  1. Well I had a 2l SE (2005) and they are a nice looking car but I found it awful to drive, underpowered and very little torque. You had to rev the nuts off it to get anything out of it and it rattled like a bag of bolts in a washing machine. Oh and it was as uneconomical as my Zed.... I didn't like it at all, it was really for Mary as she had always wanted a black coupe and to be fair it was a nice step up from her 1l punto, but whenever I drove it I wished I was in the Leon.... On the plus side I paid £6k for it and a year later traded it in against the Zed for £5,700 at S2004U I am sure your son-in-law will be happy with it, they look lovely (bit like an old Ferarri) but it handles badly and is slow, even the V6 version is barely quicker. Hmmm ...it's exactly that model he's bought. It was cheap and with a very good history. He didn't like it at first but now says he likes a lot - interesting to note your observations though....I think I'll keep my own council That was a good deal by the way
  2. 4.00 and 4.25 respectively today. Must admit the 370 in white looked very tasty
  3. SMD - I notice the "surrender" flag against the Hyundai Coupe - any reason for that - it's just that my son-in-law has just bought one!
  4. You are right, it's a lot of the car for the money and the chances are it will probably cost you less to maintain/repair than some of the others you are considering.

I could of gone for elephant.co at £213 but decided to stay with admiral and for the record I'm 58. Do you live in a vault? I'll come round and let your tyres down if my arthritis is up to it It's people who let other people's tyres down who are driving my insurance premiums up
  6. Amazing but true - so was mine - but it was 1958 in a powder blue colour. Subsequently I went downmarket to a Standard 8, which if I recall correctly did not allow you to access the boot from the outside

  8. Dalos - one of my relations still mourns the passing of his Opel Manta to this day
  9. and good luck with the search. I agree that the auto would probably be the best option.
  10. Thank you Dan. Most kind. I am sure there is more spectacular stuff to come.
  11. You keep yours in the garage Mine is watching the telly.
  12. If it was me I would put it on Ebay with as much information as possible, loads of photos and a detailed honest description, warts and all. I would put on an attractive starting price to get bidding underway. I never cease to be amazed by how much you can get if it is clear to buyers that there will be no hidden surprises (assuming you have got a good feedback score and it isn't photographed round the back of the council dump, etc, etc).
  13. Yep - I keep finding excuses to drive it
  14. I've had more than 40 cars but here are 3 of my favourites:

Insurance £223 Do they think its an A35 rather a 350Z? That's an incredible price.
  16. Its business not personal - so my view would be that there isn't such a thing as an unfair offer - it's just an offer. It's not compulsory to take it. You are simply weighing up the advantages and disadvantages and +/-£s of one approach versus another (which include such factors as price, convenience, advantages of other car on offer (where appropriate), reliability of payment, etc, etc).

"Age shall not weary them ....." Other than when I am trying to lift those standard 18 inch wheels onto the hubs I must get some Rays.
