What makes a good racing driver?
CrumbMC replied to The Bounty Bar Kid's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Also it helps to have no track experience, or experience in a RWD car for that matter, and drive a Polo with its wheels rubbing on the arches (dropped on £100 ebay coilovers) and about 45% of camber. At least that's what the self proclaimed "awesome driver" i was talking to the other night thinks. -
Yeah i was holding off in the hope of starting a bidding war. Got to be optimistic
-
I'm interested! After a Berk HFC for my 05 350. Let me know if you get enough interest. +1 quick before i fit my decats!!!

My car ate something the other week and damaged the passenger side inner arch liner and undertray. Unfortunately the bolts holding on they undertray had seized into a ball of rust and I made a bit of a mess of the fixing points on the drivers side one as well. I could do with: undertray (front) both front inner arch liners (the front parts) Near side (passenger) radiator guard. Need all to be in good nick and with if you have the screws / fittings that would be handy. if you have them can you give me a price here or in a PM please including delivery to south Cumbria. if anyone nearby has them i can collect. Cheap as possible as I just spent a load on the car and still want some coilovers in the not too distant future. feel free to have a bidding war with each other Edited for spelling

Well last year i went to spa to watch ( ) and Toyota, despite promising to run there for the first time, turned up with a body shell on a show stand and i was forced to watch an Audi 1,2,3,4 So even if they say they are taking the new car, I wouldn't believe them . Really they should have got their act together this year after they dominated the latter end of the 2012 season. Yeah, with the Aston's anniversary it was a propper aston fest. Still it meant i could check out the V12 Vantages beasty ceramics up front... Man, i'm a Saddo Also they have the coolest driver.

looks awesome. How much for a set of those smoothed CS skirts delivered?
-
Yeah. my thoughts exactly. I have an (ir)rational hared of Audis, (especially S-line front wheel drive diesel A5s) so i was gutted when i found out toyota were bringing the 2012 car. It was good to see McNish chasing the win at the end even though he does drive for scum. I seem to have also developed a hatred for Kobayashi and Vilander (two of my previousley favourite drivers) after they beat Freddy Makowiecki. But i think i can forgive them

that one was bait for you SMD!

Ok so recently my internet went down from 0.7Mb download speed to 0.43Mb. The former was bad but the latter unbearable. Especially as I use sky go to watch F1 amongst other things. After a few conversations with Orange's (suprisingly quite helpful) Indian call centre they sent out a BT man who has changed the connections at the exchange, installed a new socket at my house and redone the internal wiring for no cost. I'm now getting 4.8 meg which is not that awesome but for south Cumbria is AMAZING! now I can download stuff, watch F1 AND porn and go on the forum at the same time!!! To celebrate I re-watched this video. Unfortunately it's only available in crappy 720p instead of 1080p. (lol i used to only get 240p at peak times) for those of you that haven't seen this before turn your speakers up.

i agree with him about the noise, the standard exhaust makes the engine sound restrained. However with a few breathing mods...
-
You could probably go to a metal hardware place like thomas grahams and get a full set for a few quid Edit: so long as they are a standard size
-
335i not bad for 22. i got my Z at that age. but i had 5 years ncb and was skint for about 18 months after
-
If you go for the invidia, make sure they fit it like this and not like this: I stole these pictures from Patch's post on another forum but the garage that i got to fit mine made the same mistake.

Yeah you're right there. it would be better if compounds should be more closely matched. when you see people on opposing strategies, such as "prime, prime, option" and "option, prime, prime" the difference in speed results in boring racing. they just let each other past as they dont want to damage their overall race time.
-
Maybe, but at some circuits last year the teams learned to make the primes last almost an entire race distance. I'm not saying they will do the same this year as the tyres seam to be made out of yoghurt, but the teams are very good at adapting. If you take away the mandatory pit stop you might end up with drivers going even slower and trying to 0 stop. It's hard to say what to do with the qualifying and tyres. Any change will no doubt have unforeseen consequences. I do think there needs to be more encouragement to get everyone setting a lap time but giving out tyres left right and centre is not the solution. The teams qualifying further back would say that it's unfair to give the front runners more tyres. I think the biggest problem is that the best race and qualifying set-ups (with the odd execption) seem very different from each other. i know there have always been differences but at the moment it's a bit OTT. for example this weekend, Rosberg got pole in a car with a great front end but was punished in the race because it meant his rears fell to bits. Vettell was a class act yesterday and together with Nico, who defended brilliantly as he always seems to, provided some of the most exiting opening laps of a grand prix in ages. Perez also upped his game yesterday. I had thought McLaren made a bit of a booby taking him on but he showed real pace and determination yesterday. unlike Jenson who spent the whole day whining that people were trying to pass him - Hello, your in a motor race! The last place i expect to see good racing is Bahrain. But the drivers all seemed to see red yesterday and there was some great racecraft. Unfortunately i was watching on Sky go and was screaming at my computer when it buffered every 30 seconds! looking forward to spain!

could you not use a monaro lump and box to solve that? Gearbox from the monaro is apparently a bit crap
-
No doubt it will be fitted with a flux capacitor and an air-ground missile defence system by then.
-
had to look that up and came across this
-
It does look pretty good how it is now. much better than in my phone photo. The bumper doesn't actually hang much lower than the standard one so it still looks pretty good without skirts. i do want some though. i just need to budget myself and not go mad.
-
also have a boot divider on the way curtasy of I4N
-
next up: Skirts good quality adjustable coilovers toe and camber adjustment wheels, - Summer time and GT season making me think competition wheels with fat semi slicks (dont want to damage shiny new bumper on a track now though) Fit decats or sell em and get HFCs uprev maybe rear bumper. looks like my house saving fund that i've been so good with so far is not going to be topped up for a bit

Just ordered a plate from https://www.platesforcars.co.uk/ I know the cannards are a bit marmite but i quite like em

My Motorsport Track Day - Pic Heavy
CrumbMC replied to Aliensurfer's topic in Motorsport & Track Days
Did you drive a Vanquish and photograph a Vantage or did you get muddled up? I'm so envious of you!!!!!!!
