  1. Called a Vignette, make sure you have one, they hold you hostage at the border on exit if you don't http://www.tolltickets.com/country/swiss/vignette.aspx?lang=en-GB
  2. One option to consider is the Portsmouth - St Malo ferry, takes you to a stunning part of France with the option of touring Normandy or Brittany. If your interested in this sort of thing, the Normandy landing beaches and surrounding areas give quite a few options, or go further west to St Nazaire, or south to Saumur in the Loire valley. The South (Millau/Monaco) is too far away given your constraints. The Portsmouth/Plymouth - Santander/Bilbao ferry is a good option, but bear in mind that its an overnight crossing, so could take a bit of time from your schedule. If you choose this way, the coast is stunning and pretty much clear of Brits with hankies on their heads. It all depends what you want from your holiday, relaxed or whizzing about tour, but with the timescale given, I don't think both are an option. There's also a fast ferry from Portsmouth to Caen, takes about 3 - 4hrs and drops you right in the middle of the Normandy landing zones.
  3. Can't quite fathom his listing out, he says he made it in carbon fibre, does that mean it's a replica? £1860 + £372 shipping + approx 20% tax, makes it an expensive gamble. I suppose I could ask the seller, but I'd still be sceptical.
  4. Thanks for clearing it up. Once you get it on it will make an interesting read if you can live with it as a daily drive, as my Z is also a daily drive. Have looked at a few Japanese sites and a brand new gel coated, ready for paint full kit comes in at @ £2345 before postage. Can you hurry up and give the review please , once I've figured out how to calculate shipping I'll let you all know this cost as well
  5. You'll not struggle with fuel stops, even some of the more remote areas are well catered for, both times I toured Spain, big tours that is, was in my old Rex and that needed fuel every hundred yards or so My only planned trip to the continent this year, so far is to Provence/Cotes D'Azure area and I'm contemplating going through Spain again, best coffee in Europe, fact! In the southern part of your journey, hang a right at Puerto Banus and head up to Ronda, that is a stunning drive and made for a good GT car, take an hour or two but Gib can be reached in about three hours from there, used to go there on an odd weekend when I was in Gib. Spain's oldest bullring and a stunning gorge are not to be missed there. If you plan to go into Gib, leave your car in La Linea and walk over the border, the queues from the Spanish side can be horrific, especially when they close the runway for aircraft use. We always hired a car on the Spanish side to avoid the queues, when heading up the coast. You'll certainly have no probs obtaining fuel in that area,Spain's biggest refinery is just down the road
  6. Kev's probably running around in it , but if he's not,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
  7. Have you thought of missing out France altogether? The drive down from Calais will be turgid if you plan to mostly use motorways. I know that you've booked your hannel crossing but did you consider Portsmouth - Santander/Bilbao crossing? You would be nearer the Pyrenees and could take in Pamplona, get a few happy snaps on the Bull run route and the roads to the mountains are great. I've not studied your route through the Pyrenees too closely, but if you can, take in a village called Ainsa, the historic part is very nice but the route there and through it is stunning, lots of twisty, good forward visibility, empty and the added bonus of overhanging rock on some of the roads that can really make your car sing with a nice symphonic echo. Personally I would give a large chunk of the southern coast roads a miss, especially the motorways, near the cities they are downright dangerous with every Spaniard willing to prove that they are Fernando Alonso!, especially nearer Marbella to Gib The non motorway roads that hug the coast and shadow the motorways are loaded with all sorts of slow traffic and traffic that are avoiding the tolls. If you still go through with the route your planning, don't give the Atlantic highway in Portugal a miss, some stunning, fast stretches there, don't know too much about the road that runs up the border though. The poster who mentioned Santiago de Compostela is right, stunning place and the food, it's fantastic and cheap. Coruna further North is also worth a stop. The Costa Verde in the north is beautiful, and together with taking in Leon and the Picos Mountains is a stunning area with lots of small coastal towns or interior villages to stop off at (a couple of years ago, 2009 actually, we stopped at a coastal village up there and had tapas and coffee for a Euro each!!, they don't see many tourists in some parts). If you plan to take in Millau in France, that.s a fair diversion away from the Spanish Pyrenees, maybe best saved for another time, enroute to The Camargue/Provence/Cotes D'Azure? Have a great time whatever you decide, personally I think it's a bit ambitious in the timescale and distances involved, if you plan to have any decent rest stops, but perfectly doable as an endurance run. Good luck
  8. Couldn't have been me, I'm grey headed and have a coupon like a deep fried tomato, so much so that people often mistake it for some sort of interior mood lighting mod Memory is for young people, I have no idea most days what I've seen
  9. Fair to diddlin' Jay, just getting over my over demanding family's Crimbo/New Year entertaining!! Had a very busy social calendar last month and now recovering from Linda's birthday night oot last night in the toon Hope all is good with you, and Neil has managed to stay out of jail
  10. Probably me, on my way to work. Can't comment on the "look", but I probably look at most people like the way described, whether in a car or not, mostly because I'm old and blind
  11. Best get your wallet out then Aircon, satnav, heated door mirrors, leather interior, tracker, the excellent sport seats, and a better chassis. Dynamically superior as the engine is in the right place, and you get more room for shopping too. Quicker 0-60 and higher top speed as well, if that floats your boat. Only thing it falls down on is the 3 year old rule, admittedly, but it's only done 46K and Porsches wear much better than Nissans anyway so it really won't feel like a 6 year old car. There's a 370Z on there for £16700 that's done 33K miles in three years, which would be the closest competitor but that's an auto. Yes it falls down on 3 year rule, but that's the point, 6 years old!! Best keep my wallet in ma hippy, eh?
