Do what The dial background and colour change So I come back to be greeted by a gay chatroom
-
That looks awesome! HOW DID YOU DO THAT??!!!
-
Nah mate, WV2 is gunmetal
-
Sorry but recently I have seen so many threads on rattly dashboards it's unbelievable! I'm guessing this is due to the season/temperature change... Hopefully somebody will be on to give you some advice matey
-
Yep they do all the work required on my car. The first thing I did was ring Andy up, they know their stuff!! What do you guys think the outcome will be? I don't want to be kept in suspence until they can look at my car
-
Thanks a lot mate. Forgot to add, I spoke to CS who've advised they will have a look at it next week for me. Just wanted a heads up. Also, the technician was scared of breaking the bolts as the car would become undriveable. They were at the bolts for ages! He said he didn't want to heat it incase he damaged the rubber bush behind the bolt having to replace the whole bush instead.
-
Hi all, I finally got some time to go and have my 4-wheel laser alignment carried out today, it did not go to plan! Once the report was brought up, the technician informed me there were a few components out of line and required adjusting. One component that was out of line and could not be adjusted is the front left (nearside) wheel, apparently a component needs to be replaced? I advised the technician to ignore the front left wheel issue and correct all the components he could. I was then greeted with some bad news...THE READ BOLTS ARE CEASED AND CANNOT BE ADJUSTED! After a lot of trying the lads gave up and advised I would have to get these bolts removed or replaced myself and bring it back to them within 14 days to have it done and not be billed again for having the alignment report done. Can anybody please provide me with any advice? Looking at the report below, is my car badly out of line? Is my front wheel okay the way it is or do you suggest I should replace the offending component? The images showing ceased bolts and alignment report are below. Your help is very much appreciated. Many Thanks, Hassan

What's wrong with the handbrake?? I have to pull the handbrake all the way to the last click until it actually holds the car, sometimes I fear one day I'll end up ripping the whole lever out the console! My handbrake lever looks more upright than the Leaning Tower of Pisa!! What's wrong with the handbrake?? If its not properly adjusted at each service it can be pretty crap! I used to leave mine in gear too, even though it was properly adjusted. That is in my list of things to do during the next service Hopefully it improves!! Once I parked up outside CS and a woman was walking past around the back of my car, the thing started rolling back even with the handbrake 'on' and the woman sh*t herself!! The car was in gear so it only rolled until it locked into gear (once I released the clutch pedal), I was still inside the car. You should have seen the look on her face She did have a laugh about it when I opened the door to say sorry!
-
I always switch off my car with the clutch pedal pressed as I always leave it in gear because the handbrake is ridiculous!

Any of you watch episode 3 of Top Gear USA? Nissan 300zx wins the challenge I still don't think it's anywhere near as good as the UK one but it'll do for now... http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0 ... Episode_3/

Im pretty sure when i looked at the figures for my 1999 stock R1 they were supposed to be able to do 186mph! We weren't at full speed and there were 2 of us on the bike. 174 mph was quick and dangerous enough seeing as we were going over a few humps in the road making the bike jump a bit, I was literally sh*tting myself! My mate (the owner) claims it goes past the 200 mark. That makes sense seeing as it had a few modifications carried out on it.
-
cheers buddy, i knew about that thread just wasnt sure if it was still going been a while since ive been here No problem mate. I love bikes but don't own one unfortunately I've always looked at bikes in a different way and respected them much more since I had a ride on a tuned up Yamaha R1 in Germany, which took me just past the 174 mph mark on a nice open A road. You just cannot beat the thrill and experience they provide...just another level... You must have got yourself a nice deal seeing as the biking season is over now? You might want to get that edited... You might want to get that edited... Double  You might want to get that edited... In Germany! Oops I forgot to mention some vital information guys, this was carried out on the Autobahn

You'll be fine mate don't worry. I used to stress a lot too, you'll soon realise these cars make a lot of mysterious noises, you'll get used to it mate. The zeds to tend to have a very noisy transmission (including the gearbox, clutch and flywheel)
-
I'm sure that's perfectly normal, it's just the Zed's noisy transmission (flywheel) which causes a rattly sound for a second or 2 when the engine has been switched off. I get a similar noise too. Someone will be around to provide more detail I hope

