Thanks for the vid post saiper. i have had the airbag light on for ages (weird, as i started typing this a news report about Japanese airbag problems came on). i read how to do it before but the video made it much easier to understand. lights off now, yay!

I had the same problem when I got the car with craptyres on the back. The brakes were definitely (there is no way that this was just the ignition cutting out) grabbing at the front wheel when going round coeners in the wet. I know this doesn't solve your problem but I have had the brakes grabbing before so it can happen. Even if you are nowhere near the pedal. Fortunately my problem was solved when I changed the tyres but if you have just changed the suspension it may not be so simple. Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2

Very cool. might have too break the piggy bank though

I'm going to Silverstone this weekend for European LeMans (Sat) and World Endurance Championship (sun). It should be good racinge and i'm looking forward to seeing the Toyotas bring the fight to Audi this year. also you get paddock access which is pretty cool. Any other Zedders going?
-
the car looks amazing with all the different coloured powder coated bits going together. should feel very tight and new (well as tight and new as an old mini can) with all of those new bushes etc. i may have to make a long journey down to the famous Z shed at some point!

haha. yeah he's class. loved the stumble up the stairs.

They look really nice mate. The wheels go really well with the GM car colour as well. Docwra, as cool as that 911 looks, its clearly a track focussed car and I cant imagine you would be able to drive it on anything that isn't as smooth as a pane of glass. I don't think the guys at Singer would like their car being called weak either

I *THINK* ive been caught Speeding in excess of over 100

If someone gets right up your chuff on the motorway then there are two things i would suggest: 1. ignore him - pull into the lane to your left when you feel safe / comfortable to do so. call him a *&^% and let him drive past you in his audi A5. you will have forgot about him in 2 mins tops. 2. repeatedly spray your washers so his windscreen gets covered in all the over-spray. Then maybe he will get them message. This is also a good way to annoy people lane hogging in the middle lane. motorways are no place for a race. chances are if someone comes up behind you quickly they have been speeding along and will have the "who's this knob in my lane?" attitude. when in fact, they are just inconsiderate and so long as your not dordling or hogging in the outside lane you have every right to be there. don't let them bait you. just carry on about your business. i doubt you will hear anything more on the matter. i once got pulled on a dual-carraigeway in a similar situation although i was going about 80 in a van. same 'copper on his way back from work' situation. he pulled me over, gave me a slap on the wrist and let me go. in the future i would never pull over for anything without flashing lights, but that said, if you're doing excessive speed and a copper sees you doing it, your probably better off apologising than getting him in a bad mood and throwing the book at you. Take it as a warning and don't drive like a yob on motorways. Edit: also posting on a public forum that you were exceeding 100mph is probably not too clever. -
At risk of taking the thread a bit tbh i think if you're stretching tyres then this is the perfect amount. i know it's hardly any stretch but i think it looks perfect with this stance. now where's the masterbating emoticon?...

OK thanks mate. I have used a grinder with a flapper to get the paint off the bar and have sanded it ready for wet n drying now. I think that is the easy bit though. The mounts look like they're going to be a bugger to strip. The bar was under compression when I took it off (it was actually about 7mm longer than the mounting points which is a lot of pressure) so I'll put it back under compressions. seems logical in my head to do it that way. Thanks for the pointers.
-
One more thing, my strut was tightened to compression, ie pushing out on the top mount points, I just had to use wd40, the worlds strongest spanner and a 3' scaff bar to get it loosened but it's tightening and losening more freely now . you mention tension in the bar earlier in the thread, should it be tension, ei pulling on the mounts or compression - pushing on the mounts. I know this might sound picky but I reckon mine has been removed before by the previous owner and want it back on properly when I do it. Cheers Chris

thanks. i have grinder and drill flapper wheels, wire brushes, detail sanders & dremmel but just wanted to hear how the pro does it.

