Looking forward to seeing these fitted -
Not sure they can dip people hehe

This really is a frightening clip!! As said above I've had the odd YouTube explore as plane wrecks but this is another level - watched this vid with no-one around and still swore out loud when it happened, awful!!

Matt's Azure Adventure! - Decats & Japfest prep Pg.21

Ah OK thanks for the heads up on the kits. Yep mine were(still are) solid. The guy trying to do my wheel alignment was pretty much hanging off one of the bolts and it wasn't having any of it!! Might look at a price for the 4 bolts see what I can find. Alex only has one set in stock and will have to order the second set. But if I need to order another pair anyway for the kit I might put this on hold for a little while. Just get it aligned 'as is' with new bolts and do coil overs in the winter. -
There is a company local to us that does this (may even be the same guys?). My misses has the bonnet, spoiler, and soon alloys done by them. Their dipping skills are very impressive. After the summer quick a few bits of my Zed will be done, mainly interior. Looks really good & they can do a whole world of different patterns and colours.

Havent made any updates for a little while, nothing ground breaking at the moment but just a few little things that I've been doing to keep myself busy. The bigger bits are being collected this weekend & at Japfest Hopefully get the majority of it fitted before our Wales trip in July. Over the past week or so Buster helped me fit an old engine grounding kit he had going spare. I will replace it at some point but for now I am more than happy with it I have given the cables a quick clean up....just need more orange in the engine bay to continue the theme. I also had another present from Alex, which was my passenger side headlight washer cover. This popped on very quickly and has tidied up the front end of the car a treat! really happy with it And a quick snap of the car the other evening down at the seafront, was a lovely day after work so went for a quick blast with some friends. Last weekend I also treated the car to new boots all round. After much deliberation I opted for Falken 914's. These seem to provide better wet grip than the 452's and seeing as these will eventually become my winter tyres I thought it would be a better option. They have been fitted and balanced, unfortunately my car matches a number other Zeds out there and has a rather alarming amount of surface rust underneath. I think it may have live near..or IN the sea at some point in its life. This results in me needed to get 4 new bolts at the rear so I can get the alignment adjusted - needs some camber and toe adjustments. It looks like these bolts are pretty expensive in themselves, so I am toying with getting coil-overs and camber adjustment kits sooner rather than later. The kits come with the bolts, so if I buy the bolts now I will only end up with another set of bolts when I eventually buy the camber kits......thats my logic for buying a new set now and I'm sticking to it!! and I will ofcours need to get coilovers at the same time I am looking to at either the BC Racing or HSD coils, with the camber arm kit, most likely a full set of wheel spacers and maybe some adjustable topmounts? (or do people think topmounts would be over kill? Cheers, Matt -
Don't forget to turn the page and...

Yay, my pic -
Curly Wurlys have also been fettled with - I'm sure those bad boys used to be over 2 feet long?
-
Good point They were pretty light so could well have been alloy. I've had 3 cars since so cant really remember. I would have thought a steel set would be heaps stronger, hence why you are wanting steel
-
Im liking the neon chrome look. Only thing i will say about the type listed in the Demon Tweaks link is is based on a similar set i had on an old car. My set could have been a cheaper, worse quality set, however i found that after a few on/offs the curved grooves would start to round out. This would cause the tool to slip and found it hard to tighten/undo the nuts. But these might have deeper grooves etc and not have any problems
-
These are pretty! But i have zero money until payday if by some ridiculous turn of events you have these at the end of the month maybe we can talk But i would guess that Octet will be along soon to buy these hehe!

Hey CS, No not looking to use the strips of LEDs - I did think about using them but as said above i think they will look a little amateur. I am keeping this plan close to my chest for now (incase it fails haha). However if it does work I will post up my work, if it fails I have lots of LED's spare to follow the setup like yours It is a long shot, but if it works as I hope I think they will be more visible during the day. watch this space ..... I agree with the waterproof strips of 24xLED's - I used these on an old MR2. I fitted some to the front sidelights and two sets to the rear. They looked really good IMO but as said after time they begin to fail and small blocks of 3 LEDs fail. I planned on doing something like this to the rear of the Zed but after melting one rear light in the oven, and the proven reliability issues i decided to just buy a set of LED ones from the US. Here are the LEDs on my MR2.

Scratch that - my reflectors just landed in my desk from the US! Very quick delivery and good looking quality too! Time to start fettling
-
Hey CS, quick question as I'm not with the car right now. Do you know the length of the reflector? I am hatching another idea and need to make a purchase from eBay. I would guess at around 15cm or so, do you know off hand?

^^ Haha Tool chest is looking good matey. Bone&shoe is not looking so good though -
I've been blowing hot and cold on this idea each time i look at my car.....this thread has pretty much made up my mind......they will be painted blue! Really cleans up the lines of the car
-
Some daytime pics would be sweet - bit late now though seeing as I already bought everything I need haha!! Not sure if the same applies to Zeds, however a friend did this on a BMW and took the ignition feed from the ABS unit. This way the lights came on with IGN and stayed on for around 5 seconds after turning off the engine. Was pretty cool

Advisory for the air freshner!! Wow!! Were they having some sort of bonus if you gave away X amount of advisories in a month or something? What a josbworth! I know you found that placment of these should have no bearing on an MOT failure etc, and i doubt it would matter anyway. Bt maybe routing a small kill switch into the cabin, or even near the battery comaprtment might be an idea so that they can be safely turned off and no-one would be any the wiser (unless you went nose close to the reflectors and saw the clear LEDs).

I have both sets coming in the mail from the wonders of HK so will compare the brightness. Looking at the description of the ebay link to your LEDs it says 8000-10,000 mcd, however the title says 30,000. Not sure if the seller is trying to pull a fast one. I'll no doubt be dropping you a PM when they land off the boat so i can double check some wiring info if thats OK Matt

Shouls start to get things arriving this week for my attempt at doing this. I have just bought another set of LEDs from eBay, same power as the previous ones but these have a wide output - around 160 degrees or so. Might help give more of a bar of light as opposed to focused points of light. We'll see Where did you wire yours into mate?

I used to use black hole glaze on my Lexus turbo, really good stuff. The Lexus was Scarlatti Red but the glaze really gave a good depth to the colour. Would look good on yours too, but it was clean enough yesterday so stop cleaning as it shows up the rest of us!

Really good photos! Car looks spot on, nice processing too -
