  1. It is possible that I have this wrong but I thought a 370 was about 1500kg and the GT86 about 1200?
  2. I personally don't think it's about facts but I think we are in a circular argument now. The main thing is we all go in our preferred directions for our own reasons and we ride happily off into the sunset
  3. I have discovered that the DAF FTG CF85 6X2 has over 430 bhp...that's the one for me then.... or is there a catch somewhere?
  4. Thanks Like the sound of that. One to consider for the future then.
  5. Pretty much because it didn't try and oversteer at every single corner. Whilst the fact that the 'Yota does like to have it's arse hanging out all the time is probably half of the appeal, I much preferred the way the stiffer front springs on the Scoob allowed the front end to tuck in quicker. This meant you could get back on the power earlier and ring the neck out of the engine, and since that's exactly what you need to do to make progress it seemed like the way to go. The interior is slightly less awful in the BRZ too. We did come very close to buying the BRZ but the numbers just didn't stack up in the end. Anyone who thinks that 200bhp isn't plenty enough for the roads probably needs to learn how to drive Thanks Dan - very interesting and, in principle, I prefer the sound of the characteristics you describe. How did you find the ride quality - how did it deal with bumps and ruts particularly mid corner? Sorry if bit OT for original OP.
  6. I ended up with 299 on a DE with the addition of the bits listed below but it can vary quite a bit. My car only had about 28k on the clock when it was done.

Try Volkspares. I managed to get all sorts of stuff from them to save my son's Polo from certain death. See below - wrong firm sorry.
  9. If being left at the lights is a deal breaker then, yes, it would be hard to explain the appeal of a Caterham 1.4 Supersport (one of the sweetest models made) or an Alfasud or and indeed, a GT86. An early morning trip on your favourite B road might though. I am not saying the car will be lifeless and boring however I would put money on going from a Zed to a gt86 you wouldn't be happy with the power at you feet. I just don't see anyone who can argue the point of this car which I would not budge on. The top price currently on auto is 36K for a car that can get of the line to 60 in 7.6 secs. Tell me a sports car for that money on sale today that is worse than that. It isnt small like the vx or elise that you could say it would be a monster in the corners, although I will admit it might be half decent around a bend but with no power to pull it out its a waste. Very nice to look at but if I bought one in someone in a 370z pulled up next to me at the lights I would feel stupid. Each to his own. This is like trying to explain why some people prefer Jazz or heavy metal. I owned a 2CV once so I have a high level of resilience to the traffic light beauty parade
  10. I think you are saying you preferred the BRZ version over the GT86. Out of interest, Dan, why was that?

  12. Well done. Slipped disk and track day car - the perfect combination I assume that you must be on the mend now. When I had a prolapsed disk I couldn't contemplate getting in an out of a car of any description but I must just have been a wimp Have fun with it ... the car that is.
  13. 17s fit over Brembo brakes ... I have that combination now.
  14. You are not doing anything wrong. It's just that, for reasons which are not, perhaps, totally logical, the market for people buying modified cars is smaller than the market for people who buy standard cars and then modify them. It was a good point earlier about stating if it had a re-map at Abbey. It may just be that you will just have to wait a little longer for the right person to come along. Good luck with the sale.
  15. I would be Cayman, 370Z or GT-86 for me (assuming it's only as a road car).
  16. Love the sound of the diff and the over-rev when it leaves the ground
  17. If you have a Pop charger your old plastic air filter box will have gone and in its place a cone shaped open air filter will be in its place often with a heat shield on the engine bay side with Jim Wolf Technology written on it. The info about the re-map is incorrect. It has to be done by one of the licensed tuners - search UpRev remap on here. It doesn't bring radical power gains but gives much better mid-range driveability and smoother throttle response in the first three gears. It's worth checking if it's already been done. Try Abbey Motorsport, Horsham Developments or RS Tuning. All on here - depends on your location. PS. Better check that any further mods won't affect your warranty.
  18. This is a complete red herring and entirely trivial but the Orange Caterham Supersport I owned had once belonged to Mrs Clarkson. This is my only brush with celebrity. It didn't get me a free ticket to Top Gear though - maybe they thought I was a fantasist
