Renovo do a Restorer in black by the way which will get the colour back to what it was.

Don't know the answer to the glue question but mine has lived outside for a year now in all weathers and has been fine so far. I put Autoglym Roof Protector on every 3 months and look after the seals and joints carefully. When I first got it I treated it with Renovo. I dry/clean the roof off regularly so that nothing dodgy builds up on it. Plus I follow the instructions - ie, I don't try to operate it under 5 degrees and I don't put the roof down unless it's properly dry.

I did this with a Mini that I bought for £50 and stripped down every part and re-built it but I spent a totally disproportionate amount of time dealing with rust related issues rather than the mechanical bits. I would be +1 re Ekona's MX-5 idea.

Yes - the looks from the rear when the roof is up are an acquired taste but better when the roof is down. You need to look after the roof and seals and moving parts to minimise any problems. The benefits are as Will described - you certainly do get a better sensation of the noise compared to the Coupe - even with the standard exhaust. Whatever you choose I am sure you won't be disappointed. When I was looking I would have bought either - I was just after the best car I could get for my budget (inc history, condition, seller etc).

Sounded really race car mad with the HFCs on (in a good way) However, I suspect that it might have got a bit much. I've had some pretty loud cars in the past and... yes its great for a quick burst but can start to grate on longer journeys. .

I will try and think of some really cool thing about being the age that I am .. but in the meantime I'm 60. Ah..... actually the coolest thing was hearing stuff like Tin Soldier, Pictures of Matchstick Men, Sunshine of your Love, Baba O'Riley, Fortunate Son, etc, etc, etc, for the first time.... and many more on little transistor radios fading in and out all the time. Eg.
