Tried to do a little research, but I didn't find anything. I THINK Paul did a thread on what to remove... anyone know where it is (I can't find it ) or if I even NEED a "How too" Just want to remove my rear sub/glove box to see what kind of space I have to play with. Cheers

Best thing about a Cayenne? Being inside so you can't see the outside... Just don't drive past any mirrored buildings or glass shop fronts Dan (as always) is right. My Dad had his Mercedes in a low flood. Parked it in a car park... went for a walk, came back and the place was flooded (normal high street car park) Amazing thing was, he waded out to it, checked the air box was above water, which it was, sat in the WET seats, started her up and drove her out. Was still written of though and he new the scrap guy who bought it and tried to run it, lasted 3 months after it was "dried out" and then it all went haywire. Leave it well alone... unless "low flood" meas 1/3 up the alloys (and even then you would have to be blind... awful awful looking car!)

Been a while since an update.... Looking into ICE at the moment. Not done much yet apart from research. Put in a decent colour dome light rather than the awful yellow one's... Just need to work out how to alter the vanity mirror ones now! (I think Akiri Designs are going to sort it) Also managed to buy a sub box for my super stealth ICE install that I have on the cards. Going to be a long time coming but I am in no real rush. Kinda doing it as cheaply as I can to get a decent system. £50 for the box, £50 for a JL mono e1200 amp (not sure if it will be good enough yet, so may have to sell it) and £100 for a JL Audio 10w3v3 sub. Waiting for the sub and the amp to turn up, but here is the box. Think I may need to re-seal it, as the joins look a little big.

Does the Qashqai reversing camera fit the Z?
slimjim replied to slimjim's topic in I.C.E & Electronics
Just want to know if it will fit into one of the reversing light on my 03 UK GT and what it looks like on -
Ahhh... so you have have the crossovers IN the amp, that makes sense I know it doesn't sound like it... but I think I am capable to installing it all myself Setting it up properly is a different story. I might pop into my local place and get them to do all the tweeks of the sound setup. but I will get a quote for that while I am in there listening/choosing comps. What do you think a realistic budget for a good set of comps would be?
-
Yeah, I think so... but I think you have to separate them out first, so you need an active crossover to do it? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_crossover Passive: Active: Does that mean you have never run active? And if so, for a beginner like me, is going active just proper overkill? You are dead right, only "I" can decide on the comps. I love a warm sound. Problem with something like the hertz mlk's is that I think they are WAY out of my price range. I only wanted to spend £200-£300 on comps. Is that an un-realistic budget for a good set of comps?
-
Might be because I don't understand this enough yet... so please bear with me I thought "Passive" was passing everything into the amp, then using a "passive" crossover afterwards, to filter out tweet and mid (and sub) for the relevant speakers. but AFTER it has been amplified. Where as "active" was filtering the sound FIRST from the RCA, THEN passing it into the amp. using different channels for the different speakers. But you need an "active" crossover for that. Which are expensive. Am I completely wrong?

Any news on this neilvr? -
YES PLEASE my good man! Have a look here... viewtopic.php?f=27&t=52053 I hear what you are saying. Anything you recommend? Just been offered a brand new Genesis Series iii 4 channel for £300 (for the comps, obviously). Tempting but I think it might be beyond what I need! http://www.mega-watt.co.uk/products.php ... -4-channel

