  1. I'm sure you'll get loads of advice from everyone on here, which is good. But I found that a book called, 'A Brits Guide To Florida', the most helpful. It gave kind of, off the wall advice, go in an anti clockwise direction in the parks, put a bit of the psychology behind this to back it up. Get up in the Mustang WW2 fighter, you get a video of your time and within minutes you're at the controls. Gives advice on timings for parks, days to avoid, buying park tickets, what types there are, contact numbers and directions, all sorts. While there's nothing like recommendations on stuff people have done, this book lets you get it in your head, ready to rock as soon as you arrive
  2. There are a few guys in California that are bombing Pakistani villages a couple of days a week. 12 die in Paris, while tragic and abhorrent, doesn't cut the mustard there. My point being, how outraged would you be if that was happening in your village and what would you do about it? Purely devils advocate
  3. Erm, I concur here, your first post isn't clear. It doesn't matter that just because your company is apparently dealing with import and duty/VAT, that a customer doesn't have to worry about it, it's still their cash and ergo, they are allowed to be worried about any cost. Personally, I wasn't aware one way or the other that duty/tax was due on used parts. So to say there is less worry may imply to some that it might be less than is due. It's a fair point to clear up.
  4. The Arctic....with one wooly jumper and a can of Tuna (so the polar bears pick up the scent and eventually eat them) Fair one.
  5. Obviously, the perps, to jail or guillotine, I meant the mentors.
  6. Their. Sorry, I'm OCD. What if the perpetrators and their mentors, are born and bred French, where do you send them?
  7. Will, not Rye House, I'm in Scotland mate. And it's been closer to 30 years I've lived here, but it gets noisier and noisier. Stu, yeah get that, but, your a genuine complainant whether a new resident or 30 years in, we've all got levels of tolerance. I've never complained though, but have been close to it.
  8. Well........... I live relatively close to a well known international kart track, they've all been there as kids developing their immense driving skills, Coulthard, Hamilton, Button and more. But, from 25 years ago, when it was a relatively small concern and the occasional Saturday/Sunday races happened for a couple of hours, until now, when it's almost Wednesday to Sunday, practice, qualifying and then racing, it does get on your tuppeny bits somewhat. While I'm all for the development of these future stars, when all I want is a restful, peaceful Saturday or Sunday afternoon, they are getting noisier and it goes on for days. So I can understand why there are complaints and noise restrictions are in place. Not everyone likes the high pitched screams of motor sport, rammed down their hard worked for pieces of perceived tranquility. Nor should they stand for it. As an example, if it were replaced by a noisy manufacturing plant, not all of you would welcome it. It's horses for courses, one mans Nirvana is another's Hell. Not signed.
  9. It looked like an obvious ad, so one of the Team has removed it. We do get a lot of posts like this and it's a fine line. There are lots of Internet guides to pricing a car, but I must say when it was reported, it does look like a for sale ad. Alternatively, have a look in Zeds for sale section, should give you more than enough of an idea of the cars worth.
  10. I had a similar scenario as jet pilot re neighbours, a whinge, nothing more. All it succeeded to do was put me back six weeks to the next planning meeting, my plans were accepted at the meeting. This was after the said neighbour had indicated that they didn't object when I showed them our plans. They now have to drive past my house every day and I hope it still sticks in their craw. Planning regulations change all the time and what might get rejected initially, will probably be accepted eventually with perseverance, although there are plenty of exceptions to call on.
  11. At least the letters were correct, which is commendable
  12. That's writing, not spelling
  13. If you can't spell it, it's not for you
  14. I would recommend NOT putting HFC's on. As you've only just got the car, give it 5k or so miles, it'll be better. At least run it in.
  15. Definitely don't drink and drive in Scotland, keep your speed down as well, police are itching and under orders to increase results with the new drink drive laws here. That means if you are stopped for any reason, and they will stop you for any reason, you'll be breathalysed. If you can't leave earlier, consider an overnight 4/5 hrs up the road. Even once over the border, it's a long old drive to Elgin, the A9 is the only real route, that is peppered with mobile, static and average speed cameras. Put a shovel, food, wellies, sleeping bag/bags, water and a spare 5l of fuel, just in case. The Drumochter pass is notorious for getting blocked, so prep for the what ifs. Other than that, move closer
  16. Yep, love the new Cayman too, it's what actually drew me in to the Porsche dealership in the first place! My problem was that I would always want the best one available which is/was the GTS. Once you add your options, you are at £70k+ which I was okay with until the GT4 was brought forward to next Summer and my car was due in May..... Once you are in the seats they are perfect, getting in and out of them is the tricky bit!! Ditto, was there in the dealership a year and a half ago, when I got to £60k, I called it quits, that was just the S!
  17. A little lost on a BB, may be interesting to see them with a contrasting colour.
  18. Good effort Craig, the nights must be fairly drawing in at your country pile I found myself looking at the pallet my raised loft flooring arrived on and thought, hmmmm, a pallet, feck it, bin Naw, only kidding buddy, a real flair there
  19. Fantastic, love the write up. I love France, need to get back soon.
  20. The new Cayman is the bomb, that's not a bad one either. Had a chat with an owner of one like this at Knockhill last year, he reckons he would need a good chiropractor pretty soon and, he'd just bought it doh! Couldn't live with the 'less is more' handles though. Enjoy you're new ride mister
  21. Finished a bit early for Crimbo, 05 Dec to be precise, great day to have a birthday . First day back is the 27 Jan 15, pretty awesome break, well deserved though as I'm a hard working chap. Couple of miscellaneous bits to get for Crimbo day, everything else all done and prepped for the big day, and being chief cook and bottle washer, that's the way I like it. All the best to ALL of you, friend and foe alike, and in light of what happened in Glasgow today, may you never know tragedy such as those poor souls. Oh and being retired doesn't count, you're off all year
