  1. Only once from memory, was around 8 years ago. I passed a marked police Landy on a dual carriage way, he was cruising at maybe 60, I trundled passed him at 70mph then he flipped the lights on! Pulled in trying to think what the problem was - it was the spacing on my number plate. Back then I spaced the plate M44T RS. Used the normal size lettering but obviously still breaking the law. I played nice, luckily the officer did too and just told me to sort it out
  2. I'm not a huge fan of any TBH. But if I HAD to fit some I would absolutely get matching colours. The pink on blue, or this on that just look odd and make them stand out (not for the better). Both items being blue or pink work OK and as above the pink is STI 'ish' which is smart
  3. This looks epic I think those two pipes (in the centre) will be for the waste gates (Tial ones it looks like to me). Also called screamer pipes no?
  4. Agreed on the above. I think a dash cam is vital these days as people change their tune to how things happened to try and avoid a claim etc. I may even get one for the rear of the car. Luckily I have never been in an accident worth making a fuss about (I nudged the back of a taxi once at a junction when I was a lot younger). I have always said that should anything happen I would at the very least get my phone out and record the conversations that followed. But I fear that should (when) the worst happen one day, I just won't be in the frame of mind to remember this and start recording the conversation.
  5. Without knowing the speed of the road being pulled onto, I'd say the Pug was doing maybe 60, if that. Morgan was clearly leaving some kind of event given the people lining the road and decided to give it some (or as much as he could given the car). He didn't read the road, or look left.
  6. I similarly framed at 6'3" 15(ish) stone. They are fine on longer trips, I just stop after 2 hours to stretch my legs and go for a walk
  7. I'm still fine tuning the seats in my MKII Nismo for comfort. However they are FAR more uncomfortable than the stock seats in my old GT spec. The rear part of the base seems far narrower, and less padded giving me a dead leg/bum after a few hours driving. Or perhaps it's just the taller side bolsters on the base digging into my legs. But just look how pretty they are!! Worth the pain all day long Not sure on these seats, but a member picjed up similar ones from a Juke RS I think (?). They were around £1,500 and that was considered a bargain.
  8. Great news! Looking forward to the pics
  9. Nice one Strudel, good PS skills. Agreed on red, but I've always had a soft spot for white wheels! Black looks a little lost. My current plan has just been to use the existing wheel colour, or similar, which is a dark grey metallic. This matches the front lower bumper on the car. My concern is devaluing the Nismo wheels by removing the diamond cut. May just get some aftermarket wheels and store the nismo's
  10. I'm not liking the diamond cut edges either! I posted with Photoshop colours a while back (I used the exact same picture that you have ). I like the wheels on the Nismo but the diamond edges just don't do them justice. I'll be following this with interest
  11. High time for another update here. Not had much time to do much to the car for a month or so as been busy with work and general ‘stuff’. But 2 good jobs have been done so here are some pics. First up I managed to complete the sound proofing in the boot area. It hasn’t made a massive difference, but certainly helped reduce the general road noise when cruising at 40+. Don’t get me wrong the car is still very loud, but every little helps as they say! I went for the two layer approach using both 2mm Silent coat tiles, and 8mm (I think) mass loaded tiles. Took a few hours start to finish and everything went back to gather as expected - some panels were a squeeze though as there was an extra ~10mm of stuff between them and the car. The boot area is now pretty good for sound levels, but it has now made me more aware of other cabin areas that need further sound proofing. Such as the footwells and under seat etc. So when I have some money I’ll continue working through the car to reduce road noise. It does add weight but I think it is offset by the comfort levels. Stripped out Step 1 Step2 The miles are certainly racking up on the Nismo now. Took a trip ‘Up North’ to the JAE Reps meeting in P’boro, then up to visit family in Nottingham. The following weekend saw us take a trip near enough to Doncaster to get view (and purchase) a new car for the SO. Here they both are parked up together on the way home. A very tasty (and very rare) White Evo X with manual gearbox. Comes loaded with plenty of carbon extras, and a remap. The only snag is it makes the Nismo look like it has cream paintwork :/ Next up was to fit the Berk Tech exhaust I’ve had at home for a while now. I had the centre pipes repaired as there was a crack on one of the welds, gave it a quick polish and it was good go! So I put a call into The Zed Shed and got myself on the waiting list……then boom! A sudden cancellation saw me get an appointment yesterday evening. Load up the car (Snug!!) Up on the ramps Back on the deck My initial plan was to return Gizmo to OEM Cats, and just run the CBE exhaust. However time was not on our side last night so we took a vote and the ART Pipes are still on the car, along with the shiny Berk CBE. From The Zed Shed to home is around 15 miles……yet some how my drive home last night was almost 70 miles As always, massive thanks to Chris & Bob for giving up some time and facilities to help me out On idle, gentle driving and motorway cruising the setup sounds incredible. Then under WOT the sound is insane! Super loud and gives a sound to match the looks! I need to live with this for a few weeks just to see how I get on as it’s certainly loud! I’ll try and grab some videos once I bust out the GoPro Off home to Wales for Easter so this will give some good seat time to see how the volume is. However for now it is very addictive. I am leaving the car in gear for far longer whilst driving around just to make noise. It will no doubt hamper my MPG’s but that’s not why we buy these cars! That’s all for now, thanks. Matt
