  1. That was my point, there's a lot of comment on the 350 Nismo and how the 370 version doesn't compare, it is what it is, a vast improvement, aesthetically, more powerful, refined and attractive. Although it's not a c0ck waving exercise, if you put the two of the variants together, 99.999999999999% of car drivers would prefer the newer model. The 50 is dated now and, although it would have been a nice touch to have an R version, the market that it's aimed at and, as has been pointed out by more than a few, the said market doesn't exist anymore, if that makes sense. Having looked at in depth, at a 'premium' make, and whilst it was affordable, to me, the Nismo just had it all, criticism on a comparative note to any other Z or any other marque, just doesn't wash. It is the best of the Z cars so far, not to everyone's taste, but a fact, modern, undeniably more up to date and very, very rare. I'm long enough in the tooth and worldly wise enough to spot green eyes in some comments directed at the car so far. We'd all be kidding ourselves if we thought that this was not the case.
  2. I wasn't aware that the 350 Nismo was particularly 'hardcore'' Or am I missing something? none of the Z range in whatever guise could be labelled 'hardcore' Oh well......... Sent from my bunk!
  3. Well done, you're picking it up! When you're grown up it might get fully developed
  4. Your most welcome, situational awareness, it's a skill that can't be taught.
  5. Can vouch for that, middle daughter had one on a three year deal and, was given a fair few quid more than the guaranteed minimum trade in, great wee cars. Used Orange Wheels to drive the Nismo deal as well.
  6. ......and nothing like your avatar.
  7. Gear knob is an interesting mod really, but I would suggest that it would sit better with a short shifter. Had one on my RX, but there was no need for a new knob (ooh err mrs), as the shape and weight of the RX one was perfect, it also had an illuminated shift pattern, a nice touch and it would be nice to have similar in the Z.
  8. ..........for a reason. Exclusivity
  9. You won't be disappointed, welcome to the exclusivity of Nismo ownership.
  10. Beautiful looking car buddy. Nearly bought a new one last summer before deciding I couldn't afford the new Cayman S in the spec I'd drooled over. Once the Nismo is 3, I'll look at a nearly new/1 year old model. They are the only other car I would have/afford other than my Nismo.
  11. Yeah, that's what I would have wanted when I was transporting toddlers and shopping, really practical getting to the nursery in 4.3 seconds. Oh did I mention, it's an ugly mofo of a car, man it looks like the ba5tard child of a 1 series and a Volvo.
  12. Had a Borla on my RX8, awesome sound, I did consider one for my last 370 bit went for an Akropovic instead. Very good quality and a million mile warranty! I would have no qualms in getting one.
  13. What Dan says, but it'll have GTR/Nismo publicity all over it, Nissan showing off what a budget car maker can do.
  14. Nissan are entering a GTR Nismo in next years Le Mans, in LMP 1 cat, they must think they've got something to offer track wise.
  15. I will be... a week today Good luck with the purchase. There'll be a lot of stuff not on your shopping list, coz' it's already there. I've had nothing but statements of 'wow', from anyone who has approached and asked me about it, a lot of people stop and take photo's. It's a great place to be. very, very rare.
  16. Yeah, if looking for a "boot" try a Skoda, brilliant!
  17. Red and green, should never be seen!!! Looks like a fab time.
  18. Can you point me to a Porsche that is cheaper, more economical and faster, that's straight out the wrapper brand new? I couldn't find one, or for that matter, a BMW or Audi with the same spec and power? I went into a Porsche dealer and spec'd a base model with f*** all and it was more expensive than a Nismo, strangulated and utterly cheap/basic. That's a fact, pass it on.
  19. Yup, Grey, White or black, that's the choice
  20. Ha, it's all coming back to me now, a good indicator of low compression is difficulty starting when warm/hot, lot's of owners went round the houses fitting new starter motors, changing the battery and coils, before having this simple test done, most required a rebuild in the end or were punted on.
  21. Lexx with the more definitive oil answer I love the look of the R3, friend has one, no sat nav option in that except a type of Tom Tom thingy, bigger wheels/tyres (19's), upgraded exhaust, suspension, and even they are cheep.
  22. Yeah, the oil flow on the R3 was increased, it was something like 0.0001ml per rev or something more ridiculous, to more, don't think the pump was changed probably more like through the ECU managing it more, capacity was increased to take this into consideration. Retro fit sounds good, but it just means you're carrying more oil, with no ECU upgrade, then I don't see the point. Corrosion was not a big issue, but these are the areas where it'll show and remedial work will be needed. The 8 is a brilliant car, no two ways about it, If I could have afforded it at the time, I would have kept mine, I was nearly in tears at parting even with a lovely new shiney toy to play with, it still broke my heart. I had the integrated sat nav, very cool operation on the dash, seriously needed upgraded, even when I bought mine, but ripe for modding.
  23. It will be disposable buddy, get the engine fully rebuilt, better if it's 1 owner, preferably from here http://www.rx8ownersclub.co.uk/, BBK is a great mod, to turbo or supercharge, @ £5k, won't give a great deal more, 50/60 hp at most, but will be a nice track/plaything. You will get fed up quickly though, especially if it floods. DO NOT PUSH/BUMP START, there's a procedure with the fuel pump fuse (can't remember the whole gambit but it's on the OC site), not only will it damage the cat, it'll probably damage the rotor tips as well. DO NOT BELIEVE THE YELLOW LOW FUEL WARNING LIGHT, it can mean anything from 5-25 mpg left.Check for corrosion on the sills, boot lid brake light surround, drop links, they are prone to go, most upgrade them, Bilstiens make a difference. Best mod by far is an Axail Flow short shifter, easy to fit and lovely to use. These cars will have been thrashed, mostly by enthusiastic owners, those that haven't been thrashed or owned by enthusiastic owners may well be not worth buying and have seriously carboned up rotor tips/chambers, the high revving alleviates this a bit, so ones that haven't been thrashed, I wouldn't touch, so no "careful lady owners" Lot's more issues, expansion tank sensors are prone to go, headlight leveling sensors (231 only) are prone to go. Spark plugs are EXPENSIVE, they do spark twice on each revolution though, 18000 times per minute at full chat, so a recent P3 is to be welcomed. There is no good or bad ones, totally random, but worth taking ^^ above into consideration. Oh and R3 has a bigger oil capacity, they increased the flow when it was introduced, tells you something about the early ones, dipstick is improved on R3's, Mk 1s are a mare to read. Contact, contact, wait out.......... Oh and I would add, if you are going to heavily mod it, don't pay a premium for an Evolve or PZ (although a PZ is a good place to start re suspension), though they're not so much at a premium now. Nearly forgot the MOST IMPORTANT THING, HAVE IT COMPRESSION TESTED BEFORE BUYING, A MUST DO THING!!!
  24. We did it because your dancing was so bad
