  1. For children (fine) or short adults if the front seats are well forward or the Krankies just as they are. They would certainly serve in an emergency.
  2. I'm confused now. It was his first response to this question I was referring to (not the second one re the Ebay seller). Anyway it's all clear now As if I would Anyway back to the subject - the OP needs a rear window for a Roadster.
  3. Thanks for the comments everyone. Ricey... I know what you mean about not clicking with a car ...that has happened to me several times with what would be described as "highly rated" cars, that I just didn't get any feel for. For some people the XK8 would also be too soft...and would take better to and XKR. With this one, I think it helped that I had not really considered them at all - I would just go "oh yeah it's an XK8". Also with some of the trim combinations I felt that the inside can look old-fashioned. My co-car-sharing mate, however, has really liked them for years. So I went into it with no real expectations - but have now really taken to it. Partly it's because it's the right car for me at the right time. I don't think I had noticed how good looking they were until now.
  4. I think he's done that already Will - see above
  5. Thanks Will - will do - it's quite a different ball game from the 350Z (I have only sat in a 370 at Goodwood - and it wasn't moving at the time - perhaps that could be corrected? ). The ride quality of the Xk8 seems exceptional but the tyre pressures were quite a bit too low at the back and too high at the front - it will be interesting to see what it rides like now - I have gone for an OEM middle setting - they give a range from "comfort" to "normal". You only really hear the V8 if you put it in sport and floor it but the rear pipes should solve that.
  6. Not a lot to say really. Here it is. Only one modification planned - replace rear section of exhaust for Adamesh rear pipes. Will only cost £199 but it gives you more of the V8 sound without being obtrusive. Just need to get my wicker picnic basket now My experience with Arun in Pulborough (an independent Jaguar specialist) has been very good so far.
  7. I think it all depends on what sort of experience you are now looking for and how the mood takes you. I think I am going to get just as much pleasure from the XK8 as I did from the 350Z but in a different way. I guess the same could be said for an SL. If you are thinking of going for the arm on the window cruising experience then why not? I tend to keep an open mind - it's not all about speed. For example, I can honestly say that the most fun I have had in a car was in a 2CV - purely in terms of laughs per mile. In terms of raw experience, however, I'd say an R300. Currently I'm cruising. I also looked at a CLS350 because I think it could be a classic in the making and the R107 SL but the prices are going ballistic. The later SLs are currently a bargain.
  8. I like these. I went down a different route in the end but these were on my shortlist.
  9. Good news. Faith in human nature restored (sort of)
  10. Well done +1 to PlusGas. I'm embarrassed to say it's only desperation that drives me to get the tools out nowadays (e.g. when my son's old Polo was in danger of being written off due to uneconomic repair) - £158 for me to fix it with 2nd hand parts.
  11. Stopping planes - very practical - maybe stop China? Perhaps putting some/more Ethanol in petrol is more doable.

Have a look at the Buyers Guide. It's in the 350Z FAQ section of the forum.
  13. Why wait? Excellent.....congratulations. Another one moves over to the dark side

  15. I suppose if 0-60 times interest you that may be true. I have no idea how the Toyota compares to other cars in this respect. Nor do I care. All I know is that point to point it is a very difficult car to shake off, whatever you are driving. In 8 months of ownership I raced against everything imaginable around the streets of Dubai and not a single car disappeared from my view. Most memorably a brand new F-Type convertible which I chased for about 5 miles and at the end of it he was the same 40 yards ahead of me as when we started. This doesn't mean I'm a driving hero or that he wasn't trying. It means in the real world you can have one hell of a lot of fun for 14,000 quid which you wouldn't be having in the diesel hatchback you cite. I agree with the whole principle of what you are saying I love the whole idea of rowing a car along at 90% using anticipation, momentum and technique to overcome raw power.
