Sounds like a good trip, in my experience, going from the Ring to say, round about the Lake Como area is a 400-500 mile drive, now if you're planning to take a partner/wife/girlfriend/blow up doll, I would take at least an overnight or 2 night break on the way down. Reason behind this is even on an early start, you'll get into the Alps, late afternoon, by that time you'll be pretty kanackered and the ladies will not enjoy it and neither will you. These are great trips to do, but I would stick to 250 max on driving days, take 2/3 night breaks between driving/exploring the passes, I've spent a few 12 hr Alpine drives, wishing I had stopped earlier, like 8 hrs earlier. Just a thought, if you're a driving monster then go for it in a one'r, but after a track day as well.... Any of the Lakes are a great base, but Italy is HUGE, even from the Lakes to Bolognia or Modena is a fair old treck. Also, plan the return trip as detailed as the outward one, been there on an evening on an Autobahn, with heavy German traffic, can be very congested, I would come back up through France. Just pointers for you to take regard of if anyone wants to take you up on the trip and takes along partners

If it's only put away through the week, can't see anything special needed, if it goes away to beddy baws for the week and it's been wet or recently washed, then leave the handbrake off. My car regularly sits on the drive for an odd week now and then, sometimes longer with no harm coming to her. Going away for the whole winter is a different story though.

The 370 is pretty impressive on fuel, my previous 370 was particularly good after an uprev, you can get up to 400 odd miles out a tank, my Nismo is a tad down on fuel consumption but still delivers high 20's low 30's on a run, I put the poorer consumption down to the rear wing, might come into it's own at 155mph, but that's not going to happen . Short journeys are a fuel killer, cold weather etc. For a big engined GT car it doesn't do too badly. My Rex, to put it in perspective, was horrendous, great wee handling car, but 200 to a 62 litre tank was woeful

So since you are looking at extras (you don't say what extras), are both cars new? If so, must it be a roadster? There are quite a few mods that can be done to the 370 to improve handling, coil-overs, springs that can be brought in for under £1200/£1500. If it's not imperative that it's to be a roadster, then for the price of the roadster, you can probably get the Nismo version, this has a very good level of improvement over a stock 370, some reasonable deals to be had on ex demo's. All the handling improvements are factory fitted which negates any burning desire to further improve the suspension set up. I've driven in the snow with my last 370, not one of my better ideas, but needs at the time required it. You need to drive very gingerly as with any 300 odd BHP RWD car. I found switching the TC off was helpful.

This won't cost anything but I soak a cloth with hot water, ring it out then just run it round the edge of the drivers window and Bob's yer Aunty

UK spec are dark grey, may look better, but don't suit the 350 IMO.

Firstly, don't get a new exhaust, HFC's, Coil overs/springs, panel filters/intakes, spacers or an Uprev, ruins the car
