  1. I did the iPod hack and never needed a code even with the radio out of the car for over 3 hours.
  2. Lucky... We've had rain non-stop all day .
  3. I feel for you. I did the same sort of thing in my old car. Reversed into the driveway brick pillar when moving my car to make space for someone else after being at work for 16 hours and I was fuming mad at myself . Get a quote from a reputable bodyshop. Perhaps consider getting reversing sensors, they were already in mine when I bought it and to be honest, they are great, perfect for when reversing at night.
  4. Here's holding out for perfect weather! I'll be bringing along my camera with a fisheye lens so I can get a few good shots on the day, by no means a great photographer but I'm a gadget freak .
  5. Done, but the phrase pissing in the wind comes to mind...
  6. Done, but the phrase "pissing in the wind" comes to mind...
  7. For those who are worried about the difficulty of fitting this, don't be. It was easy, (100% easier & quicker than the iPod radio mod). The only thing that confused me was that on my model car the wires were a different colour than the ones in the guide. Simply use the guide and it is easy to find what the different wire is. I made a quick call to confirm this and Cook was good as gold. It took me less than an hour and a half to get it all done. Make sure you glue the switch on well and in a position that allows the "hammer" for the door lock to make a good firm contact. Again, the guide shows this perfectly. In all honesty, the hardest part is getting the door trim back together . So mark up one more for a successful mod . If I can do it, anyone can .
  8. I have a metal Z one I got from eBay. Does the job well.
  9. Most modern mobile/hand-held speed cameras can't be jammed now anyway.
  10. How many are we expecting from other z forums? We might have to park on each others bonnets .
  11. The only reason I went to look at it was because I wanted midnight blue and no other colour. At the time it was the only midnight blue car for sale within 40 miles of London. Hence why I went to Northampton to get mine .
  12. Nice looking car right there. Now, where did you get that bag for your cleaning kit?
  13. Spot on. I didn't notice until I took the trim cover off again and saw what you said. Mod all done, works great. I routed it into the bluetooth cubby to keep the wires hidden .
  14. good buy. What year is it? I've never seen a chilli 350z before.
  15. What do you mean cut the tracks? I'm not much for electrical stuff, mechanical work doesn't usually phase me but this isn't my forte. I followed this viewtopic.php?f=9&t=29312&hilit=alexz&start=75 start to finish. It may be possible solder is has managed to get into places but I took my time and made sure it was clean. I won't be able to rip it out now until Monday as I am at work on Saturday and at Twickenham Sunday. Thanks for the reply.
  16. I spent a few hours today sorting out my iPod stereo mod. All went pretty well, took a bit longer to get it out but got there in the end. I soldered up the wires no issues there. SO I put the stereo back in the car, wired it up and reconnected the battery. Now this is where the issue lies... Turn the ignition on, radio starts up. Lost all my radio settings but I knew that would happen. The issue I have is that none of the buttons on the stereo now work except the volume knob. The stereo controls on the steering wheel don't work except the volume again... I can't choose CD, tape or radio. I can't tune the radio at all (but it was working as it played some god awful gangster rap station). The iPod mod is working though, but at the loss of everything else. I'm sure I reconnected all the wires in the stereo but it was getting dark by then so I was working in dim light. Any ideas what may have happened here?
  17. Your cable may have 2 ground wires that you need to join and solder to GND. Brilliant just what I needed to know. Thanks.
  18. There is a stunning car for sale in Manchester, so much so I was prepared to go get it myself before I found one a little closer to home. Just checked and it looks like it has gone. Here's one in Bradford if it is within your travelling distance... 57 plate GT, 27,000 miles under £15000. If it all checks out it could be a good deal, it does have a rather ugly spoiler though IMO. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ?logcode=p
  19. You are pretty local to me by the sounds of it if you are in Rickmansworth, I'm about 15 minutes south into Hillingdon. I don't mean to sway you, I think the local WLMG in in High Wycombe. I went to look at the 350z they had there. It was stunning, but not only was it very over priced, but they were so rude to me I couldn't believe it. They pretty much laughed at me when I said I was interested in the zed (they probably saw a scruffy 20 something guy walk in). By the time they added a warranty, GAP insurance and other bits it was over £19k (and that's before finance fees). It was only when I said how much hard cash I had to put on a car they came around and talked to me. I never like to be critical of companies, but I was pretty pee'd off when I left. When I bought my 313 from a guy who sold zeds for over 6 years years and owned one from the day they were released in the UK (knew a lot about the cars indeed), I told him about the car I went to see and he laughed and said give it 6 months and it will be £1800 lower . There was a recent thread asking if it is worth getting the newer model, I'm on my iPhone at the moment so can't look it up but it's around. Oh yea,
  20. At first I didn't like them but after looking again, I do . Are they metallic grey or is it the light? They look smart and if they are grey, the understated look is better than them being flashy. I don't think I would ever get rid of the Rays, but if I did I would look definitely consider something similar.
  21. +1 on the microfibres, I have about 7 of them at the moment and each one does something different. I got some Dodo Juice Red Mist. I heard a lot of good stuff about it and thought what the heck and got a 250ml bottle. I have only used it once after a quick wax (with cheapo wax, before getting DJ Blue Velvet) and the difference was great. Gave it that still wet look. I was in the same boat as you only a few weeks ago. I sold a lot of these products for over a year and never really batted an eyelid. I now have a pretty good collection of stuff which I will add to as and when I feel I need to.
  22. Some nice cars right there. Keep us posted .
  23. That crack is bad. Could a professional repairer fix it? http://www.premierwheelrepairs.com/ maybe worth an ask?
  24. Are you able to get a refund on the tax (ie 8-9 months worth)? Maybe say £8750 and take the refund on it.
  25. People will want to race you in a zed but you don't feel compelled to do so like you would in a car which is more race-car looking (in my opinion anyway). What sort of budget do you have and do you have any specific model you are after or specific colour? There is a good market these cars at the moment and you can afford to be really picky. I wanted a specific colour and there were a few of them around at the time. Black and gun metal seem to be the most common when looking. Check out a few cars on this forum for sale may be what you are after.
