  1. I used to work in a garage, in the days when petrol was served at the pumps. In the evening the owner used to pay me handsomely to pick him up from a remote location and deliver him to another remote location to meet his mistress, then to wait around and return him from whence he came. So, I had 2 jobs to keep my Standard 10 on the road .... those were the days. It was a hard life if you'll excuse the phrase.
  2. Initially I was thinking you might be ok; then: - I studied the feedback in detail going back over previous years and it's not quite as perfect as it first appears (having said that it's not terrible either) - You said he issued a cancellation saying someone offered more after the sale (that is not exactly cricket is it) - There are one or two other question marks you have already referred to I just think there are maybe a few too many warning bells ringing. There are a lot of Zeds out there. PS. Good luck whatever you decide to do. I have bought quite a few cars from Ebay with good success so far but I try and look for sellers/items where no obvious question marks exist.
  3. I am not quite sure what makes Ekona's opinions so offensive to some people. Yes he is forthright but we aren't lemmings or wallflowers. It's not Rumania in the 70s... we don't have to do what he says. In places I have worked, Dan would be nowhere near the extreme end. I genuinely don't understand what people are concerned about - what risk does Ekona pose to this forum or society in general? Answers on a postcard please
  4. I can only afford 50% of a 350Z so I share ownership with a mate, as I have with our last 4 "fun" cars.
  5. There is no pleasure at all at being under pressure financially. All you have to do is hold back on the modding until the loan is cleared. You will then feel 100% better about everything. I would not advise you to take out any other debt because then you are in a viscous circle. It's only a few months after all. I'm trying to be understanding here (I'm not sure why - maybe because I vaguely remember I was young once). You are unlikely to get much sympathy here otherwise....there are people who are under pressure financially for stuff that is a hell of a lot more important than sticking bits on cars.
  6. Commander - it's standard width and without the wheel but it would be helpful to know definitely.
  7. Other stuff will be going in the passenger compartment... so all I need to know is if I can get one in the boot thanks.
  8. I have searched and I have found amazing pictures of people with umpteen wheels and tyres strapped to their cars with boots open (and even on the roof). However, my question is much more simple. Will a standard 350Z 18" tyre fit in a Coupe boot....and with the spare wheel and floor still in place and the boot closed? I have a roadster. It won't fit in there but I know the Coupe boot is bigger. Thanks in anticipation.
  9. There are a number of owners who clock up large mileages very reliably and yes, 30mpg is possible if driven in the way you describe.
  10. I think you did the right thing. If you had done anything else to the bikes you would have then been on the back foot instead of them. Hopefully lesson learned
  11. Having followed both cars and watched their progress over Surrey's pitted and rutted roads I would go for the Evora as I have no desire for back or dental surgery but maybe it's a different on the inside? I haven't set foot in either of them.
  12. +1 to Sam's order of tyre preference shown earlier. If you can possibly get the MPSS's that would be the ideal answer.
  13. I like these too. Good luck with it
  14. The best place to start with this is: 1) What is your budget? 2) What are you trying to achieve? At the moment it's a bit too general for anyone to give you some proper advice.

    Best tyres

The general consensus is as above - that Michelin Pilot Supersports are the best....but you have mentioned mid-price....so, as mentioned earlier, it would help if you could tell us your budget. MPSS have come down in price recently though.
  16. Hello Moderators. I have already obtained the information I needed to compare the 313 with my DE. As this thread is now not really adding to the sum of human knowledge perhaps it could be closed. Terence can post his own thread with an appropriate heading if he needs further assistance. Thanks.
  17. Good to see that you are gradually getting it sorted
  18. Oh,such a comedian! Quite typical smart @rsed reply on a uk forum. Actually it wasn't a smart-arsed reply at all. I was actually keen that people should help you out. I was referring to the fact that the DE model I have now has a dipstick that is almost impossible to get at (a well known fact). So what I meant was that moving it to the front was an excellent improvement. You should not be so defensive. I was actually very supportive of your situation as many people aren't as fanatical as we are over detail when buying a car. Forget the fact you hijacked my thread.
  19. I'm afraid that reversing appears to be my Achilles heel: My father was head of the East Surrey Police Traffic Department many years ago. When we swapped our cars over on the driveway the procedure was always the same - he would back off in one direction.. then I would go in the other. Not in this particular day however. You can guess the rest and the reaction of his colleagues down in Godstone It was on a par with the reaction when I was caught speeding by the officer who taught me how to drive (which was in itself a miracle because I was driving a clapped out Hillman Minx at the time). I was due to part exchange my very embarrassing brown british car for my first Alfa - an Alfasud ti. On the morning I was due to make the exchange I backed into a concrete post - strictly speaking I scraped the back wing against a concrete post. Actually the Alfa guys were quite understanding about it - in a "falling about laughing" kind of way. We came to an "understanding". I won't bore you any more but backing into an ex Mungo Jerry piano that was being restored in our integral garage (removal of psychedelic paint and flowery wallpaper); using the weapon that was my Mum's Daf 44; was one of my finer moments. That was the classic wrong pedal panic/brain won't work scenario. I'll end it there. Residents of Surrey will be pleased to hear that going forwards I seem to be fine
