Surrey, just off Junction 8 of the M25
-
ok no worries, hope it gets sorted

get the faces of the nut flat again and get some heat on there... i can come round and help if you dont have the files and gas torch but not till about 5pm this afternoon
-
get a small flat file in there and re-square off the nut and then get a bit of heat on it before you try undoing with a decent fitting socket

was going to post yesterday that you had best take some tissues to cry in.... amazing how quickly you see past the people and just see the animal eh glad you enjoyed it

i personally think that VED should be placed on fuel (penny a litre or something) that way if you want to have your dodge viper but only use it for 500 miles a year you pay less that they guy driving a 1.8 focus doing 20k miles a year... much fairer system if you ask me. i also think ANY user of the public highway be it in a horse, car, cycle or tractor should have some form of insurance that covers third party losses

OK i have not read the other post and as such didnt get the meaning of what you had posted... sorry bout that
-
Just saying from my point of view its very unjustified, and know one seems to be able to justify it just state its the rules im not debating its the rules im debating it doesnt make sense from a large picture of everything else that's governed i have posted nothing to keep anyone else happy and do not appriciate you changing my quotes to read as such for the record i agree on the most part that it doesnt make sense and i have already posted something to that affect.. perhaps you could 'quote me happy' on that instead of putting words in my mouth?

its a safety issue (by the way i wasnt going to say they pay for them with council tax) cyclists will use the roads, its a clean, green and healthy way of getting about and councils are all for clean and green hence the push for cycle lanes... you know all this already! i get the impression you are having this argument for the sake of having an argument..... M: (Knock) A: Come in. M: Ah, Is this the right room for an argument? A: I told you once. M: No you haven't. A: Yes I have. M: When? A: Just now. M: No you didn't. A: Yes I did. M: You didn't A: I did! M: You didn't! A: I'm telling you I did! M: You did not!! A: Oh, I'm sorry, just one moment. Is this a five minute argument or the full half hour? M: Oh, just the five minutes. A: Ah, thank you. Anyway, I did. M: You most certainly did not. A: Look, let's get this thing clear; I quite definitely told you. M: No you did not. A: Yes I did. M: No you didn't. A: Yes I did. M: No you didn't. A: Yes I did. M: No you didn't. A: Yes I did.

to own a boat on a public waterway you have to pay for a boat licence and or registration each year... call it a tax if you want
-
be interesting to see how much of said money went towards cycle lanes (which most dont use) cycle lanes and road repairs are paid for by local government. VED goes to the central government coffers. granted the central gov then passes funds onto the local gov but these road repairs and cycle lanes are not directly paid for by VED

you used to shite in the road?

but its not a tax for the road its an emmsion tax so it is no its not... you could have the biggest oil burning turbo charged drag racer and as long as it is not going to go on the public highway you dont have to pay any vehicle excise duty.... honestly do a search and read up on the rules.... Congratulation you have no idea what im on about, it was posted that the road tax stop being a tax of the road in 1930 and that it is now a tax for the use of and emission produced by said vehicle not for use on the road so horse, bike, skateboarders whatever don't have to pay it as the produce no emissions, to which my reply was was a BTCC car doesn't pay tax yet produce @*!# loads of emissions, hence its not a tax of vehicle usage/emissions but is actually a road tax there for anything using it should pay, Granted was tongue in cheek but everyone else go it no no congratulations to you.... i cant believe we are having this conversation in all honesty! try reading the rules and my posts a bit more clearly. VED is a tax that is levied as an excise and which must be paid for most types of vehicle which are to be used (or parked) on the public roads in the united kingdom and the rates of this VED are based on the emissions produced by said vehicle your argument just doesnt work o cool so i can drive up and down the M6 Toll all day without paying tax then as it privately owned just like every race track, i know the rules they just dont make sense bit like stupid rule (the might have changed in last 4 years) you must have a working number plate light, doesn't state it has to actually light the number plate up so i can just unscrew my plate and fit it at the bottom of my number and it will pass a mot Or if you have door fitted they must shut but if you dont have doors fitted you can pass an mot granted there are some silly rules.... but rules they are and they are not that hard to follow.

vehicle excise duty for bicycles, runners and horses usung the public roads is just plain stupid.... insurance is another matter

BTCC cars dont tend to be used or parked on public roads... silly argument
-
you ever tried 'jumping off' a horse Daryl? hard enough to get off and get back on in a field let alone by the side of a road possibly causing a danger to yourself and other road users in doing so

War Horse is great! you will really enjoy it... it takes about 5 mins to ignore the people controling the puppets (thats what they are after all) we (the wife and i) have been to see it twice (in london)

Yep we were going to do Baden Baden in the first day but a girl that works with my wife comes from Heidelberg and said it was worth a visit. Next night we are aiming for lucerne in Switzerland. Then up into the alps on day 3.... I have searched the length of the furka pass and worked out where the Goldfinger scene was shot

Don't worry will. I PROMISE you there will be loads of great roads but there will be 1 stand out stretch that you will want to do again and again... Day 1 will be the long boring day of getting to the good bits. I can't wait till Saturday morning myself. We are doing our first night in Heidelberg. Where are you aiming to get to on your first day?

i have never been on one of the big event trips (Wales / Lakez) but i will give you a bit of advice from someone who organises a trip abroad with friends every year and who goes on a euro road trip every year.... you will get loads of people saying YES they are interested in doing a Euro trip but when it actually comes down to it the costs will put a lot of people off. anyway as a rough guide to costs we go every year for a bout a week (me and the Mrs) and do about 2500 miles... thats over £600 in fuel alone.. factor in abou £100 a night for hotels and then add food, crossings and tolls you are looking at the best part of £1800 for a week away driving some great roads. all the above is based on a week... yes ok you can do a quick cheap weekend to the ring but if you go much further you will need longer! another area worth thinking about is the Ardennes. beautiful part of the world and some great roads.
