  1. Was at Goodwood yesterday. Great meet but very cold.
  2. On behalf of me and my 23 year old Toyota Corolla we extend our sympathies. Such battle scars simply add to the character, as the Toyota can testify.
  3. Yes - Japex have a good reputation as well (I haven't used them myself but others speak highly of them). Good luck.
  4. I know it's distance from you (in Rochester, Kent - albeit on your "side" of the country) but it really might be worth you having a chat with Sly at Kaizer Motors - a trader on here. His reputation is excellent and he might well be able to help.
  5. Their approach is so short-sighted from a business perspective. They could build a great business through repeat custom but that seems unlikely.
  6. I haven't been to Nigeria myself. Is it a model of modern governance? I only know what I read in the papers.
  7. I for one would prefer to retain the person who made my company the most money This is the argument in a nutshell. Are there more important issues in corporate life than the pursuit of profit? Maybe the company I currently work for is an exception then - they take the longer term view that investment in peoples wellbeing is paramount and yes you might lose a few £ in the short term getting rid of bad eggs if they make good money but theres always someone else equally capable but doesnt disrupt the workforce. The company I work for makes a lot of money globally, maybe that gives them the opportunity to get rid of bad eggs and bullies but its not like they have only just started doing this its been the culture from the start. Longer term, leaving bullies and bad eggs in your business is bad business no matter how important or good at making money they think they are. I agree with you. My question was simply a prompt to consider the morality and implications of profit at any cost. I know what sort of company I would want to work for and took a big decision many years ago to do so...even though that caused me some short term pain at the time.

  9. Just by way of total trivia I once owned a Caterham 7 that had previously been owned by the aforesaid Mrs Clarkson.
  10. I guess this opens up the wider question of how much sh1t "ordinary" people should tolerate just because someone/something is "famous or powerful". It's really a point of principle versus those who point out how much money is at stake etc. There are parallels in private/public life and between nations that mirror this type of situation. I am not making a point about Clarkson specifically because I don't know what happened.
  11. I have also had to investigate and act on an incident of physical violence (one employee upon another) at a social event where all the "guests" were also employees. That person was summarily dismissed due to the exact nature of the incident. This was in a FTSE 50 PLC. If it had been serious verbal abuse, however, I guess we would have come to some other decision - I guess some sort of written formal warning with a "second strike and your out" clause.
  12. What on earth have you done to merit this? Perhaps some therapy is required?
  13. On news - from family who are said to have been there "it was a torrent of 4 letter abuse" - understood to be directed at a member of BBC staff - plus something along the lines of "I will get you sacked". Rumoured that he dobbed himself into the BBC.
  14. So that's: 1 Clarkson "lover" 1 Irrational (x2) So far. 499,997 to go.
  15. Adrian Blyth - an independent dealer near Hindhead.
  16. Purely from an academic perspective it's interesting/weird to think that there are 500,000 people who are prepared to sign a petition to support someone when they have no idea of the facts. It got me to thinking - who are they? UKIP "style" supporters yearning for a return of an "earlier" Britain which they mourn the loss of? Genuine "lovers' of Jeremy Clarkson? People just doing it for a laugh to see what happens? A genuine vote against the management of the BBC? Something less rational than any of those?
  17. Who mentioned a "grown man" ...I missed that bit
  18. or the lack of it At least it was something important
  19. I'm rushing out to take off my winters now. Hopefully my wife with then think I'm a real man ...or maybe it will take more than this? Worth a try though
  20. It's quite common to have a few wear and tear issues to resolve with any used purchase but once they're done you will be in business. I have my fingers crossed re the roof though. Let's hope they use a bit of analysis and brainpower to identify what's wrong. Abbey Motorsport sorted mine out - half an hour proper analysis and one re-aligned switch later - job done.
  21. I think they had Stadium Trucks as a round of the Race of Champions this year. These seemed to cause a lot of amusement all round.
  22. My earlier journey similar to yours - Caterham to 350Z but via a Lotus Elise to bridge the gap! Now a Jag - sad isn't it I loved the 350Z by the way - old fashioned RWD feel and great steering.
