LOL funny story, spoilt American brats eh? Bit of a shame they could only find a toy car for the photo!
-
If it was a JDM.. I think he might be the manager of that Tesco... car is always in there haha

Hope its not a repost, or been popular before. It's so amazing to see clearly how we as humans are both massive, important and complex, but also tiny and insignificant at the same time. http://scaleofuniverse.com/

+ many to both Sarnie and Rtbiscuit. Don't have a lot more to add tbh.. they both hit the nail squarely on the head.

Because I'm posting on a public forum, I'm going to agree with the others and say call the police. If it was my girlfriend.. hmm... Threatening women like that is the lowest of the low.

Be careful this Xmas Brits
waltzinblack replied to Tarmac@TarmacSportz's topic in Off Topic Discussion
six people DIE eating christmas decorations!? What the hell do they make them with? Asbestos? Cyanide!? How could you be munching a bauble and not realise after the first couple of chews that it is clearly not edible and is very, very disgusting and then spit it out? -
Pretty sure I get the same thing dude, although mine are Decats. Maybe post a video of the noise if it sounds that out of the ordinary, but I think it's normal!

Motorway Variable Speed Cameras, Anyone been done?
waltzinblack replied to slimjim's topic in Off Topic Discussion
SO many conflicting stories about these sodding things. Some people say they aren't 'ON' unless they display a speed, some people say that if they aren't displaying a speed then they only catch you over 70, some people say they are actually higher than that.. 80 or so because if it was 70 the computers would overload with the amount of paperwork The only thing that seems to be agreed is that if they display a speed in a red circle, then they will flash you if you break it. If there's no red circle then I don't know. I think they are a huge waste of money though. I don't think sitting at dead 70 with the cruise control on is as safe as if you have people doing speeds from 60-85, it keeps you more switched on imo. Plus they are a huge waste of time and money, all those ridiculous average speed sections and roadworks seem to have JUST been to build those cameras! M25 was boring enough! -
How comes Top Gear apparently tested the BRZ here.. it even has Subaru badges.. http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/suba ... 2011-12-03 And it has the same engine/output at the Toyota one? What about all the rumours of the Subaru one having a Turbo and 300bhp!?

I used to hate people who parked in 2 spaces. But only about 2 days after I picked up my Zed from being resprayed (lots and lots of stone chips and door scratches plus someone went into the back of me!) I parked it in Arnos Grove Tube station car park, tiniest spaces in the world, and returned to my car to find a door scratch. Great. Since then I only ever park across 2 spaces, unless that particular car park has people going around who give you a ticket for such things. But in the supermarket I always do, but I park really far away where no one else is so they can't get annoyed! Parking ACROSS TWO disabled bays is a different matter though!

Absolutely awesome. A friend studies systems engineering.. he will love that. Thanks for sharing!

Could it mean something to do with the button that locks the windows from going up and down? Just a thought... It is probably important though, it sounds as if it's saying don't use the switch to raise and lower the windows, but surely you dont do it by hand!? Reminds me of the terrible chinglish (or japglish..) that I used to read in airsoft gun manuals! 'do not fire in place where people or the car will pass cross!' 'the motar may generate small if used for excessive durations of time. If small detected, DO NOT use the gun procedure for a long time ever again'

Thanks Lexx... will look into that one too, they seem to have a lot of different tailored things on offer. Plus I'm assuming they use a proper track rather than an airfield? And a set of RE050As won't lose any dramatic amount of life out of them being thrashed about for one day, will they? After all I won't be going racing driver hard on them as I'll be learning!

Well thanks for the quick reply and recommendation, and coming from a member such as yourself who has given me and so many people so much track (and tyre!) advice, means that your recommendation alone carries a lot of weight! The North Weald one was the top result on my original search and I have to say it did look pretty good, but always worth making sure, you know? Funny thing was after all those threads about 'best performance mods' I still looked at the price of the day and thought 'oh that seems expensive'... forgetting I'd spent thousands already on brake system, new tyres and Uprev and stuff which I don't even get the most out of!
-
Ahh.. at North Weald? Pretty near me (nearly bought my new house there strangely enough), and had seen it before and was the one I was thinking of. But I thought would be good to ask for recommendations first. And hey.. what's wrong with the Welsh!? haha
-
Can anyone recommend any particular ones? After many hours at the Zedshed the car is finally ready to be put through it's paces properly, but I wouldn't feel comfortable just taking it on a track day and risk accidentally trashing someone's Porsche GT3 or whatever. Would feel a lot more comfortable taking some lessons first. I've heard of some days that (although expensive) you are pretty much the only person there, which would be good for me as there's no one to hit and no one to laugh at you! haha. I'm based in North London, but of course it's the kind of thing I would set aside a day for and be willing to travel. Also, I have some nearly new tyres and the whole brake system (discs/pads/lines/fluid) has all been upgraded for this, I assume that one driver training day isn't going to wear anything out a massive amount. I doubt I'll be too full on, and maybe if I enjoy it then I will invest in some extra rims and tyres specifically for track work. Any suggestions of good tracks/places/instructors would be ace!