  12. They look awesome but air cooled sucks. Plus have you seen the prices of them? I personally don't agree with this bang for buck stuff. When buying new yes I agree but an older cayman is the same price as you 370 is now probably. Then you could argue do I want something I like or something that is good value for money. I personally think people who bang on about the badge haven't driven a Porsche or is a hater. There is more porsches then 370 on the road and to most people if you want a good relible sports car you think Porsche. If you go for a cayman make sure you get a 3.4s as they can be tuned to 350ish bhp. Hmm, mostly borrocks IMO. "I personally don't agree with this bang for buck stuff", probably never compared the two, from new, to 3 years old, as old as the 370, more bang for buck, try buying a three year old Cayman, never mind a 911 for 16/17k., if you can find one, I'll buy it if it has, which it won't, the same "spec" "Then you could argue do I want something I like or something that is good value for money", I rest my case on that one, see above. "I personally think people who bang on about the badge haven't driven a Porsche or is a hater" Badge has a premium, fact, no argument, look at Audi/BMW basic cars, or indeed lower spec Porker's. Hate? Never driven? I'd suggest that you have no idea IMHO, why would you hate a car?? I hate paedo's. and granny bashers/junkies, but why would you "hate" a lump of metal, doeasn't make sense that statement. Thinking and knowing are two different concepts, if you look at the stats for most reliable cars over the last 10 years, Japanese cars have far out performed Porsche, even down to an Aygo!! Badge snobbery and perception of what you may see as in "most on the road", surely, would make you want to have a Transit van than anything else. Not understanding a brand icon is exscusable, throwing money at a perception may not be. Hay ho, why don't we all have a Porsche on here? Is it down to the premium you pay, reliability, performance, no, it's because it's an expensive badge, IMO.
  13. There's no doubting A Porsche's credentials engineering wise and handling (although most on here probably couldn't drive either cars fast/aggressive/smooth/to the limit to tell the difference), Cayman excepted IMO, they just don't cut the mustard as far as the price or looks go. The 370 will turn more heads and has better bang per buck. There is a premium on a badge to be paid, without any shadow of a doubt, but if it's "an itch to be scratched", it's gotta be done, oh and they won't talk to you on the Porker forums for at least 3 years or £110,000 spent, whichever comes first
  14. They do everything for hifi/home cinema, the system in the link is an integrated av amp, has 2 x optical connections so takes care of Blu Ray/PVR combo very nicely. I looked at quite a few options including Onkyo when I upgraded, but took the chance on Teufel. The build and finish quality is superb. One thing I would say though is whatever system you choose, make sure the ancils are top notch, especially the speaker cable, can make or break a system
  15. +1 but different exhaust set up, also makes you sound very professional . I've tried taking it off on the odd occasion and I felt as though I couldn't drive properly. I've had it on since day 1 so have no idea what the consumption difference might be
  16. Have a browse on this sight http://www.teufelaud....keyword.teufel, you can budget to suit and not your usual Sony etc stuff. I've got one of their systems with a sub that would sink Trident!! They're very good at explaining stuff and are happy to converse on line. Their listings will also let you factor in your room size. This is a similar set up to what I've got http://www.teufelaudio.co.uk/home-cinema/columa-300-r-set-l-p5890.html
  17. Yea the pics aren't great I was walking by and took them without letting anyone see in case the owner was watching me and badged me up as well The only thing missing is the Nissan devil badge Or a not quite right private plate I'm away to brush ma teeth
  18. I've seen this "badgefest" of a "car" in Garscadden quite a bit, think that's where the person lives. It's even more disturbing in the flesh
  19. Welcome along Paolo  Where in Italy do you live? I've enjoyed a few blasts and some tranquil blasts in the Lakes region, namely Lake Como and Garda I've got a friend who wants us to do a road trip to the heel of Italy, he's got an R3 RX8 and I've got a similar 370 to yours. Normally by this stage, I've invited myself over for a holiday, but a couple of nights stopover will do for now G
  20. Free wine tasting in the Town Hall as well
  21. Go to what? Ha ha, nice ride there Davy Two white's cutting about Glasvegas eh? I'll need to add a bit of colour and fastness to you pair Not been on for a while boys so I've a bit of catching up to do .
  22. Saumur, great town on the banks of the Loire, finest white wines on the north bank, finest reds on the south. We stayed here http://www.lelondres.com/
  23. These men were the bravest of the brave and real hero's to the whole world. To do what they did with technology based on knitting needles and string was truly amazing. The world is a poorer place today with his demise, RIP
