G Man, are you going for a re-map anytime soon?
-
Some photo's as promised. OEM exhaust below: Cheers, Scotty

I would just like to say a big thank-you to Andy at CS for sorting out a slight issue I had with my new Akrapovic exhaust for my 370Z. I had a slight knocking noise when going over a speed bump which turned out to be the exhaust hitting the cross member. One phone call to Andy and it was staight up on the ramps and exhaust adjusted - problem gone. Really good customer service. Thanks Andy. All the best Scotty.

I would definatley spend the extra £400-£450 and get the Berks. You've spent alot of money on a quality exhaust and it has not ticked all the boxes for you. I would spend that bit more to gian the sound and throttle response that we all know the 370 needs.

Spot on with the syncro rev. It's now a joy to use and listen to. MPG is bound to go down as it's such a pleasure to rev the engine. Also forgot to mention the weight saving with the new Akro exhaust and Berk cats as well as the rear wiper delete I've done. I reckon that lots worth around 10-12 kg less.

Points 1-5, couldn't have put it better myself The neighbours will just be impressed, I love the sound on start up, soon settles down though, until you want it again Sometimes it's hard to put across how much better a car with a certain mod performs, I'm glad you've found the same as myself When I'm next going down sarf, I'll give you a shout and we can convoy to Abbey, get the re-maps done As you're a bit closer, I guess you might beat me to it Do you now have a mad grin on every run? The grin is not too different to when my wife hired me a Ferrari F430 for 24hrs as a 40th birthday gift .

Are you getting or have you already a cat-back exhaust?
-
I guess it's a respect thing.

Akrapovic Evolution Exhaust System + Berk High Flow Cats now fitted. All I can say is that all those doubts have been laid to rest and that I'm soooooooooooooo pleased by the results! I will post some pics once I've washed the car but first impressions are: 1. Throttle response vastly improved. 2. I now have a car with improved performance - the car not only feels quicker I'm sure it is quicker. 3. I no longer need music as the sound of this combo is just stunning. 4. Carbon Fiber Tips and in fact the whole exhaust are just superb quality and so much better to look at. 5. The harsh engine vibration at high revs appears to have gone. Many thanks to Andy at CS and for that matter The G-Man for persuading me to have the cats fitted at the same time as the exhaust - it was the right decision. I was going to have just the exhaust fitted and then get the cats fitted later depending on how loud the exhaust on it's own would be(thinking of the neighbours). I will say on cold start up my neighbours will hear this exhaust as the note is very deep especially as it's started in the garage. I think keeping below 3000rpm will be key in not upsetting the neighbours when driving down my street! Once again thanks to Andy at CS for fitting the combo - done with attention to detail and basically he just got on with it. I felt reassured that he would fit the system as though it was going on his own car. I feel all those hours of overtime at work to pay for this system have been worth it. One question I've got is that should I get this set-up re-mapped. If so would it be OK to leave it a while or is there a chance that if left unmapped that any damage could be done with it running lean or rich? Cheers, Scotty

Thanks for all the advice guys. I've been in touch with CS as per the recommendations from this thread. Very helpful and reassuring which is what you want when putting £2300 worth of exhaust and HFC's on the pride and joy!

Anyone noticed that when the engine is idling that there is a 'rough' noise that goes away when the clutch is depressed. I seem to remember from years ago on another car that it was the thrust bearing that made that noise. The car has only done 1500 miles so will take it in to the stealer if others on here do not have that noise. Cheers, Scotty

Saving a few quid by doing it myself was not the issue. I want to do it myself because then I know for sure it's been fitted correctly. I'm pretty good at mechanicals but in this case really need a car lift to do a proper job. Think I'll try to find a garage that is willing to let me use their car lift for a few quid. Failing that I'm in South Leicestershire just off junction 20 of the M1 if anyone can recommend a garage that I can check out. Cheers, Scotty

