Shame about the conditions but it sounds like you had fun anyway. I was at Spa last year for the WEC. the Spa micro-climate certainly lived up to its name. Au Rouge is STEEP! I know they always say it's steeper than it looks on the TV but I think that is an understatement. I can only imagine the butterflies you would get flying over that crest flat out. Needless to say I'm very jealous. I would love to go this year if I didn't have to drive the entire length of England to get to the euro tunnel - the drive through France and Belgium is very easy as I'm sure you found out. Glad to hear your friend is OK. Stuffing it in a exposed car like a Caterham would be scary enough. But at those temps, in a foreign country and someone else's car - I'm not surprised he was a bit down afterwards.

Yeah summed it up well there Dan. I genuinely think that the merc situation would have happened either way round but imagine how Horner and Marko would react if Vettel and Webber were in each others shoes.

The cars seem to be coming home 2 by 2 a lot these days. it doesn't suprise me with the tyres this season. Driver skill come race day has little effect as they are all driving at 70%. therefore the standings seem to be in order of whoever has the best tyre management. This is why today was 2 RB, 2 mercs, ferrari (fernando probs would have finished 5th or 6th) then 2 lotuses. I think because of this we are going to see a lot of team orders in the 2013 season. Maybe I should tweet that to 'the sky pad' next week and see what they make of it

Those plenums look awesome! would you be able to do mine? -
A bitter end to what would have otherwise been a great race. Team orders ruin racing but without the teams there would be no racing. I think the Mercedes' situation was different to that of RB, Rosberg clearly had more pace than Lewis. However, Hamilton would have fought Nico for the position so from a teams point of view, unless they instructed Lewis to let Nico passed, it was either keep Nico on a leash or let them race and potentially lose points. With McLaren pulling their socks up and Lotus & force India showing good pace Mercedes need every point they can get at this early stage of the season. I think, for the team, Ross Brawn made the right decision and the drivers have shown that they respect his leadership. Poor old Webber. I don't think he will be doing Vettel any favours any more. I think this was the final straw for him and I can't see him renewing his contract with red bull after this year. Which would be a shame for RB as they have a very mature and on occasion, untouchable driver in Webber. He was obviously following team orders regarding his pace today and Vettel's move up the pit wall, which would have been spectacular in a normal racing situation, was very Schumacher-esque. People (like myself) who usually fight Vettel's corner will have lost a lot of respect for him after today. But on the other hand, it is a race, and often in the driver's championship every point matters. Sometimes you have to get your hands dirty to taste success. He said himself he isn't bothered about criticism from the media or anyone outside of the team. Shame it's three weeks till we get a grudge-match.

Yeah a half decent exhaust place can replace the join with a welded in section. Or you could get a tasty new after market exhaust

I didn't explain myself too well. The stud has snapped. There's no thread protruding and it looks to have sheared. Maybe the previous owner over tightened it or something. I thought it would be fine with the other 3 but I think it looks terrible.
-
Can't believe i haven't notice this before: All the juice is WD40 which I have been spraying daily on the other studs before i attempt to remove them. Can this be repaired easily or is it a stud welded to the car?

Lap times do show a cars out right capability but nothing else. to say that a car is better because it's faster round a circuit is right in that respect. To say a car handles better or is more enjoyable because it is faster round a circuit demonstrates a lack of understanding. If a car has so much grip it does mean it handles well. it means it grips a lot. these are two seperate things. Handling is how a car behaves when you reach, or push beyond the limits of grip. - Example. And audi RS5 has a lot of grip but poor handling. the car understeers which is a very unpleasent experience. good grip, good lap time, poor handling, not very fun. obviousley there are extremes in each case. comparing a ferrari 458 against a Subaru BRZ then obviousley lap time is a factor. comparing a GT86 against an MX5 then judging them by lap time is idiotic.

I might have to convince the boss that it would be cheaper for us to powedercoat out own panels. It looks fun! -
Never has the sentence Omg i need a... ever finished with an oil burning rep mobile. OMG i need a poo sounds like a more fitting title! I can understand buying one of these if you do a lot of miles and want roll-on acceleration, but I have never been in a car with an exiting diesil engine. They're just so unrewarding. their lack of revability(?) is like the guy who empies his load just as the sex is getting going.

Shame natural selection tends not to result in death these days -
I wasn't putting down the Zed mate, I still have, and love mine. I was just saying that imho lap times don't mean squat
-
Whether they are comparable or not, a lap time says very little of how a car drives. An RS5 may be quicker than a 987 Boxter round a fast Circuit but i know which one will be more fun. Also, in the used sports car market people rarely stick to OEM tyres, rendering existing lap times pretty useless.

First a bright green car then a bright orange one. Next think you'll be granny shifting, not double clutching like you should

Paddy and Murphy go for a day of fishing, but when they get to the bridge they realize they have forgotten their equipment. Murphy comes up with an idea. “Paddy you hold me by the ankles over the bridge and when I see a fish I’ll grab it." So Paddy hangs him over the side. All of a sudden Murphy shouts, “Paddy, pull me up quick†Paddy asks “why Murphy, have you caught a fish?†“No Paddy,†Murphy replies, “there’s a train comingâ€