  12. Pressing a button is better for me as I am a control freak lol! As for mats, nissan want to charge me 68 quid. They don't want to even give me any fuel :o I went for the mats, I don't think I paid that much but luckily had some staff discount. If they were asking that much I would have likely just got some nice ones online somewhere. For fuel I would be glad they don't give you any as their drivers only have fuel cards for 95RON. Or at least they do at the dealership I used. They just chuck in a 1/4 of a tank when they bring the car to the dealership for handover. With this in mind we took the car to our local Shell once it came off the transporter and brimmed it with V-Power. This way the drivers didn't have any room in the tank to put crap fuel However this was another perk of having my SO work at the dealership as we took the car to Shell on trade plates prior to registration, not many people would have this sort of access. For the folding mirrors, I now always use a little trick another member posted about ages ago. When you park up press the button to fold in the mirrors and turn the car off as normal. Then before you leave the car press the button again to unfold the mirrors (they won't move until you next start the car). So when you return after your shopping and start the car the mirrors 'automatically' unfold. It's a little thing but I always grin at it What's this all about then?
  13. If you're worried that the wrap guy will damage your car, then you're using the wrong wrap guy!! Done correctly wrapping should leave no marks or damage to your car. Else why would people get supercars wrapped.
  14. As above, first year road tax will be covered in the money you have already paid, so no need to worry for 12 months. If this is a brand new car then you are the first owner. The dealership will not be an owner.
  15. The colour in that first picture is incredible in the sun!! Also, cracking work on the interior wrap! Definately food for thought
  16. Is that with the same company? Yes, although granted its not their usual remit, more of a specialist company, i called loads of recommended, they were all with £25 of each other roughly. Yah, I think it all depends on what type of car you are insuring and with what company. I've always had modded cars, and always moved between Adrian Flux or Sky Insurance. However, when moving to the Nismo Adrian Flux wanted an insane amount of money (I think it was around £900). The guy on the phone was pretty open and said it was just due to the car being unmodified. I am currently insured through Admiral and its £420. Once I start popping a few mods on there I will no doubt move back to Flux.
  17. I usually run Falken's, good balance of performance and price And yes, Dan will be along in due course to give you a telling off
  18. I'm on board with the stitching, but the uber bright knee pads are just nasty!
  19. Side stripes are nice, but that interior is just awful.
  20. Pea Roast http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/115658-no-just-no/
  21. Postcodes are maybe the biggest culprit, as above. I also found that job titles have a huge impact, which was a big surprise! I ran some quotes through a popular meerkat based website on my old 370z and the quote went from £6xx down to £4xx just from changing my job title, and adding my misses. 30% less!
  22. Was going to reply to this last night but was on my phone and CBA to type so much! I collected my Nismo MKII in January and also batted around with the idea of PPF. Using my LMB 370z (and old 350) as a stone ship reference the worst culprits were the front bumper (obvs), front of the bonnet, and front of the roof. With this in mind, and my extreme dislike for stone chips, especially on a spanking new car I had the following PPF'd: Front bumper Wings Bonnet Full roof I also went with the self healing wrap for peace of mind, however I noticed the roof has a small tear already which hasn't 'self healed'. I'm going to give a call to the wrapper to see what he thinks, perhaps some heat will help. Overall I am pleased with it and think it will give good peace of mind. On the most part the wrap is invisible, but I do have the odd edge where some dirt has got under and is more visible. But I am hoping that a clean with a cotton bud or something will remedy this. I see you are in Ringwood. I had my work done by a guy on the Nuffield Ind Est. He does VERY good work, is very well priced, but he will make you go crazy with the delays and wait! So take his time estimate with a massive pinch of salt. Ping me a PM if you want an intro. Are you buying it from Westover? When mine arrived they had no issues with the car being protected, as you say, it's in their interest to keep it nice at the end of the day. Cheers
  23. This doesn't sound fun, I hope all goes well mate However, this instantly reminded me of this thread from years ago! Absolutely genius! The guy Blu-Tone recalls his visit to the doctors, and the fluids needed prior. I read this at work the first time, there were tears! (Also now re-reading it for amusement) http://singletrackworld.com/2009/02/the-picolax-thread-returns/
