  1. I must confess I never see the point of this sort of debate. It's almost like trying to understand why some people like Jazz and others hate it. However long it is debated, there is no such thing as the right answer. Still I suppose this is what we all do to pass the time... ....so sad are we The sound of a car is also a very personal thing. If I took any notice of what people think I would never had owned an orange 2CV, or my daily ride - a Toyota Corolla 1.3 auto bought new in 1992
  2. and good luck with sorting out the insurance and mechanical issues.
  3. On reflection this seems a pretty bizarre list but here it is anyway (in alpha order - it would take me too long to work out chronological): Austin A35 (The car I had when I met my wife - but it didn’t put her off) Alfasud Ti ‘S’ Alfa 145 QV Austin Mini 1000 Red (bought as a wreck to practice DIY skills on) Austin Mini 1000 Lime Green BMW 525E 2.7 Auto Caterham Supersprint Caterham Supersport Citroen 2 CV 602cc Fiat Uno (Fire) - a trifle flimsy Fiat Punto Hillman Hunter Super Auto Hillman Minx Series 3 (Bench seat, column change, failed MOT spectacularly) Jaguar XK8 4.0 Coupe (Still have it) Lotus Elise S1 Nissan Micra Colette (went to my sister) Morris Minor (Split windscreen) Morris Marina 1700L (don’t go round a corner and hit a bump at the same time) Nissan 350Z Roadster Nissan QX Red 3.0 Auto Nissan QX 2.0 Manual Nissan QX Grey 3.0 Auto Peugeot 304 Peugeot 309 Gti (Gp N) Rover 213S Rover 216Gti Twin Cam (Honda Engine - better than it sounds) Rover 412 Standard 8 (bought for £10) Standard 10 (first car) 89 Toyota Corolla Liftback 1.3 auto (12V) 92 Toyota Corolla Liftback 1.3 Gli auto (16V) - bought new and still have it 93 Toyota Corolla Liftback 1.3 Gli auto (16V) Grey 94 Toyota Corolla Liftback 1.9 Diesel Manual (went to my son-in-law) 93 Toyota Corolla 1.6 Liftback Executive Auto - still have it Vauxhall Vectra 1.9 Cdti (150) auto - sold after 1 week! 4. Excellent series of photos Colin I couldn't make it this year, sadly.
  5. This has to be the right approach.
  6. Personally I think this will be of more value once you have had a proper conversation with Jez to discuss your impressions and see what he has to say.
  7. I would just like to take this opportunity of saying that, whilst I don't think the Zed is the greatest car ever, I do think it is a great car notwithstanding it's faults
  8. from a previous Alfa owner. Price target is fine and good buyer's guide on here
  9. Price sounds like a reasonable starting point to me. Apart from the obvious physical examination - based on the buyers guide I would study the service history in detail (hopefully they might have the actual invoices?). V5 and past MOTs will verify some of the other stuff (locality, past MOT advisories).
  10. Well done Will I thought I'd done well when I paid £275 for mine
  11. Good luck with finding the right car.

Sorry to hear about this and hope you get it resolved ok.
  13. Continue to follow - with great interest - good stuff
  14. .................This was in the middle of France in 1975 and the first and only time I've seen a nun driving a car. Pete I guess they don't make a habit of it.
  15. The only thing is I wonder whether we have placed too much emphasis on giving 100%. If the game was British Bulldog then that would probably be enough. With a number of the world class players how often do we hear something along the lines of "he didn't seem to do much - apart from the 2 great goals he scored". It takes a high degree of confidence and presence of mind to remain completely focused, aware and calm enough when the small number of opportunities come your way (not to mention the degree of skill required).
  16. Agree with all of that..as most of the problems happened on the left hand side. I am not sure about Milner though....yes he's a battler but in the last game he played he seemed to give the ball away too much. We had chances. We never got in front to build confidence and had insufficient composure in front of the goal at this level.
  17. Sorry to hear of your problems. This happened to my niece (with a form of night time epilepsy). They now have it well under control with medication. Her Ford Ka sat in a farmyard (unstarted) for 1 year. She got me to go and try and get it going again. The brakes took a bit of persuasion to un-weld themselves, and bit of general jiggery-pokery was required. With a new battery and fresh petrol it started second time. She didn't have a recurrence and got the green light from the DVLA. I'm not sure I have seen a happier person when she saw that little ol' Ka coming down the farm drive. Good luck