Price always depends on who you use. My labour costs are high because of the way I carry out works. I'm very oldschool and very proud of how I work. If its not perfect then I wont leave it. When I complete works and leave you wouldn't know there has been an engineer in the house. If you pay cheap the usually you get what you pay for. If its your cousin i'd expect a decent price but don't let him get away with shawdy workmanship. Theres two different types of tradesman... a fitter and an engineer. Thanks for the heads up, I will ensure the work is of a high standard. He is a professional kitchen fitter who has been on a few courses to get his qualifications etc so he is clued up. With regards to how you do your work, that's how everyone should be but unfortunately you get the odd cowboys who're out there to do others over by doing a bodge job, take the money and go. A year or so later major problems will occur due to the quality of the work but the 'engineer' cannot be tracked down. I suppose that's life hey... They have probably been using it as a beer fridge anyways. Leave it where it is, buy another and plant it at the other side and get your cousin to plumb it in HAHA that's a good one! I tend to have students who are in their second or final year so they do seem more serious about their studies rather than getting pi**ed up every night and getting laid. First year students tend to stay in university halls then branch out to private accommodation/houses once they've found their friends. When I was a university student myself 2 years ago (graduated in 2009), I worked for a company called Unite for 3.5 years whilst being a student. Unite are the UK's largest landlord. I was responsible for managing 4 student halls across the University campus (over 1,000 flats) in the evenings and weekend, this was the best 4 years of my life!! This is how I got the idea of becoming a student landlord, through my experience in this occupation. Neil your labour costs are not "high" they are the going rate for a qualified tradesman as opposed to someone on the dole who does a bit of plumbing and kitchen fitting for cash. Hassan we do a lot for student landlords and I know where you are coming from. However as an example of how profitable student letting can/should be we've just done a large terrace in Manchester bought for £160.000 spent £8,000 now with four students in each paying £360 per month (total £1440) . What else can you put £170k into at the moment that gives you over a grand a month? I agree with you mate, there are plenty of people around (usually foreigners) who are prepared to get the work done to a high standard for quarter of the normal cost. They tend to be very hard workers too! The only reason I wouldn't use them is because they most likely won't have the required qualifications. As a student landlord I have the responsibility to ensure all the work is carried out legally, following all legislation laid out. That is exactly why I chose to purchase a property next to the university campus and go for the student letting market rather than the residential letting market. There is a lot of potential! I also rent my property to 4 students on a multiple occupancy basis with 1 communal room. What do you do for student landlords then, refurbishment? Housing development? Thank you mate, I really appreciate your advice! I will not be touching the kitchen myself, I am useless!! I will let my cousin get on with it once we agree a price (I hope!!) renting to students earns you nearly twice as much rent as you would expect from a family or a professional. The house is slap bang in the middle of a university area so renting to students is the wisest option. To be fair all the students I've rented to so far have been great! The only headache is having to find a new set of tenants every academic year as they don't tend to stick around longer than one year. I have found a lot of them tend to find girlfriends/boyfriends they decide to move in with When the new tenants move in, you have to go through the inventory and other check-in procedures again which can be a pain. Finding the tenants is not an issue as a university owned lettings agency does that for me. As the house is rented on a multiple occupancy (a contract per room), I have to find a group of 4 friends each year as it has 4 bedrooms. For the past 2 years 1 random person has joined with a group to form a group of 4. This could be risky just incase they don't get along! So far however, it has worked out fine. Also just to add, the university lettings agency has laid out strict rules with regards to renting out the property: - Hard wired smoke alarms on each floor and a carbon monoxide sensor in the kitchen. - All furniture has to abide by fire regulations. - All rooms have to either have a escape window or a fire door. - Valid EPC and gas safety certificates - All electrical appliances have to be PAC tested. - Deposits have to be protected through an external agency (ie MyDeposits). - The property has to be fully furnished (This includes bed, desk, chair and wardrobe in the bedrooms. Kitchen has to have a washing machine and all essential appliances and white goods. The communal room needs to have sofa seating enough for the number of tenants and a dinner table etc. Some or all of these apply to normal landlords too but they tend to be stricter with student landlords. There you go, you got your long winded explanation Are there any other student landlords on here? EPC's are my role - so you can add another trade to the long list of occupations on here on a side note - you said your cousin can "do" electrics - as you have to provide Electrical Periodic Test - this must be done in accordance with the 17th Edition of the IEE regs - if he isn't qualified - you may have problems ?? Ahh....I'll be getting in touch with you in a few years time then to get my EPC certificate renewed then They're quite convenient as they last 10 years! Don't worry my cousin is no a cowboy, he's got all his qualifications/accreditation to carry out anything related to kitchen work (including electrics NICEIC and plumbing). I'm sure he's 'Gas Safe' certified too. With regards to electrics, I don't think any modifications will be required electrically, just plumbing work will need to be carried out. I had to upgrade my consumer panel/board (whatever you call it) last year as it was really old and would not pass the electrical safety test/Periodic Inspection Report on the property. At least I'm okay for the next 5 years now...

At one point my occupation involved driving a lot of different cars. One of the most impressive but underrated and overlooked cars I had driven was the new Honda Accord. That car seriously blew me away...it drove like a proper luxury car, it had enough poke to get me around and it had a countless amount of gadgets that even higher class cars didn't have. I tried to think of a gadget or a feature the car was missing an I struggled (I did realise it didn't have massage seats )! In comparison, if the Civic is anywhere near as good as the Accord I would definitely go for it! In terms of gadgets and features I'm not sure how they are but engine-wise they will be great. The 2.2 litre powerplant should have enough poke to get you around, that's what the Accord had and I'm sure they are both the same engines? I have a lot of respect for Honda's...

Think it was a pointless discussions like most discussions are.... Was in the kitchen a few minutes ago getting out the mint choc chip ice cream ready for a movie I'm going to watch, my mum walked in and mentioned she just read on a news website that England are happy to go ahead and stick with summer time permanently. They are waiting on Scotland to agree so this can be rolled out across the UK. I'm not sure how accurate this news website is however, I forgot to ask which which website this was.

There were talks of stopping this time change to save energy (1 hour less electricity consumed on lights etc) and increase in people's safety (sun will set later therefore people will be traveling in daylight). What happened about this? Is this one of those pointless discussions or are they actually considering it?
