  1. Sorry to hear about this. Hope it will will be resolved satisfactorily one way or another.
  2. I must confess to not feeling 100% after Tony Higgins took me through a forest stage in Wales and that was just in a Forest Experience School Astra, by no means a WRC car . Having said that, it was deeply impressive at the same time. It also convinced me that I should go down the tarmac rallying route instead (which didn't come to anything either).
  3. Yep - as I had various searches set up to find a replacement for my bashed Corolla, I came across this. I needed an auto though Same series as mine. I am going for the lightly armed Personnel Carrier version.
  4. Thanks Nope re overdrive - that's the 1.6 Executive Model. As it happens I also have one of those (1993) - a 4 speed with overdrive and another 300cc to play with - that makes a massive difference! Having said that the 1.3 engine is much sweeter than the 1.6.
  5. That's good of them, how generous was the cash offer compared to the value of the car? I guess it's cheaper for them in the long run rather than court time & insurance etc etc. I would say that their offer was almost exactly right for the car and mileage. Today I have bought another one which is 3 years younger, 30,000 less miles on the clock and with more stuff (e.g. electric windows and drivers air bag) and only had to part with £175 net. No V8 - 1.3 auto with a 3 speed box
  6. Eddie Stobart wrote to me and formally confirmed they were responsible for the accident. There were 5 panels damaged including 2 doors. Attempts to work out a local but economic repair have fallen on stony ground. Even getting the doors 2nd hand has become a big problem (without buying a whole running car). Have decided to accept their very sensible/reasonable cash offer for it go to salvage and me to buy another one. Off looking at some replacements tomorrow. There aren't that many decent ones left to look at so it's easy in that sense. My insurance company have confirmed that my no claims bonus won't be affected.
  7. Haven't been able to get a car in the garage since Caterham 7. My trolley jack now has pride of place as I don't own an Austin Chummy.
  8. Well done Dip - good price and no messing about

    All very tastefully done
  10. Good luck with getting it sorted.
  11. Sounds like a good solution. Let's hope all goes well with it.
  12. The Eddie Stobart man has already been round to have a look and take pictures. Naturally it's beyond "economic" repair but it is repairable. The main thing is that the basic structure is sound. Front and rear wings can be done by a panel beater and the two doors sourced separately. They are going to write to me with their proposals.
  13. Good luck with the meeting tomorrow.
