  1. Presence was the wrong word, occasion is what the OP wants, apologies for that word being introduced, if it was me The Mustang has a long waiting list, the first EU spec ones are now starting to be delivered. The interior is what is to be expected for a 35k car. I've not even seen a LHD in the flesh yet The first 'Stangs are due later in the UK, they have been built, awaiting shipping, part of the hold up was a header mod, due to the swap over off parts to RHD. The 'occasion' with one is guaranteed, and with the waiting list, residuals will be slow to come down for a wee while, not a concern for me, someone else is worrying about that for me. AMG, being German, is another non preference for the OP, shame as they are epic. When I looked at that XKR though, ooft!, just sitting there it had occasion, same last week when I was in London, someone round the corner from my sis had one, BRG colour, man oozing occasion and presence. The Maserati is gorgeous, and sounds tremendous, there's a dealership a few miles down the road from me, can't help but drool at the cars on the way past. Someone mentioned a Bentley, not a fan, ostentatious springs to mind and I would be slightly embarrassed in one.
  2. I am brave buddy , more than you'll ever know My last 4 cars have been brand new, depreciation is not a concern for me, but I'm happy for you to be concerned However, due to the absolute balls up or very clever marketing by Ford, residuals for a couple of years will be reasonable, due to the delayed launch. I ordered in May, was offered an earlier delivery, but was happy to wait till later .
  3. Why, how did you come to this?... The budget is 35k, how much was yours? Why are you pushing something outside of budget, hard of thinking. ... or this? You keep quoting your mates in the industry, and you can afford to change cars more often than most, not too hard to fathom! He didn't rule it out, he didn't say it must be a V8, read the Poll and his comments again. Your right, he didn't, but he did want presence, doh!
  4. Thanks, I didn't even know that I wanted one, then it just clicked! Have a look at the Chris Harris vid, earlier in the thread, nothing to fear from that review. In a couple of years buddy, you'll have a much better option list, and in 2017, it'll be cheaper to tax, only for ones registered from then mind, so, my 2019 350GT-R will cost the same as a 1.2 Ecotec diesel to tax
  5. Give him your car then for 35k Yes, but you are a rich man with great contacts, I've no idea what the OP's situation is. I'm only quoting YOUR figures, 'for peace of mind' Irrelevant, the guy wants a V8, for the hard of thinking, that's not a GTR, simples
  6. Yes mate, back in May, a modest 5.0 GT though. It's a RHD Pony car, with that Coyote, simple, cool and very different. I'm cool with the wait, although trying to keep my wee Nismo, I'm under pressure to sell, and not from the Mrs, she wants to keep it! However, the more that I think about it, the cost of keeping may stop me from getting my VW Camper as well
  7. Will, if that comes to the UK in RHD, it'll be the last car I'll buy, simply looks like an awesome piece of nasty, mofo, kick you in the goolies piece of Pony, that is my ultimate want in life My puny GT will have to suffice for a wee while, only 10 months left to wait
  8. Looks like a Rover plate. That bloody No1 son better not go out and tell anyone he is high up in Ford in Oz, they're up in arms over Fords handling of the Mustang release Dan doesn't like it because it's not MPSS produced and has nothing to do with tyres, put a VW badge on it
  9. I was also probably researching them before you had one, that was not my figures, that was a GTR owners figures. How much does it cost then, since you are the undoubted 'expert'? If you look beyond the fanboy syndrome, you'll see that I'm complimentary, but, together with someone else's suggested warranty insurance, £2000+VAT per annum is horrendous. However, no matter if it was 3 bob a week to keep running, it hasn't got 'presence', that's a fact. That XK R though did
  10. Chris, they were complimented on a t the Tartan Tarmac meet on Sunday past mate, I love them
  11. OP and others mentioned the GTR, cant sit back when people ramble on about silly high running costs when they have no idea I get the fanboy thing from owning a GTR, God knows I've been flamed enough about my 'fanboyism' of my puny wee Nismo. However, Octet did point out, very graciously, that the servicing was around £1000 per year, along with a bit of a warrant at £1000 + VAT per year. Now if you have £2000 +VAT a year to throw at your GTR, that's great, there's no bigger fan of the GTR's engineering pedigree than me. But to say that no one but you knows how much it costs etc, is frankly rather arrogant. What you have to remember is that there are a lot of forum users out there that HAVE researched the running costs and there is no pretending that it is 'reasonable', just like any high end, complicated and evocative car will be. It is expensive, comparatively against less complicated cars, but maybe not for other more complicated cars. So the OP wants a V8, the GTR is not a V8, he hasn't ruled it out nor tried to trash its reputation, which is awesome. It's not got 'presence' though, just legendary engineering. Anyway, me and the Mrs were out looking at furniture earlier on today, in one of the places we visited, there was a Jaguar XK R in the car park, man that had more presence than all the Nissans in Japan, what an awesome looking beastie!!
