  1. djrm said I don't think it's "if" so much as "how" the car has been repaired. As Toby said, unless the car is significantly cheaper it probably isn't worth it. There was a thread on here a while ago by a chap who repaired a yellow gt. While the end result looked o.k it was never the less a car with a great deal of body filler in it. Given the choice between one with substantial repairs and body filler and a nice straight version, I know which i would go for. Even more so given the choice of nice straight ones now available at affordable prices as others have said.
  2. brillomaster said "theres a lot of very nice parts on there which could probably raise over a grand " Surely the wheels alone are worth that even allowing for some cheap 18" original replacements

  5. Buying a shed is always a bit hit and miss. You either end up with a great bargain that you just run into the ground or a money pit you regret ever having bought!! From memory the 1.9 peugeot diesel engine is a good one with only potential problems being over heating or the head gasket, so if you are thinking of buying it make sure you get it up to temp and check fan kicks in etc. I'm sure others on here will give you better advice on what to check for.
  6. Hi, I recently bought a Japspeed back box and middle section from a guy for £100 because the rattling tail pipe was driving him mad! It's like new. The issue seems to be the insert in the tail pipe that is tacked by weld on the bit furthest in and relies on the rolled flange on the outer end to hold it in place. It was this rolled flange on mine that was causing the inner part to rattle, Three discreet tacks of stainless weld between the outer and inner parts and a polish and it's fine. Did both just to be sure. N.B. Any welding needs to be stainless, ideally TIG otherwise you will get rusting on the weld. Hope this helps and you get it sorted.

  17. Did any one else see a tv program recently about the rise in counterfeit brake discs and pads? It showed what were supposed to be genuine VW pads that were counterfeit and almost doubled the braking distance and some that failed completely under heavy use. Is it worth the risk ?
  18. Hi, Mitre Fix is fine for gluing MDF to MDF but if you want to bond MDF to Metal you need something like Sikaflex or a PU mastic adhesive. This will bond it and resist failure due to vibration. Try Tool Station or Screw Fix. We use this stuff at work so am talking from experience regarding how to bond it but you will need an i.c.e. expert to advice you as to whether you need to. Hope this helps a little.
  19. Absolutely agree with Chris and DoogyRev. I am sure that a mutually agreable solution is possible and if i am correct from what I have read on your OP you would be happy to contribute to this.
