  1. Just coming down from Netherne Village to turn onto A23?
  2. Last time my wife had the epidural it definitely helped - she is having another one on 5th December. Unfortunately she can't safely have the facet joint injections because of the metalwork and Graf ligaments in her spine. Hopefully you can then get some physio lined up. While you are benefiting from the pain relief it's obviously a good time to build up as much core strength as you can.
  3. Fixed that for you Neil Sent from the golf club... What a splendid chap you are

  5. Now retired but previous 2 jobs were: - Marketing and Distribution for a large Retail Stockbroker - Exploring new market opportunities, business problem resolution and developing future talent at an FS company I didn't have the Zed at the time. However, at both companies it was noticeable how "what car you had in the car park" was a major source of "mine is bigger and better than yours" discussions which, at times, became laughable. So, in later years, in protest, I used to commute to work in a D Reg 1.0 Polo/Nissan Micra Colette (thus also pocketing the alternative cash allowance each month )
  6. Please PM me if you would like any individual names. However, they are all in London and the South East so this may be no good at all for you (I don't know where you are located). Consultant works from Spinal Unit at the Wellington Hospital in London, Physio is at Active8 Rehab in Chertsey and Pilates Instructor is in Farnborough in Hampshire! It took as years to find the right people and it does involve some travelling for us but no more than 1 to 1.5 hours, so it's normally viable.
  7. My wife had a form of spinal fusion years ago. However this was a Graf Stablisation - which has screws in the vertebrae effectively supporting flexible ligaments, which theoretically allows some movement in the spine but supports it at the same time. In reality the degree of movement was so small that this section of her spine is effectively fused anyway. This is a different operation to what is being proposed for you, I think. I don't think it would make sense to try and relate her experience to yours as every case is different. However, if she were to have her time again this is what we would observe from our experience: - the detailed analysis of the problem is critical. When observed on X-Rays or MRI scans, many people's backs are imperfect. However, this does not necessarily mean that this is the cause of the pain. Many people are walking about with imperfect backs but are not in pain. I can recommend an excellent consultant if you wish. - it is quite amazing what a good physio can achieve but it is imperative that they are experts in the physiology of the spine and know exactly what they are doing. My wife has a great one now but, frankly, it was a long time before we found him. The right programme, followed in due course by properly supervised core strengthening exercises like Pilates and swimming can make a big difference. - the pain killing injections can work and act as the "enabler" for the physio if you see what I mean. People seem to react differently to them - some get excellent benefit for a good period of time, others not so much. Hopefully you would be one of the lucky ones. My wife had to have hers by epidural - they can't inject in her joints due to the screws, etc in her spine. The injection did help. - naturally if you fuse one section of the spine it puts a little bit more pressure on the rest of it - this may be worth discussing with them when the time comes - but if the remainder of the spine, neck etc and in good condition that may not be an issue. If my wife was writing this she would say to make surgery absolutely the last resort but techniques have naturally improved massively since she had hers. All the best - I am very sympathetic to your situation. Neil
  8. Absolutely. We got caught/stopped in the snow in a Caterham at the Goodwood breakfast years ago on the steep hill away from Goodwood. The pathetic driving of the oncoming downhill traffic was bothering me. We decided to slide the Caterham sideways into a farm drive. Not a moment too soon.....as someone in a Skoda Fabia going much too fast (i.e.. 20mph) slid across both carriageways to where we would have been. We stayed where we were until a snow plough turned up.
  9. Missed you too! No ones missing me Coldel - my theory is you will be back in Zedland at some point The thing about the Vx/Lotus go-karts is that they really grab you in a fanatical way for a certain period of time. With my S1, I was totally obsessed for about 2 years and then it all vanished at a stroke - but I'm still really glad I did it. Having said that, the first person I met at near Backontrack in Guildford had owned his S1 from new and had done 145,000 miles in it....it's the exception that proves the rule. SMD - Winter tyres?
  10. Wheel size is just a question of your own taste and preferences. I prefer smaller wheels but that's just me.
  11. I therefore conclude that I haven't been driving mine properly I will give myself a damn good thrashing (as opposed to the car).
  12. Stillen for the later models has an air box I think.
  13. The ARDs test seems like a good idea. When I got my National B a few years ago, I think it was just a few simple health questions and no tests of any type (you still got the pack and the blue book etc). I do recall, however, that a nice man from the RAC MSA examined my helmet (ooh er missus). The bigger deal for me was getting the car signed off - which somehow I managed in one hit.
  14. The JWT ones I have seen have all been blue. One of the traders may confirm one way or the other.