I'm with Ekona on this one. Anyone who runs a suspension tyre setup like the pic above deserves every broken sump and bashed rim that they get. On a ratty old VW that is obviously styled to look a bit outragous and ratty, a BIT of stretch is acceptable. Anyone who has the rims poking out of the tyres like above, especially on a GT car or sporty car makes me think the following things: -The owner spent all their money on (often diabolically ugly) rims that dont fit the car so they cant afford the tyres -The driver must drive everywhere like a granny as their car will obviously drive like a bag of crap and probably rip the tyres off or spin off the road if driven with enthusiasm -The application of dangerously bad fitting wheels and tyres on a car is probably Darwin's theory of natural selection working its magic on the owner via means of a crash waiting to happen. It's your car and i respect that you can do what you like with it. Speaking of which, I just acquired the Mona Lisa and was thinking she would look better with a moustache drawn on with a Sharpie.

Hey Wasso. I'm doing my strut and hopefully plenum this weekend, (ready to fit the spacer you sent me. ) Do you sand the paint off strut. it looks like quite a hefty amount on there but i dont want to use such an aggressive grade and mark the strut. similarly though i dont want to spend all weekend getting the paint off with wet and dry I was thinking of maybe using some stripper but not sure if this is a good idea. Any tips welcome!

Yeah, thats what i had in mind. the strut brace was still very solid with 3. think i'll just try something to make it look nice
-
I just took off the strut brace and it deffo is a snapped stud. Too short to put a nut on. cant rly see underneath but it looks like its welded too the suspension turret thing. My main concern is that it looks crap. Can anyone think if a solution other than welding on a new stud? Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2

Mine was chopped and welded when i got it. i didn't actually notice until i got my invidia gemini, which it sounds great. cheap option chop and weld or good condition used one. expensive (but favourite) option, which will also provide the most gains if remapped is to get a miltek or a invidia gemini or another full cat back (including y-pipe replacement). if you really want to increase flow get some berk HFCs as well but they're not cheap. Middling option. get a cat back exhaust that will look sound nice but not offer much gains. you can always get a y pipe and cats in the future. If you're looking at a new system there are LOADS of threads and videos on the forum, just look in the modification - exhaust section. stay away from cheap crap like unbranded ebay or japspeed. There s a lot of bad press about them.

I was going to come over but when I turned around again you had gone kept an eye out for you in the paddock but didn't see you and my phone doesn't get any 3g there. I've been going to the British GT there for about 4/5 years. there's always good racing but the F3 as usual was boring as hell. I've never watched from lodge before, some great action there. lots of good overtaking moves and 2 cars bursting into flames kept us warm. lol slippers! I wish I had looked harder for you now so i could have had a giggle. I hope they were warm slippers. My feet were frozen all day, only had some crappy pumps on. We didn't go in my car today but we were parked close to an 06 gun metal at the Nickerbrook side and I think I saw a ginger one, and of course a noisy black one Have you had any of your Datsuns out for a track day recently? I haven't been on any since November but after today I don't think I can wait very long for my next one. -

I had never planned on putting them on my car. I was just curious. The name Evergreen doesn't exactly shout performance either.

Has anyone tried evergreens? my friend just had them fitted (not sure which model of tyre) on his diesel Bora and is raving about them. I have taken it with a pinch of salt though as he is a terrible driver but thinks he's good. Apparently the garage who fitted them said that they were a premium tyre and that they are better than P-zeros (didn't say which type though). I had a look at them and they had lots of small tread blocks and the compound felt quite soft. My friend also said that they are a Chinese company and that, depending on the remaining tread, they will replace / give discount on your next tyres if you get a puncture. again this could just be a load of trollup. A quick search on google came up with a tyre company on my work's industrial estate (google stalking me?) and this is off their website Evergreen Tyres are manufactured to the highest standards and undergo rigorous testing processes at all stages of development and manufacture. View the Tyre Grading Comparison Chart to see how Evergreen Tyres compare to leading premium brands. For these reasons, Evergreen are so confident of the quality and reliability of their tyres, that they guarantee them. The Evergreen Guarantee Evergreen will replace any tyre that is found to be defective due to the manufacturing process or materials used. Evergreen will replace any tyre with unrepairable damage resulting from normal road use. Terms and conditions apply
