  1. Thanks for the info Choptop... It is in now being sorted. Should be done by this afternoon/tomorrow morning. Looks like no refur'b to my alloys for a while. Or the upgrade to a Charger in Florida next week But it is worth it to be sure Tam is safe when she is driving.
  2. As a side note.... I have noticed since turning the TCS off, my MPG has PLUMMETED... from 26-28ish... to 20-22ish! Maybe that is just because I am pushing slightly more with the TCS off?
  3. He is a wise GIT isn't he I agree that it is over protective in the dry. but then it uses the same settings in the wet and it has saved me once or twice!
  4. I think it is mostly just because I am used to driving with it on. So I CAN bury the loud pedal and nothing happens. I need to drive it more with the TCS OFF, so I can get used to feeling when and where it is going to let go... And therefore have more/better car control. Thing is, I was always only using the Zed as a stepping stone to a TVR... If I DO go for that, I will need to learn to drive with no TCS, ABS, airbags etc pretty smartish!
  5. After reading a few threads on here, I have been turning off my TCS all week. The car feels SO much nicer! No bogging in 2nd plus, before on certain corners when I was being a little brisk, rather than cutting power, the power stays on but the wheels DON'T spin either. Presuming this is down to the tires. Tried a few times to let them spin a little, just so I know where the limit is. But without trying WAY harder than I would on public roads, I couldn't get the PS2's to spin up. Decided to ALWAYS turn it off when I get in the car..... Then.... This morning, pulling out of the swimming poll car park this morning. Been raining while I was swimming. Turned right up a hill on loose/wet tarmac and she let go Let's put it like this... "I ran out of talent" ... Ended up pointing a little towards the wrong side of the road. No-one was about, but that's not the point. The point is... TCS OFF in the dry with good tires.... But ON in the wet, well till I get some more talent anyway!
  6. I did... apparently this part is just impossible to get hold of. Found a place in Brum willing to take it apart and try to fix it. But it would be £400-£600 and take two to three weeks IF they could do it. With a 4 day and £100 MINIMUM time/cost to decided if they could do it or not. So I just had to go for the one from the Stealers.
  7. Been trying that for the last 2 weeks... they are all thre bolts that I can find... not 4 bolts... You spoke to Lee? He may know someone, who knows someone else, who knows someones cat, who killed a mouse at this blokes house once, who breaks BMW's.... you get the idea. Which Lee? To be fair, I have ordered the part now. Tam NEEDS the car this week, so this is the only way to get it sorted. Bugger.
  8. They recon the one we have was one of VERY few with the 4 bolt on it. they changed the design early on Spoke to Bird (performance Diff people) who said they can uprate the LSD, but the diff has to be in good working order first. It is a crazy state of affairs
  9. Been trying that for the last 2 weeks... they are all thre bolts that I can find... not 4 bolts...
  10. Well, there goes the £300 wheel refur'b I wanted... The Diff on Tams 1 series has just given up. £1400 for a new one!!!! £200 back for taking the shoddy one back as it is a reufur'b from BMW THEMSELVES! Then another £150 to put it on. NO-ONE does replacements or refurb's... only place you can buy them is BMW. The things are sealed, so you can't change the oil. How fecking useless is that!?!?! Bunch of German GITS!
  11. When I was looking last week I saw CA5 4 SAM (the missus is Caroline) but thought it was far too GHEY to actually use. Well, WE Like it...
  12. Was looking for one for Tamsin... but she only has two initials.... Ended up going for this, with MY initials on aswell So it actually says "James for Tam"
  13. I MEANT negative... I promise!!! Muppet typing skills
  14. WOO HOO!!! Right, ordered two of the beggers... Knowing me.. I MIGHT screw something up, so I will just whip the positive off the battery, just to be sure. 30 second thing to do, in order to save a load of pain! Thanks guys!
  15. Yes. Old Dorris that drives to the shops once a week to get her food shopping done then comes back and puts her car in the garage until next tuesday at 9.30 needs insurance. Bikes can inflict damage on a car by being at fault and riding badly so the rider should have to have the cover to pay for it. Insurance is a legal requirement for road users as is being able to pass a theory test and practical test. If you don't drive to a standard deemed high enough by law then the privilege is taken away from you. Not so on a bike. Any muppet can jump on a bike and inflict damage to other peoples vehicles with no liability whatsoever. The examples given in this thread show that some (not all) starndards of bicycle riding is well below par, we're not talking forgetting to signal off a round about here but proper get yourself killed things. Suppose you are right... and I would be happy to take one. But don't you think we should enforce the cars first?
  16. cool... and they WON'T kill my BCM?
  17. Thing is ... we can't enforce DRIVERS licenses OR CAR insurance... How will we enforce it on bikes? Plus, I go out on my bike everyday, just twice round the block for exercise. Would I need a licence and insurance?
  18. Not had that myself (Firefox on the iMac) ... And I leave the site/tab open ALL day... As you can guess
  19. I need to start getting discount from Akari Designs "Anyone interested in grounding kits? 5 wire kit made of 6AWG wire with gold plated and insulated terminals. Will be approx £50 Pick your colour from; Black Brown Grey Pink Violet Dark Blue Blue Light Blue Green Yellow Orange Red White" PM Husky...
  20. +1 I suggest Flunitrazepam (Rohypnol) ... Welcome to the loony bin, sounds like you are going to fit in perfectly
  21. Is THIS the right thing? http://www.amazon.co.uk/269-Extreme-Pow ... B001W13PKS
  22. hmmm all those links seem to be dead (Links to specific bulbs on websites) I DON'T want to blow the BCM... can anyone give me a direct link to an LED that will work?
  23. Jims very much a 'stock' kind of guy and the car he bought had this on in the first place. The charger is well worth it for the noise it makes but you might find it puts a bit of a flat spot in the acceleration because it just gulps hot air out of the engine.......unless you start cutting nostrils and feeding tubing out of the front bumper. Yeah... I am not exactly .... "normal"