Akrapovic full cat back exhaust is on it's way and I would really like to fit it myself (pretty confident with bolt on stuff and don't know any mechanics I can trust). Question is can this be done with trolley jack and axle stands or is going to a garage and using a car lift the only way to do it? Any advice is much appreciated. Cheers, Scotty
-
I do love an exclusive car and TBF you don't see many 370's around ! One thing I never really factored into when deciding on a 370 was exclusivity - just loving the fact that here in Leicestershire at least I just do not see other 370's. Also the 370 has the ability to turn heads as it is a gorgous rare car.
-
Well, there are no takers as of now and must admit after hearing your experiance of the combo I'm not too bothered if they don't sell. Looks like I'll have to put some more overtime in to pay for it all!
-
Thanks for your advice and info G Man - much appreciated.
-
GMAN, did you fit the exhaust yourself? I'm tempted to give it ago if it's possible with trolley jacks/axle stands. I'm not too bad with bolt-on stuff etc. Other than that I will really have to try hard to find an exhaust fitter/mechanic I can trust.
-
So does the Akrapovic have secondary cats? Mark from Abbey told me that fitting any aftermarket cat back exhaust removed the secondary cats. I wasn't aware that the 370 had secondary cats and if so where are they on the OEM exhaust?
-
If I can't sell them then they will go on the car. Can't make Lake Z but I will attend a meet soon - I'll take my seven year old son, he'll love it - being a petrol head already! Did you have the car re-mapped after the exhaust and hfc's were fitted? Cheers, Scotty
-
If I can't sell them Chris then they will go on the car. I think I just got sick of looking for the 'perfect exhaust' and just went for it with the Akrapovic and then had a tinge of buyers remorse with spending £2K and am now trying to claw some back with selling the Berks.
-
I'm tempted to keep the HFC's but you are spot on with needing to offset the cost of the Akrapovic. I guess if I can't sell them I'll bite the bullet and get them fitted even though I suppose that would mean spending another £400 on getting a re-map! So by selling the HFC's and not having a re-map I would be around £800 better off.

After weeks of agonising about which exhaust to go for have decided not to go for the Berk HFC and exhaust combo (thinking of the neighbours) or the Tanabe (as the 'y' pipe was on back order for months) but have bought the Akrapovic full cat back system. I have not yet decided which tips to have as I have a Twilight Grey 370 and think both the Carbon Fibre and Titanium ones would look good. Anyway that leaves me a brand new boxed set of Berk HFC's for sale - please see my ad in the for sale section. Once the Akro's fittted I'll take some photo's. Also looking forward to NOT reading countless reviews and opinions about exhausts - but I guess when spending up to a couple of grand you need to do some research and believe me I have! Cheers, Scotty

After weeks of pondering about which exhaust to get I have decided to splash out on an Akrapovic system for my 370Z. I did intend to go for a Berk HFC and exhaust combo but have decided to stick with stock cats and Akrapovic exhaust. I bought these pair of Berk HFC's on Tarmac's last group buy a couple of weeks ago and as you can see they are still in their plasic wrappers brand spanking new and unused. These HFC's will fit either an '07 and up 350Z or any 370Z. Price is £400 buyer to pick up (10 mins junction 20 M1 - South Leicestershire) or £415 delivered. Any questions then please ask. Cheers, Scotty

HFC's on the way from Tarmac for my 370Z . Has anyone any recommendations as to where I can get these fitted in the Midlands. Cheers, Scotty

It's going to be a Tanabe Medalion Touring including 'Y' pipe. Having read many, many articles, reviews ect. have come to the conclusion that this system offers me a good combination of a deep sound, discreet looks, excellent build quality and some extra ponies for a middle of the road price. Many thanks to Realneal for all the info about his experiance of the Tanabe on his 370Z. Going to be getting it through Tarmac when the 'Y' pipe is back in stock which will hopefully be early June. Having spoke to Tarmac today found it quite reassuring that he is going to get one for his vehicle (not sure whether he's got a 350 or 370). One last thing - What do people do with the OEM exhaust once removed? Has anyone tried selling one on EBAY or is it worth next to nothing? I would prefer to try and get some cash for it rather than it gather dust in the garage. Cheers, Scotty.
