  1. Bottom line is its acid (can't remember what kind) but it did this to these wheel trims. Like I say.....i wouldn't use it on a customers car! Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  2. Christ knows.......genuinely I think she was lovely but mad as a bag of spiders. Remember the chicken episode where her neighbour took a contract out on Myrtle the chicken! Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

    Alfa... just...

We've got a 1.6 derv. Cracking car. I believe the 1.4 is very good as well but as always service history is a must. Alfas are really sensitive to oil changes etc. We had one in the other day that wouldn't start. Turned out it had immobilised itself because the oil life had run to 'zero' and it needed a service. Never heard of that before but there it is! Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk Is it right that new Alfas are shipped with just a small amount of oil and it is down to the dealers to add oil to the correct level on arrival? That was a line my son was told when he found very low oil in his new Alfa about 5 years back. Not sure on that one bud. I'd say they'd be crackers to do it though......asking for a knackered engine given that most folk don't know how to even check the oil Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Oh and the gearboxes on a particular engine can be quite weak......not sure which one though but I know it's not the derv Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

  7. Sorry just found the piccie. Conrod went through the crank case into the sump but it for want of a better word 'shat' the piston Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  8. What engine components failed? Were they all standard spec? Jammed a rod through the crank case. You could see evidence of det on the piston face Totally stock car. Thest said an oil gallery may have clogged for a few seconds and actually killed it you just don't know but I think we're getting at odds to the argument. Incorrect fuel will not be good for the car and COULD cause knock and preignition. That said it doesn't mean one tank of the stuff = deaded engine. It's a deteriorating effect, where then engine cannot compensate. What happened in this case (I believe) was pre ignition (not detonation - knock) which is usually a byproduct of a period of knock. I know we're all guessing with Irish zeds but I can't believe the car would be specifically marketed to a country where the fuel to run it was unavailable. .....surely they must have a different map? 9. Sounds like someone's thrown the line out hoping for a nibble. Best thread we've had in ages. 7 Tapatalk pages and nothing but good natured bants. Makes a change. Jetpilot - your missus (assuming you have one?) will of allowed you to name 'The Five' at some point (for anyone who doesn't know that's 5 celebs who you can have it off with should the unlikely event occur)......who be they? 10. You'd never know bud. It'd take massive investigation and by this point the punter is only interested in getting a new engine. Bottom line it's a risk. How big of a risk is totally debatable but you are running it. The facts are that this engine requires the higher RON........don't use it and you risk abnormal combustion. It's just a total paranoia issue though. If the car is second hand instantly you just don't know. Similarly you'll get people terrified of using a single tank of standard. For me it's a bit like using crap oil. Prob wouldn't hurt for one oil change but it certainly won't be doing it any good. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  11. Uk standard unleaded fuel is 95 ron - not premium. Google it and you'll see. 91 ron does not exist in the UK to my knowledge and the yanks will refer to 95 ron as 91 ron. Dude I'm not trying to rain in your parade but if we can't agree on the above then the discussion is sort of moot to start with. Read the wiki page on knock, detonation and pre ignition. It's a really good write up and explains the difference and why it happens. I tend to agree with a more anecdotal comment from above. ......the Irish get utterly lamped on insurance, tax etc so chances are they're simply more careful drivers and less chance that some of the young twerps we get over here are not trashing the granny out of zeds because they can't afford to run them. Basically if you run the car on the wrong fuel you run the risk of 'abnormal combusion'. This in itself can damage the engine over a period of time. Worse though it can also lead to pre ignition (because it causes hotpots in the combustion chamber, raised temps, sharp edges etc). Combustion before the combusion stroke starts.......I. E piston on the way up. That usually spells engine death. I've changed the engine on one first hand and i'll tell you now it was a car thrapped everywhere by a toe rag and ran on ****. That was one of many weve seen........It was damn near one a week at one point Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  12. Let's also bear in mind that not all owners are on a forum. Using the wrong octane isn't necessarily instant engine death as we've established previously but use it and you'll run the risk. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  13. Literally cannot even be bothered trying to explain this.......again. How this argument isn't to bed yet is beyond me. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  14. Another vote for Scholl. Rupes is pretty kack from what I hear. Machines are good but the polishes are poo Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  15. I'd be amazing if the HR payroll bod even bothered to cross reference your application with the P45.....amazed Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  16. I have to say I'm well impressed with your efforts and for reference re 8 hours on the console sanding........you did nothing wrong. It's Hell on earth to get that stuff off! Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  17. And you didn't even pop in for a brew >_> Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  18. That is because its Kazama, not veilside Lol......that's what I get for reading a thread with one eye on something else! Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

  20. Stick em in a bowl of cheap coke ;-) Serious though as much as I'd never do it on a customers car me and Chris did it on his chrome wheel trims from his van.......what coke does to your insides god only knows! Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  21. Very cool bud! Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

  23. Congratulations on kicking the ciggies As you say there are loads of vape shops online, the ones I regularly use are ukecigstore, Sr-vapes, myepack and Ecigone. They vary in price so I switch between them depending which has the best offers at any given time, they are all reasonably stocked and I've always received 1st class service, quick delivery and good communication so I'd happily vouch for them However if you don't mind waiting for delivery (sometimes up to 5 or 6 weeks) then gearbest are extremely cheap for lots of vape gear I think the Kangertech seems a bit flimsy to be honest. I got a CoolFire something or another plus. Seems far more robust and it's a powerful little bugger Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  24. Kranzle is about the only decent bit of kit I don't own yet. I'm on my 3rd Nilfisk in 18 months (I broke all of them by leaving them plugged in overnight). Had a Karcher and have to agree. ...pretty kack Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