Awesome, and cheap too, I have a similar spec (although not quite as good..) machine that I bought when the i7 JUST came out and it cost me over £3000 and that was without the other goodies that you're getting like monitor etc. Shame it isn't watercooled that I can see, and personally I stick with ATi cards now, Nividias are better on their own, but you can trounce them by just running more ATi cards in Crossfire. Or at least that's how it used to be.. been a while since I've messed around building PCs. Have fun with it, give it a real test with some strategy games though! Supreme Commander Forged Alliance has managed to kill just about every beast machine I've ever seen!

Engine light on after throttle body clean
waltzinblack replied to sam uk's topic in 350Z Modifications
Did you do all the resetting procedures? Last time I cleaned my TB and moved the butterfly valve I had a really high idle and lumpy acceleration because it knocks it all out of sync. I did the ECU reset, Throttle valve position learn and accelerator position learn (they're called something like that!). Maybe if you don't do them after tinkering around the TB after a while it realises it's wrong and you get the light come on? Hopefully it's something as simple as that! -
Temper Orange, Hadley Wood coming from Cockfosters
waltzinblack posted a topic in Spotted or Flyered
Very nice, would've waved or flashed but only saw you at the last minute through the fog! Not seen a Temper Orange in the flesh (err..metal?) before, but although foggy, was nice! Around 6pm this evening. -
Welcome! That. I'm the same age as you buddy, and if your next birthday is only March.. I would definitely recommend waiting until then to take advantage of (hopefully!) cheaper insurance. My insurance is really high, I mean it's fine for me, but in hindsight I could and should have really waited a year or so before splashing out on a fast car at my age, so make sure you check that! But good luck with the search, this forum is incredible and has really helped me out, and hopefully you will be another member that helps to show young drivers CAN be more mature and responsible in nice cars than most people think

Thanks for reminding me I made this thread, I should have asked for it to be closed by now! I think I did PM Zmanalex but I seem to remember he didn't have any... ended up sourcing them from Nissan Dealer... £££ Turns out it's actually two different rubber seals with different part numbers if anyone is looking for the same thing! One goes round the front, the other sits a few inches back. And they clip in very easily!
-
So do you reckon it's worth booking an appointment to go and see them? I'd be interested to know what the insurance will be too.. hmm
-
Thanks for the quick replies guys! @Beau, that's the kind of alternate suggestion I was after, will also look into them! @Southernspeed, judging by what has been said above about Ex-MOD LRs, would you expect them to be going the same way? Surely the Army couldn't afford to keep vehicles that rust to pieces all the time!? On the MOD sales site, the LRs seem to be going very cheap and being ex-mil they look awesome. I also found http://www.mod-sales.com/direct/vehicle ... 2_MK_2.htm

That's the main problems I was hearing about, so thanks a lot for mentioning I'm really hoping to see how many others say the same! But I'm happy to pay a bit extra for status. Land Rovers look cool and quite mean, Suzuki Vitaras do not (sorry to any owners! ).. their presence and looks will be one factor in why I buy. Might be a shed, but I want an awesome looking Shed. Looks is a big factor, that's why I bought a Zed over a Porsche too!

So guys, looking for opinions and advice here... will be moving out into the countryside (ish!) Now we aren't gonna be exactly out in the sticks miles from anywhere (will actually still be very close to London), but will still be in the kind of place that doesn't get much gritting attention in potential icy/snowy conditions. This will be a problem... because I have a 300bhp RWD Zed, haha. I do currently have a 'Shed' which is my trusty Citroen Saxo.. my first car haha. I'd probably manage in the snow in the Saxo as it's light and FWD, but it's past 90k miles now, and for a little French hatchback that is far beyond the point of no return, and it is just falling apart and I want to get rid. It's a VTR too, so with all it's boy racer owners it hasn't exactly had an easy 90k miles. I also just WANT a 4x4. I like the idea of having one, and the extra space will also be useful for a shed car, the Saxo isn't really big enough to justify it's current use as a Shed for transporting my massive dogs or stuff that won't fit in the Zed. And now I'm living slightly in the countryside I won't look like a dick for having one. Budget is £3000, MIGHT stretch to 5, but no more than that. I want an awesome 4x4, and am currently temtped by the Old Discoverys, Defenders and Vogues that I'm seeing on Autotrader. My questions is, are the old Land Rovers really that good? And crucially, are they reliable? I don't care about mpg as the car will only be used for DIY materials, taking the dogs to big parks and in the snow. So if the big V8 Petrol ones are any good then that's cool! Insurance is a factor, but surely a 15 year old 4x4 can't be that expensive to insure?? Really interested to hear about reliability though, that's my main gripe with the current shed. And especially because the models in my range are mostly over 90k miles. Or if there is anything better that still retains the Land Rover 4x4 abilities, and also has the presence and imposing looks.. then suggest away! Cheers