OK, so I am going for this "stealth" install and have collected a few things so far, as well as making a couple of decisions on a few other things. So... anyone care to comment on this post and answer any of the questions raised in it (RisingPower?!, DBlock?!) I would very much appreciate it. Head Unit So far, I fancy the Pioneer P4300DVD head unit. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/DVD-Receivers/AVH-P4300DVD but the reasons I have chosen it are: a. Within my £400 price range. b. I have had Pioneer before, and respect the quality c. Great functionality, including the iPod connectivity and interaction I am after d. Lots of scope for addons (GPS etc) My decision on this could be changed if someone could suggest something close/better than it. I also have a sub box and a JL10w3v3 to go in it. So, questions. 1. For the components. Do I go active or passive? _________I think active may help me in the long run with the sound. 2. Do I need active/passover crossovers for the setup? _________Presume a set of components will have passive crossovers with them anyway. _________But would I be better off going for an active, even though it will mean buying an active crossover, which I presume are not cheap! _________Should I RUN passive for now, but cable for active if I decide to in the future? 3. Does the fact that the head unit has a separate Sub output render the point of active redundant? _________i.e. is there NO point running active, as it will only be splitting for the tweets and the mids, _________so I might as well setup the head unit to only output the mids/tweets range on the non sub RCA _________and then a passive filter will be (nearly) as good as an active one? _________Also meaning I can go for a 2 channel amp for the comps, rather than a 4 channel _________which also will save me cash on an active crossover! 4. Do all the questions on active/passive depend on the components I choose? _________Not done ANY research on them yet. Need to hear some before even starting to decide I'd love some feed back on this guys.... anyone?

Gain will be kept right down... and I will be doing LOTS of research on the best amps, components and wiring for the whole system. Think I will start up a new thread with a list of what I have, what I am thinking and where I want to go... with (hopefully) from recommendations form your self

Cheers for all the help guys... Just managed to bag a 3 month old one for £100!! Will just have to see what I can do with it. I have a "decent" sub... a box pretty much the exact size it needs to be for the sub.... so... NEXT thing I need is....? Possibly a HU or an amp for the sub? Might TRY my JL e1200 with the JL 10w3v3, see how it does in the car. Gonna have to dig out some audio and power cables to hook something up and see how it sounds together So, next on the list... components and an amp for them. MMMM Rainbows

Well, I am kind of "stuck" with the size box i have. Which is the 1117 in³ = 0.646412 ft³ one. I am not after a LOUD setup... I really want a quality one. Quality? How do you mean? I mean I want it to be able to handle all the low notes I want to throw at it. Be clear, not fuzzy. I don't know a lot about this at all. I used to play "Under the influence" by the Chemical Brothers in one of my old cars to test my sound and it was amazing!. Suppose I may just have to source this JL and see how good it is :-)

ESPECIALLY if it is petrol powered... That's for teenage wannabe drivers who can't get a REAL car...
-
Lots of skill ... but I have to say that anyone with an R/C car after the age of about 13 is VERY sad.

Are you sure its 0.6cuft? I know a guy in glasgow that did an install on both sub and glovebox he said it was 0.4cuft but after the sub displacement it was 0.3cuft unless he built the boxes very small. Not 100% sure. Just bought the box from Shaun... so when it arrives I will do some proper measurements and work it out exactly. But going from the CAD drawing of it ... it is 1117... so 0.64ft³ (Before displacement)

I need to upgrade to Snow Leopard first THEN move to Lion... a bit pants really...
-
10" I think... (but not 100% sure what the difference will be... Punchy or woofy?) I would say £200 would be my limit... but I would prefer to pay £150. I know NOTHING about brands (other than I have had pioneer and JL, which I like) so any brand is fine with me. All gonna be stealth, so if it is good but "unknown" I am happy with that..
-
Think it says 1117"³ So I was WELL off ... me and my maths!!! 1117 in³ = 0.646412 ft³
-
Can't read it very well on the diagram, but it is in the top left hand corner I think!!!

ahhh ha!!! So I recon it is just under 1.4 Cubit feet... sound right? Forgetting about the little sliced of section... the box is 16" X 15.5" X 11" which is ... = 2728"³ 1.57870 ft³ The section WITH a slice out would be 5" X 4" X 15" which is ... = 24.2"³ / by 2 (as it is at an angle) = 12"³ ? 2728"³ - 12"³ = 2716³ Plus take off a bit more for the thickness of the MDF ... I recon about 716"³ 2000"³ Convert that.... ... 1.15740 ft³ Does that look like GARBAGE?
