  1. Also I must confess I have always loved hot hatches. The performance is very accessible and you can chuck them around - they are nimble and very easy to live with, particularly in a B road situation.
  2. Sometimes stuff happens in life that is like a trigger that "allows" you to do what you wanted to do anyway. It may well be that you have not quite found the 350 to your taste and this current situation gives you the "justification" that you are changing for a legitimate reason (if you get my drift). If that's the case, then it's an all round win if you go back to the Type R.
  3. This investigation is also a reminder of what good value 350s are and 370s are becoming.
  4. W126 went until 1993. It was the next lot that were unloved in the main. People are just starting to cotton onto the engineering in the earlier cars, albeit rust can be an issue. Prices are on the way up.
  5. Yep - I think that is a W126? Am looking at those as well. Big though.
  6. There is a modest yearning I can't get out of my system and I may have to do something about it (86-89 because more of it was galvanised and was improved in many other ways). It's the very long run 70s/80s Merc SL. I have this image of me relaxing, arm resting on the window ledge, 5L V8 auto, comfortable seat, picnic basket, Panama Hat (thanks Scott at Abbey for that suggestion ), European Roads, summer's day, woman with headscarf, etc, etc. I even like the MB Tex cloth seats. My apologies as I know this all sounds a bit sad I can justify it no more than I could when I bought a 2CV but I just had to have one. I have already done a lot of desk/book/internet research but I just wondered if anyone here had ever owned one.
  7. I haven't read this as in great detail but the following occurs to me: - psychologically you should feel better knowing you are leaving - having been through the legal route myself (and won) I'm not sure I would want to do it again (not that you are proposing that) - you can literally count down the days now - if possible it would be good to see out your time with a big smile on your face - thus depriving them of any perceived victory - even though references are just part of the process - they are still part of the process if you see what I mean - the thing to focus on is the end result
  8. Hermann. I also had a Maxima (QX here) in 3.0 spec. Even though they are not particularly cool, it was very cheap when 5 years old and better than I was expecting.
  9. You just need to be aware that it is recommended by Nissan that the car should be run on Super Unleaded.
  10. Be careful because your Owners Manual might fly out of the car
  11. Michele Mouton is now 62. I am assuming she now drives a Honda Jazz
  12. Couldn't have put it better myself.
  13. I find it difficult to be objective. I love Alfas and my two previous were fun and reliable (lucky I guess). Yes I'd love one but it's unlikely to happen
  14. Spare wheels with winters on just waiting for average temperatures to drop enough.
