  1. When all is said and done I guess each owner makes their own decisions for their own reasons. One thing I have always done with my performance cars is to put in the best oil I can.... I can't see much downside to that other than an element of additional cost.
  2. Andrew - yep I have mine which you are welcome to borrow if Dip's doesn't fit but Dan's suggestion re a local Dealer may be a lot more convenient for you.
  3. As a fall-back position I'll see if mine is there, just in case BBK's doesn't fit. However, mine is a DE Roadster - I don't know whether they share the same thread as per NeilP's posting earlier. Will update later this AM.
  4. James Dalton rides again.
  5. It's worth reading this: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/71469-the-advantages-of-synthetic-oils-over-mineral-oils/ To a lesser degree, the points covered in the above would apply to semi- synthetics also. The other point is that when it is not clear what use the car is going to be to, it pays for members to be cautious with oil recommendations.
  6. As NeilP said earlier - which responses are laughable and why?
  7. None of them are laughable because they are just trying to help the OP in good faith and from their own knowledge and experience.
  8. In the old days you would de-flood an engine by starting it with your foot fully on the throttle. This would mechanically open the butterfly valve fully and thereby much more air would come in and some surplus fuel would evaporate. However, with drive by wire etc, I haven't got a clue (that's helpful isn't it). Does the same not apply?
  9. I will no doubt attract derision now (for not driving it hard enough) but I have averaged 27mpg over the last 3 years.
  10. If you search EP3 on here you will find lots of people who have come across. 23mpg is a very sensible average to work from but more is achievable with a light throttle and right circumstances. Equally much less can be obtained.
  11. I always put a cloth in the line of fire so that any silicone spray that goes beyond the joint only hits the cloth.
  12. Worth a look I think. Would want to know more about history.
  13. When you can also try lubricating all the moving parts with silicone spray. The temperature limit for recommended use is, indeed, above 5 deg c. Try it a few times when it's warmer and hopefully it will be ok.
  14. Does it relate to the road surface in any way (ie. uneven surface, bumps, etc)
  15. You say that but we agree on quite a lot of things except for tyres even then we agree but we all know what your like. Plus I'm not a keyboard warrior troll :-p I bet if we ever met we would either be trading punches or be BFFs. I find this breakout of peace rather moving. However, in the words of Basil Fawlty's brother who works at Mixed Tyres of Torquay - "Don't mention the tyres"
  16. Have a look at the FAQ/Guides section. You will get many of your answers there.
  17. Yes, Caroline bought me a kindle last Xmas, which I thought was a complete waste of money....I now read about a book every week . Pete Yes....I've got one recently. What I can't understand is why my wife bought it for you? Or is your wife called Caroline as well?
  18. Or passing judgement Yes apparently I have f'd up logic
  19. Many thanks for this link. For some reason I hadn't come across this firm. I thought I'd found most of them.
  20. Steady on old chap... this is my lifeline at the moment... how sad is that?
  21. Wise words. I was going to click on the"Like This" box but that seemed a bit dodgy
  22. Unfortunately at the moment I am confined to quarters (home) for 90% of the time. It is at times like this that I am likely to do something stupid. Could be: - Buying a car I can't afford - Gambling on the stockmarket - Buying some piece of technology I don't need. - Getting involved in some crazy controversy on a forum - Annoying my friends or relations by phoning them up I know it's going to happen as sure as night follows day. I must think of some DIY project before it all goes pear shaped. I have no idea why I have posted this. I suppose it took up another few minutes A good book perhaps.....
