Ok ,started on engine today first question, and there will be many more do you have to take the front end off the car to get engine out ?I'm leaving the box in. I'm four hours in and don't seem to be getting very far, but I like a challenge. Happy christmas.

Hi mate Just out of interest what was up with you're motor ? Mine is smoking like a deisel on start up and I'm gonna take the motor out myself just pricing up parts now. Good luck

Thanks Darren will have a look tonight. I have been looking at various sites on this problem and apparently Nissan have been replacing engines,and have recognised a problem with this engine from 2004 and 2006 ! On closer inspection ,and boy have I spent to much time looking at that exhaust the smoke appears to be more of a grey colour very heavy on start up but nearly goes after warmed up .

I know its a long shot but could it be the pcv valve ?

That scares the hell out of me , makes my escort cosworth build look easy. I do like the look of that blower though I'm going to sit back and have a think

Lights out, but the smoke is very visible worse than last week so rebuild its is. Can you do the rings from the bottom end on the zed ? If so any ideas how long it would take. I'm thinking of my options at the moment ,if the engines got to come out then I'm considering going all the way and having some turbos or a supercharger fitted.

What's the pedal dance ? Engine lights still on do I need to take it to Nissan ?

Yelp cats are going on again next week and then I will decide wether to have have a full rebuild and go for more power perhaps turbo or charger either way I'm not getting rid of her the misses will go first lol

No it was number two that was wet, and I some how managed to connect number 4 and 6 lead plugs the wrong way round when putting back together (school boy error ) soon fixed but now have the engine management light on

Hi guys compression test done 195 psi on all cylinders , any ideas what it should be? I did it myself with my mates kit, he said there's nothing wrong with that. When I took the spark plugs out I noticed one of them was wet so I'm hoping it's a dodgy plug. Going to change the oil and the one plug now as a matter of course.

I'm going to change the oil and filter as well tomorrow what would you recommend ? By the way having no cats is fun for a while but it's starting to wear a bit thin now

Can anyone suggest a good independent in the midlands area ? Horsham and abbey are to far. I'll get a compression test done ASAP. Started it up this morning and no smoke but when I gased it you could see a whisk of smoke And it smelled like oil,never used to be like that.

Now I'm very worried, it's at the bottom of the dipstick again!!

Always supper unleaded Will check the oil again now I did have to top it up two weeks ago thinking about it.

Hi all I only use my z for weekends and have just noticed smoke (blue ish) coming out the back mainly on the left side and is also staining the bumper. It has recently had decats up rev and plenum spacer new plugs and oil. It's my pride and joy and is well looked after feel a bit worried don't want to think about piston rings or rebuild its only done 54000 miles any suggestions would be appreciated.