  12. "Difficult to find a decent/interesting Maserati within £35k as it is to find an unmolested GTR within the same budget" That's my point really, the budget may not be enough to scratch that V8 itch, with peace of mind. GTR is 2 cylinders short anyway, but a delightfully engineered car, just need deep pockets to run one. Maybe I'm risk averse, but, 35k in anyone's budget, is too much, IMO, to take that risk. Ricey, I get that on the outside, it will look like a 'minter' but, it's the inside that worries me the most. Also, there are good points about gearboxes, the Maserati was never known as a car, for the price, to have a smooth operating gearbox, auto or manual (I would have an auto, now, due to being an old bastardo, but modern autos are just too complicated for my good lady)
  13. Can't remember who that was, they must have been double fudwanktwatspecimens
  14. As someone said, GTR will cost £2000 per year (+VAT, another £400) for peace of mind, that's £6000 over 3 years (£7200 inc VAT) and a limited warranty, take in depreciation, finding an unbastardised one, that's a lot of money. A 911 is a good shout, not a Porsche out and out fan, but after looking at some GT3's on Sunday, they are class, fact, pass that on . If I was hanging by my balls from a bit of fishing line and had to pick between the two, the Maserati would win. If I had the chance to own a V10, with the added security of a bullet proof warranty, the M6 would win, hands down. If I was looking for a car in a 35k budget, with NO RISK, the mustang would win. At the end of the day, it's your cash, your risk and your happiness at stake
  15. Cheap or not, it'll have more presence. Same 'aggressive' mods as our Merkin cousins put on, Whipple, Steeda etc, as far as I'm aware, they're not standard on any 'Stang in the Colonies What about an AMG Merc, not a diddly small one but one of the 63's or 65's. One passed me this morning on the way to work, fook me, that could move.
  16. You're all being a little unfair here, don't forget, America voted in George Dubya!!, twice!! Now, he was an epic fudtwunt!
  17. I know you've discounted the Mustang, however, it'll come with 3 years warranty. The GTR that someone suggested is over budget and is horrendously expensive to service and if something goes bang....well, the Maserati may well break down, expensively, every other week (I love the look of them though) and the Aston, is indeed, a chance to be Bond, every day. However, the cheapest to insure, service, modify and run will be a Mustang. Just saying, you seem to think that depreciation will be a major factor on that, but if you keep any of the other two that you favour for more than a couple of years, they'll depreciate as well, maybe not as much, but they'll be older, again! and just as expensive to run. Interested what you'll plump for. Kyle R has a lovely M6 for sale that would be my choice (I understand that you don't want a BMW though, but a V10!), if I didn't have a Mustang on order
  18. I was only joking re the MPG, but that is pretty impressive for a 5l V10
  19. PM Fatrab, I'm pretty sure he's done most things to his old GT86. Saw a few of them at Tartan Tarmac on Sunday, lovely cars.
  20. Beautiful looking car, I'm sure that'll sell fast if that's the right price it's pitched at. What's the MPG like?
  21. I think it's called 'reeksopish' Sorry, poor Scottish ginger joke (makes me laugh though)
  22. That Porsche in the Glen looked good Rab, wish I had gone up now! Jan looks chuffed with herself
  23. Great wee turnout and a relatively well attended meet. Great to see the everyone Even though someone parked 2 feet away from my drivers door
