    MPSS and snow

I thought winter tyres have a softer compound?
  2. Am considering possible future cars down the line. Would need to be an auto. Already want to have a look at Cayman, 6 series and XK (maybe R). Just reminded myself of the existence of the Alpina B10 (a V8 5 series) based on E39. Anyone ever had one - any thoughts? I feel like B10 prices may be have bottomed out - sort of (like I thought about R107s - but didn't do anything about it - they are now double what they were)
  3. Met Will this morning and he told me all about this. Will be following with interest
  4. These are very tempting for the money Ended up with the XK8 instead but could just as easily have been a 6.
  5. Boredom. The "reasons" I come up with are just some sort of post-purchase rationalisation.
  6. Cayman is one on my "for the future" list.
  7. 9.40 this morning. Very nice 55 Coupe with rear diffuser and non-standard badges at the rear.
  8. Moskvitch, Wartburg, Yugo, old Seats and Marinas - all very strong contenders Re the ancient Land Rovers - a mate of mine took me on a short trip into Cardiff town centre in one. He had to saw away at the steering wheel frantically just to keep us on a straight road at about 30mph.
  9. Do you want the Scottish Independence thread to reappear here?
  10. I have now decided my winner is a 1993 VW Polo Genesis Couple. Vile steering, suspension made from concrete, seats that I could never get comfortable in, sounded like a broken sewing machine and had a gearbox as rubbery as a Malaysian forest. Then it injured me. While I was at an event, testing a tarmac rally car, my mother in law endeavoured to move the Polo off my driveway (she normally drove an automatic). Somehow she managed to reverse at high speed and embed the Polo into the side of my house. I was called back to try and sort it out. In the process of trying to extricate the remains I suffered a prolapsed disc and was off work for 6 weeks. That car was a pig.
  11. Which Megane is this - the booty one or later or earlier?
  12. Daewoo Matiz - yes I can't see many redeeming features there. With the Sunbeam, at least there was the Lotus version I quite like small Fiats There were lots of Saxos used in the "stock" class of Rallycross so I have a soft spot for them. My only Vauxhall I owned, I sold it after a week.
  13. Now we're talking. This is the sort of vehicle I had in mind when I posted this thread. It is likely that it's performance was only marginally better when new
  14. From all written accounts it would appear that the Pacer was truly horrible, albeit I have never driven one. The Nissan Micra (of any vintage - even a Colette) has always had a gearbox which works (i.e. the gears correspond directly with that selected by the driver). So, in this (and many other ways) it is superior to almost every british car I drove in my youth.
