  1. So there was water in the system? There was ...the rad had failed thats why the rad is being changed
  2. Right a gearbox specialist has looked at it. Diagnosed corroded soleniods and both have conspired to blame the supplier of the rad so I don't have to pay to get it fixed. Heard it before but apparently I'm 'getting it back tomorrow'
  3. ????? Vicious bastard save! Nevermind mate.....smart repairer may be able to sort that
  4. also goes go show once and for all that just because you can afford a car that was 50 odd grand it doesn't mean you can afford to run it (which incidentially I probably can its just I'd rather not spunk 3 grand repairs on a 6 grand car!)
  5. So long as I'm not paying for anything and it gets fixed I don't care if he has to consult a talking gorrilla.
  6. Bizarre.......just had a call from the garage. Bloke has now said he's had a think about what I said and come to the conclusion that he can't charge me any more to fix the car. He's got onto the company that told him the rad would be ok to temporarily fit and said they need to foot the bill.......apparently its being looked into by a gearbox specialist. Sounds like the valves mustn't have fixed it then!
  7. Put one of these down the middle of your drive but sink it into the ground under some gravel so it can't be seen. Wait for twunts mate to park on drive thus forcing him over yours http://www.chiefsupply.com/Categories/2 ... stems.aspx
  8. Scorp and Popcharger just sounds amazing
  9. To be fair would you be seen in public driving that?
  10. Oh someone mentioned something about clutch plates? I don't get gearboxes. Merc forum just asked the same question! I don't know.....just got a garbled voicemail message about it needing 2 new valves.
  11. Wonder what would happen if you ran over a squirrel with an re040.....reckon your be proper f****d then
  12. Definitely the RE040's that caused it. Dirty..........DIRTY RE040's Filthy BAD little things.
  13. You wont spend more on a well sorted Z4 but you'll be getting a much gasher (is that a word? It is now!) car.
  14. Clarkson on the RX8 "best car i've driven this year" cut back to studio "actually no....got on the road in the rain and it became very twitchy. There is something about those tyres thats not right" Or words to that effect.
  15. Government organisation......did you expect anything else other than a complete **** up?
  16. Actually something as occurred to me that makes a lot more sense.......it might not be slipping - its jumping into neutral. That would explain why it went from perfect to nothing...clutches simply don't go fail in 20 seconds from perfect to total slippage.
  17. +1 definitely got umberage with the fuzz. This lad has been nothing but honest and humble. Piglet is being a troll-let methinks
  18. This wasn't when you plant it mate - it was running perfect for 15 miles then literally slipped like the clutch was gone completely - no power at all.....planting it or not. Already checking out the other options
  19. I want a car with more than 2 seats for a bit as well.......sick of having to drive both cars to take more than 2 people anywhere! Never mind.....one of those learning experiences at the end of the day. Expensive one but thats life. Hopefully either the garage is covering the cost for damaging the gearbox after bodging the rad or its a cheap fix. He's getting some @*!# tomorrow if he's not planning on doing it for free!
  20. Verdict......2 new valves required apparently Conveyed to me over voicemail so not sureif he's expecting me to pay for them or not. Not sure if that's an expensive part or not.
  21. That's edd china isn't it? Wheeler dealers bloke. He's in the guinness world records with that for the fastest furniture or something.
  22. ......the sweet just ain't as sweet. Merc back from garage today with an £850 bill to sort the little judder that it had under low rpm acceleration......basically rad had failed and contaminated auto box with glycol. 3 days being told wrong rad arrived blahblahblah. Eventually pick it up and he advises that he's installed the wrong rad to get me on my way but to come back tomorrow/thurs as the correct one will be in (only difference he reckons was a pipe at the top that's blanked on the right one that isn't on this one and he's put a temp blank on). Drive car home......perfect. Smooth as silk and pulling like a train. No juddering, no slipping just perfect Get home and then drive to footy.....2 miles down the road it starts slipping and then slips completely (like you would imagine if a clutch totally failed on a manual). then it started whining (which went after a couple of restarts). Stop and started car and it was pulling again but no changing gear.......then going back to slipping again. Christ knows what they've done but I don't understand how a gearbox can be perfect then 2 miles later slipping and stuck in first. Also when clutches go they dont suddenly spring back to life when you restart the car. Paralysed with fear is about the best way I can describe myself now.
