the bose unit along with the main power button (depresing volume nob). Would the code in stop the car from firing? Any advice would be appreciated as I am having a minor break down over it as Im still skint due to losing job. Its one thing after another with motors. Any advice would be very appreciated. S7GREEN

Allways check the compulsary access cover. Some comparison sites tend to be higher than others. I found that Go-Compare insurers seemed to have a lower access rate that confused.com/ Are you all confused?

I blame the PC. it writes what it wants! The warning is do not use a can of glue unless it's sighted in, and were a mask:) Until you take the old covering off, you dont realise just how naff it is! Thenoname

The only glue I had was spray contact adhesive. Umm it certainly does spray lol. table. kitchen floor and curtain got hit with flying tacky flem like goo!! And colourful language, but not a hard job. if i had the patience to get the center consul out I would cover it myself in black sued like the Audi R8. and the dash. Thenoname

When did 350z performance become the "norm"?

Very much like the marmite advert then! You love it or you hate it:) Must admit the OEM suspension I find hard, but that could be me as l have a knackered back. Thenoname -
When did 350z performance become the "norm"?
4RE Leather replied to mmaci12969's topic in 350Z General
Ah the old zed tinted glasses RXS your not the only one who wasn't blown away by the zed, i was really excited when i was getting mine, but personally i found it a disappointment. not that it wasn't a good car as it is. but not as good as i thought it was going to be. I totally agree with the above. Its not that i dislike the car. Its just not the performance animal i had heard about and for that reason i have been disapointed with it and invariably will leave the keys on the sideboard and probably drive my vectra instead because that doesn't try to be something its not. And in response to some of the above comments, i wasn't comparing the Lotus Evora S to the Z in any way other than by making the point that some cars feel quick just standing still and when on the move they make the best use of their power. After all, the Evora S is in the supercar bracket in some respects which the Z wasn't ever meant to be. It is a good job we are not all the same i totally agree with that. I also respect other peoples opinions and thats all they are at the end of the day, Opinions. Might l enquire to which article you read that says the Zed is a performance animal and tries to be something it is not? It's just that I have never read anything that says it is? Apart from Vicky Butler Hendison wetting her knickers over a Azure blue one some 6 years ago I have not personnaly heard any boasts? -

In fairness if you rev most cars up to the redline they are going to feel either quick or about to self destruct. I guess i was expecting the Z to feel quick (relatively speaking) without having to risk blowing the pistons through the bonnet. Just recently i had a Supercharged Lotus Evora for a week as a courtesy car from the Lotus dealer i bought the Z from. I appreciate that the Evora has about 70bhp over the Z but it would have run rings around the Z even at relatively minor revs. When driven anywhere near the redline it was phenominal. Totally unpractical and i wouldn't buy one but phenominal all the same. 70bhp on a lightweight sports car though! The Zed is meant to be a GT car, not a fizzying popping doughnut car park car. If you are after breakneck straight line speed then buy an Evo. If you want something that munches miles, turns heads, has power all the way through the range then the Zed is fine. Could not have put it better myself:) -

ok bare with me on this one... I just px'd my zed after 2 yrs of ownership for a Saab 9-3 Areo 2.8 v6 Turbo rag top (just one car Ive always liked to try) and tbh quite honest im gutted. I really miss the torque of the zed coz thats what gives you (me) the ultimate buzz. The Saab has enough ummffh to keep up with my old zed, but its the power delivery i miss...ive now had this saab for appox 2 weeks and already looking to get rid of it. Im now looking to get myself Merc slk350 or 55 AMG to try something differant........maybe I just get bored of cars easily lol." ( approx 24 cars in 24 yrs of driving) So I guess the moral of the story is.........you never really get bored of the zeds power ... Could i suggest that you take a look at the 350SLK bhp and 0-60 ect on autotrader and then at least get a decent feel b4 you get one? Scunk works is much more fun:) Thenoname -

Ah yes, you've made yourself a bit clearer, I think I know what you mean. Once you've driven something which is more driver focused and designed, like the Zed, it does change your perspective a bit. When I had to take my car in to have some body repairs done just over a year ago I had a year old Ford Fiesta as a courtesy car. I was glad to have it as I could still work, see clients, potter about etc. However; although I scooted around in it and it was ok. It was..... on reflection.......utterly 5h1t as a car in providing feedback, balance or a sense of being 'in touch' with the road. I think that's what you mean, a Mondeo / Vectra / Laguna etc, etc feels like a nice car until you drive a BMW, Porsche, MX-5, Impreza, Evo, Zed etc and then you realise you've been driving a jelly with a shrimp for a steering wheel, four wine gums as wheels and a panda pop as an engine. I have never had a sweetie as a courtesy car b4! -

Try the M25 at 3am. You might only have to stop the once to plop a £1 coin in the QE bridge toll. Then again they might filter down to one lane and divert you due to overnight sufacing, so you may be stuck in traffic. Hopefully if you are you might post and tell us about your experience! Then we can have a laugh:) -

If i am not careful the rear kicks out to the right when giving to much welly in 2nd. 3 times over the last few days. doesn't help the right rear tyre is 100 miles new? It states in the review that the characteristics are OEM but with more power, so to answer your question, yes it will still break away. Thenoname -

I thought it was a bit jerky at 1st, as though it was on a leash. Someone I knew mentioned rocket man and Abbey Motorsport so I dropped them an email. 3 weeks later l had a Milltek cat back exhaust, decats, and an uprev. The difference was unbelievable in so much that the car was smooth and you could really feel the power difference. Another 6 weeks and it was back to Abbey for a GTM Supercharger. I don't look to achieve more power now, because I know that what I have under the hood will always be exciting. Would I do it all again? You bet I would. thenoname -

A couple of guys have mentioned Sam dragging his heels but I kept out of the politics. Time was the one thing I had on my side. I do know that if l were in a position in the future to get a 370, I would ask Abbey to put this one back as it was and transfer the S/C over. I would never race the car so l don't really need to up the anti. Plus any money thrown at her is dead as the build is more expensive than what l will get for the car if l sold it. Although I am sure Abbey could get more BHP out of my car if they wanted. race headers, lighter pulleys and all that kind of stuff. The car only has 14,000 miles on the clock so plenty of life in her yet. It is true what someone else said on this Forum. Once you start spending it often becomes an obsession. Thenoname -
Well I'm stuffed then. I went from OEM to 275/35/18 Rear 245/35/18 front And 20mm spacers all round. She does sit nice though:)

It was exposed as a load of Cod on both Top gear and 5th over the years. It's a shame that we can't have a bot that picks out terms and words, and kills them dead B4 some poor sucker goes and wastes their money on these nasty scams. plus I don't have to cast my eyes on it lol:)
