  1. Completely different but I bought an ex Group N Peugeot 309Gti for a track car because it had all the safety stuff already on it....full roll cage, plumbed in extinguishers, rally spec seats and harnesses, double throttle springs, brake pipe protection, etc, etc. It had standard profile wheels and tyres but I bought good tyres for it (might have been Yoko 021R...it was a long time ago). I actually found that the "feel/give" from the standard profile tyres added to the fun (albeit not to the overall speed ). They were very light cars even with the roll cage - I stripped everything else out that I could (and got polycarbonate windows, etc. The brakes were always the issue however, even with Mintex race pads and posh fluid - I really needed to spend a bit more...but I would just put in a few laps then have a break. I was just trying to do it all as cheaply as possible. Naturally if I had a bigger budget who knows but it was still great fun and the guy who bought it from me just carried on as I did. Good luck chaps
  2. If I was on a budget and just wanted to have fun I'd stick with what you've got initally. If I was going to change I would stay on 15s and lower the profile. However, this would be subject to what you feel needs doing to the brakes (they are usually the thing that causes the biggest problems). It's just that if you need bigger/different brakes you might need different wheels.
  3. Darren - with the new ARBs have you noticed any change in ride quality - I know in theory there shouldn't be on a soft setting - but just wondered.

    Tyre choice

If I could start all over again (having had 050As on the Rays for some time) and having studied what people have said I think I would have gone for the Michelins - I suspect they would give me the greater "feel" that I was looking for and I am sure that would translate to more sure footedness in the winter as well. Having said that I think the 050As are very competent. I have now gone down a different route altogether (using 17s and summer/winter tyres) but I think that is a red herring based in my own particular hang-ups
  5. Standard was either 17s (early/import) then 18s. The 18s were either Touring (heavier) or Rays Forged Alloys (much lighter). As has been said, many upgrade to 19s. There are plenty of people on here who know about the bigger wheel options but I'm not one of them. Big Wheel people will be along in a minute, I'm sure.
  6. Pop chargers mainly give increased (improved in my opinion) induction noise but can lead to heat soak at lower speeds. I personally opted for the induction noise
  7. Maybe I'm missing something but he has made over 300 postings over time....so I'm not sure what he has done wrong.
  8. Continue to follow this with interest
  9. This whole thing is crazy. Do people not read the Owner's Manual. There is a section in it which is headed "FUEL RECOMMENDATION" and it's very helpful because it recommends what fuel you should use (the octane rating that is - not the make). Why not give it a try There is lots of other useful stuff in this very appropriately named Manual
  10. The money doesn't sound out of line.
  11. Good work. I guess the next key question will be colour. My vote is Magenta for the Workshop and Aquamarine for the Lean To I was "leaning towards" Cerise but naah.
  12. My local Nissan dealer was pretty good. They emerged with a large set of different master keys ....checked until they found the right one....bought one and ordered a back up...job done. I had also driven off with mine still on
  13. Sounds perfect. Less heavy crap to remove. Good luck with it Messrs B and W.
